Lymington Triathlon 30 TH August 2015 Race Start Time from 7am Lymington Sea Water Baths, Bath Road, Lymington SO41 3SE Directions From The South East / London: From M3 continue onto M27 Westbound. Exit M27 at junction 1 and follow the A337 to Lymington. On entering Lymington turn left at the 2 nd roundabout onto B3054 Marsh Lane. Continue straight on to Gosport Street and continue into Captain s Row as the road bends sharp right up the hill. Turn Left at Nelson Place then continue right to Bath Road. You will see the car parks at the Baths on your left. From The West / Bournemouth: Take A35 to Christchurch, then A337 through Highcliffe, New Milton to Lymington. Continue into Lymington on A337 and turn right at the traffic lights into Avenue Road which becomes East Hill. Turn right at the roundabout into Gosport Street and follow directions as per above From The North / Salisbury: Head to Lymington on A337 then follow directions from Marsh Lane as above PAY & DISPLAY CAR PARKING IN BATH ROAD CAR PARK: 4 FOR UP TO 4HOURS
Pre-Race Registration from 6am 6.45am. At Registration you will need to show your BTF Licence, non-members will need to show another form of photo ID and will be given a Day Licence. (BTF Members Please Note: if you cannot show a current BTF licence you will be charged 5 for a Day Licence) At Registration you ll be given: 2 race numbers (to be displayed on the front when running & back whilst cycling) numbered stickers for Helmet & Bike Your Champion Chip & strap YOU MUST ATTEND THE RACE BRIEFING ON POOLSIDE 15MINS BEFORE YOUR WAVE START! All important Safety Notices and any course amendments will be explained. The Race Director and Referee will talk you through the course and the race rules. It is also your chance to ask any questions. Race Rules! Transition is a Secure Area - only competitors and officials are allowed within the fenced Transition areas. You will need to show your race number to gain access to, and exit from Transition. You will be body marked with your race number in Transition see one of our volunteers. Timing You need to wear your chip on your ankle throughout the race. No chip = no time! Your chip will be collected from you at the finish line. Lost and non-returned chips will be charged at 25. DRAFTING.No Thank-You Penalty is 5mins for your first offence followed by a DQ. BUT I KNOW THIS WON T BE AN ISSUE!!!!! There will be motor Cycle Refs patrolling the bike course and a BTF Referee will be at the race. You must wear a helmet during the cycle section, this helmet must be on your head and fastened before you take hold of your bike and must remain so until after you have racked your bike. (2min time penalty). You must mount and dismount at the designated line on the road. No riding in transition.(2min penalty) Your Race Number must be clearly visible on your back during the cycle and on the front during the run. Race belts are permitted. Cutting or folding of race numbers will also lead to a 2min time penalty. The use of personal headphones whilst racing is prohibited.
All of our Marshals are volunteers. Any competitor, (including their family or friends) abusing our Marshals will be disqualified and will receive a lifetime ban from RaceNewForest Events. Remember Forest Roads are unfenced to animals Watch Out! This event is held under British Triathlon Federation rules. It is your responsibility to know them www.britishtriathlon.org Facilities Toliets, Changing Rooms and Showers are all available at the Seawater Baths. There is also a kiosk selling hot & cold drinks & food. 500m SWIM Sea Water Baths are exactly that! Filled with unheated sea water so Wetsuits are optional The likely temperature varies depending upon the weather, but is expected around 17-20 degrees C. The course will be clearly marked with Buoys and explained at the Race Briefing basically it will be 2 laps of the perimeter. SWIM WAVES: Athletes will be split into 2 or 3 seeded swim waves, each wave will then be divided again with everyone setting off in groups of 5 or 6, 20 seconds apart (based on your estimated swim time you gave us when registering for the race) 1 ST wave from 7AM, 2 ND & 3 rd Waves between 7-7.30am swim waves and race numbers will be on the website a few days before the race (once entries are closed) Please do not ask to be swapped on race weekend as refusal often offends!
BIKE ROUTE 12.5miles Directions: Exit Transition, turn right and mount on road as directed Caution through the pinch point you may have to give way to oncoming traffic Caution around tight left and right hand bends Compulsory STOP at the t-junction into Gosport Street (foot-down stop then straight across) Turn right at the mini roundabout and over rail crossing and then the river. Watch out for the new set of traffic lights just before the rail crossing Highway regulations apply to cyclists! Continue on this road up the climb to Walhampton
Carry on along this road across the heath as far as Hatchet Pond (stay on main road) Slow & prepare to Stop for RIGHT TURN to East Boldre Continue East Boldre and sharp right bend by the Turfcutters Arms Continue to East End and another sharp right bend (stay on this road) Continue along past the East End Arms Caution past the crossorads & over cattlegrid (poor surface & gravel) Continue along past the Isle of Wight ferry terminal back to a t-junction at the river Turn left at the t-junction & cross the river back towards Lymington At the roundabout turn Left to Lymington be prepared to stop here As Gosport Street bends right, go straight on into Captain s Row Left at Nelson Place Bear right around bend (tight) into Bath Road, caution through Pinch Point Dismount at Transition as directed CYCLING CONDUCT:- All roads are open to traffic. United Kingdom Highway Regulations must be obeyed at all times. DQ offence You will NOT have priority at junctions, be prepared to Give Way / STOP! DQ offence Keep to the left-hand side of the road at all times unless overtaking slower cyclists pull in to the left once passed allowing faster cyclists and traffic to overtake you DQ offence if not rectified. Do not cross the centre road white line at any time. DQ offence Do not cut to the right side of the road at junctions. DQ offence Side by side riding or drafting or riding in packs is not permitted. Time penalty will be awarded for the 1st offence and DQ for a 2nd offence. Marshals instructions must be obeyed. DQ offence Marshals will NOT stop or slow traffic for you. Littering is a DQ offence and also carries a lifetime ban from our events The use of personal headphones is strictly prohibited. DQ offence ALL Dangerous Riding will be penalised with a DQ without recourse to appeal On New Forest Roads you will encounter ponies, cows, pigs, deer & Sunday Drivers all of which have no road sense watch out for horse riders, shout a warning ahead and give a wide berth when passing.
RUN COURSE 3miles Directions: Follow the footpath signs through the marina and to the gate to the start of the sea wall path Continue on the sea wall to the rowing lake and turnaround point Retrace your route back to the marina then back to the finish line adjacent to transition Please DO NOT LITTER! Keep all used gel wrappers and bottles with you until you can bin them at the aid station. ALSO, please bear in mind that there will be mountain bikers, horse-riders and walkers on the tracks we do not have exclusive use of the rights of way. Post Race Remember you will need to show your race number to be allowed to remove your bike & belongings from Transition. Please Note that only competitors will be allowed to collect belongings family and friends cannot collect these for you. Presentations/Prizes at 10am at the finish area.
