Coached nine All-Americans and 36 all-region players at SLCC. 2003 SWAC Coach of the Year. Earned All-America honors as a player at Utah, leading the Utes to two World Series appearances. Amy Hogue Head Coach Third Season After leading the University of Utah softball team to new heights as a player, Amy Hogue now leads the Utes in her third season as head coach. The fifth coach in program history, Hogue compiled a 50-58 record in her first two seasons at Utah and sports a 247-140 after seven seasons as a head coach during her career. Under Hogue s guidance, Diana Phillips earned an NFCA First-Team All-Region award in 2008 and four different Utes have been name to the All-Mountain West Conference teams. Hogue played for the Utes from 1991-94 and earned second team All-America honors as a senior. In garnering All-America accolades, she hit.455, had 101 hits, 222 at bats and 55 runs scored. All of those numbers still stand as the school s top marks for a single season. Hogue also holds season records for triples (7) and runs scored (55). She led both the 1991 and 1994 squads to the College World Series. Hogue built and mentored Salt Lake Community College s softball team from 1999-2004, instantly creating a successful program. She went 197-82 (.706) in her time with the Bruins. The pinnacle of her tenure with the Bruins came in 2004. SLCC was the regional champion that season and placed sixth at the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. In 2000, the Bruins inaugural campaign, they won the Scenic West Athletic Conference title and repeated as champions again in 2003. At SLCC, Hogue coached 36 all-region players (22 first-teamers, 14 second-team nods), and coached nine All-America standouts. In addition to the players success, Hogue was named the SWAC Coach of the Year for her efforts in 2003. Coaching Staff Prior to moving to SLCC, Hogue was an assistant coach at Utah from 1996-99 where she was involved in all facets of running the program. Hogue got her start in coaching as Utah s graduate assistant coach from 1994-95. From there she went to Alta High School as an assistant coach from 1994-96. Since 1995, Hogue has coached an accelerated travel team. Currently called The Sting, she has guided her club squad to a.725 winning percentage. In the last two seasons, The Sting has racked up 137 wins. Her playing career at Utah was equally as impressive. As a player, she helped the Utes win two conference titles, two conference tournaments and two regional titles in making two Women s College World Series appearances. She captained the 1994 squad that tallied a schoolrecord 51 wins. In addition to the team s success, Hogue was Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, first team all-region and second team All-America in 1994. She was a threetime All-WAC player and was the team MVP in 1994. Hogue s name appears throughout the record book at Utah. In Utah s career record book, she still ranks third in at bats (703) and stolen bases (72), fourth in hits (239), and fifth in both hitting (.340) and runs (125). Her 101 hits in a season was one of the longest-standing marks in the NCAA, and she still holds the NCAA record for at bats in a game (14). The Utah standout briefly played professional softball. After college, she toured with the WPF Storm and was later drafted and signed to play with Durham Dragons. Hogue graduated from Utah in 1994 with a sociology degree and earned a Masters from Utah in social work in 1996. Brennan, Tessa, Sean and Kai. 4 Head Coach Amy Hogue The former Amy Timmel is a Sandy, Utah, native and is married to Sean Hogue. They have three children, Brennan (9), Kai (7) and Tessa (4).

Coaching Staff Adrian Gregory- Mendoza Assistant Coach Third Season Cody Thomson Assistant Coach First Season Adrian Gregory-Mendoza returns for her third season as assistant coach at the University of Utah. She came to Utah from the New England Riptide of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League. Gregory-Mendoza spent one year coaching with the Riptide after playing for two years as the starting shortstop with the NPF s Texas Thunder. She was drafted by the Thunder in 2005. A Livingston, Texas, native, Gregory-Mendoza began her coaching career as a student assistant for Texas A&M in 2006 while also playing with the Thunder. The Aggies went 34-19 that year and reached the NCAA Regional. Gregory-Mendoza coached and played at Texas A&M under former Utah head coach Jo Evans. She was a four-year starter for the Aggies, playing shortstop, second base and outfield. She had a career batting average of.284 with 197 hits, 29 home runs and 37 stolen bases and served as a team captain as a junior and senior. She led the Aggies to a Big XII Conference regular-season title and an NCAA Super Regional appearance as a senior. She was also named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VI Second Team. During her junior season, she was a first-team All-Big XII selection and was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team. The former Adrian Gregory married Rich Mendoza last August. Support Staff Steve Pyne Director of Events Kim Free Asst. Dir. of Marketing Cody Thomson enters his first season as a full-time assistant on the Ute coaching staff. A former USA Softball Men s National Team pitcher, Thomson has worked with the Utah softball team on numerous occasions, bringing a wealth of experience to the coaching staff. Thomson will work primarily with the Ute pitchers. Thomson has played for the national team since 2004. This past summer, he helped the national team finish second at the ISF Men s World Cup in Prague, posting a 2-0 record from the circle with 18 strikeouts. Thomson has played for the local Larry Miller team for the last 10 years. Most recently, he was named Best Pitcher at the NAFA World Series in 2006. A four-time ASA All-American, Thomson helped the Salt Lake Miners finish second at the ASA Men s 23-under National Championship twice. Thomson began his coaching career at his alma mater, Copper Hills High School, in 1996, and served as an assistant at Southern Utah University in 1998. Thomson is married to the former Amanda Tuft and has three children: Mikaela, Chase and Cayden.
