(Also bring an extra change of clothes) All ADX dancers are to be in a cover up (jacket) when outside of the dancing ballroom. Please do not put the staff in the position of asking your dancer to wear a cover up it will not be a polite request.
A parent is required to meet their dancer or the designated group of dancers outside their ballroom when classes have been dismissed for lunch and breaks. Please be timely in picking your dancer up at the conclusion of class at the end of the day too! We do not have a check-out system in place. Please make sure your dancer understands that they cannot roam off. They must wait until you arrive. Dancers under the age of 15 are not allowed to roam the lobby, ride the elevators, dine or shop on their own without adult supervision. Dancers that are found to be constantly on the loose will be turned over to Amanda and a parent will be called to return to supervise. Two dancers do not equal an adult! Dancers that are not engaged or behaving in a manner that is not ADX standard will be dismissed from the convention. A refund will not be given. Tremaine will have logo dancewear for sale. If your child is a born shopper, set a spending limit before you go so you won t be tapped out at the end. When purchasing dancewear, please remember the studio dress code especially no sequins and glitter for class! Tremaine convention staff will have time to autograph! Have your dancer approach them at the end of class to do so. Convention tees are usually $20-$25 and may be purchased from the Tremaine Booth. Purchase them early, items do sell out. Bring a permanent black sharpie for autographs unless you want to purchase one for $5. Please have your dancer on a schedule beginning Friday afternoon. When preparing snacks and lunches...more is better. Your dancer will need 2-3 sandwiches over the course of one day. Plenty of fruit, cheese, and vegetables are advisable. No grease, sodas, or pure sugar. Send 3-4 bottles of water daily. Your dancer will need to bring their snacks in an ice cooler! A small one on wheels works best. We will have a general meeting place for all studio dancers while on break. There are usually several studio parents around to keep a watch. Let you dancer know There is little to no time to pick up fast food. Dancers should not attempt to ride the elevator to their room for short breaks and lunch. Everyone is on the same schedule and the line can take up to 20-30 minutes to catch the elevator each way. If you are planning to sit as an observer, bring a sweater or sweatshirt because they keep the dance ballrooms at a low-frigid temperature. Feel free to bring a book or some work to keep you busy on the down time. Please turn off your mobile phone when you are in the hotel ballroom watching class. Observer passes may be purchased from the Tremaine merchandise booth-space permitting. Competition may begin as early as 4:00. The ballrooms will be opened for seating 30 minutes prior. If you want a good seat please be prepared to line up by 3:00. Competition entry is FREE! There is no entering and exiting of the Ballroom to change your dancer. Dressing space is provided and we are looking for several seasoned moms to assist several staff members with dressing, stretching and line-up. There will be a TV monitor for watching. Let Amanda know if you are available. If you will not be backstage dressing, please leave a cell number with Tamika. She will text you in case of an emergency. Keep your phone handy. There is to be no gum, candy, food, or snacks of any kind in the dressing room. Water bottles are needed. If your dancer has a blood sugar issue, please let Amanda know. Dancers will remain in the dressing room in assigned costumes until the awards presentation begins. When it is time for awards, your dancer will be walked to the stage by the Tremaine staff. ADX dancers will not wear baggy clothing or boots to the stage. Tremaine requires all to be in complete costume including accessories and dance shoes. ADX dance jackets may be worn. After the awards presentation, you may take a few pictures of the group onstage. Please escort your
child to the dressing area to inventory all of their things. They will also need to change out of costume. Feel free to leave your packed costumes with the ADX group in the dressing area until the competition comes to an end. ADX dancers are asked to show studio support by watching competition either before or after their age group has danced. Please bring a simple change of clothing for this. Costumes and accessories are not to be worn in the audience. It is important for all ADX dancers to watch the competition. They will gain valuable knowledge about the stage and performances of older and younger dancers than themselves. Video cameras are prohibited during class and competition. Cameras with flash are allowed during class...check your batteries and film! A professional DVD may be purchased of the dances we enter. Let Amanda know if you are interested. Label all dance shoes and costume items and instruct your child to not lose track of their dance bag. Imagine 1,000 dancers wearing the same shoes. During class, entire dance bags full of shoes have been known to come up missing. No shoes = no competition. ADX staff has been directed to assist parents and dancers with any questions or problems. If a dancer needs to be disciplined and their parent is not present, please find a staff member (Amanda, Tamika, Shelby, Chloe, Laura, Tessa or Kelsey) to handle the situation. Dance parents are not to correct or reprimand children other than their own. Remember that the ADX staffs of teachers and office administrators are working to help police and maintain order. Dancers and parents are expected to follow their directions.
