Page 2 A Note from the General Manager: Find your Member # hidden somewhere in this Newsletter and win a prize!! March Hours of Operations Todd Christian General Manager / Director of Golf A continued thanks to what has been a very active Membership the last couple of months. While our mainstay club amenities like the pool and golf course continue to be covered in snow, it has been a joy serving our membership in other capacities. One of our most successful Club events took place on Valentines Day with our annual Sweetheart Dinner. The décor of the Arlington House was quite romantic with fresh flowers scattered throughout while each couple enjoyed a four course meal prepared in-house by The Arlington Club staff. Admin Office: Mon-Fri 9:00am-5:00pm Golf Shop & Course: Monday 1:00pm-Dusk Tues-Sun 8:00am-Dusk Paddock Bar Tues-Fri 11:00am-8:00pm & Grill: Sat-Sun 9:00am-8:00pm We have also re-introduced our Vintner s Club Membership this year. Our first of six wine tastings featured Treasury Luxury Wines. The evening was hosted in the Arlington Mansion and Members enjoyed six different wines and hors devours beautifully prepared by The Arlington Club staff. This month please come experience one of Arlington s best traditions, the Fish Fry. Every Friday throughout February and March the Paddock Grill will offer an All You Care to Eat Fish Fry. Reservations are requested due to limited seating. Also continuing in March is Pizza and Pasta Night with our $6 Bottle of Wine Special. We look forward to seeing you here at the Club. Page 3 Golf News Fortunately our golf season is quickly approaching after some record-breaking snow. Had we thought to challenge EKU President Dr. Benson to shovel the course via Twitter, we could have been open for play in a matter of hours! On a more serious note, the snow has not had any major impact to the course nor club buildings. However, it has obviously slowed some on-course plans such as tree removal and the bunker renovation on hole #7. Our crew feels confident, barring any weather related issues, that various projects will still be completed for many of our season - opening leagues and events. In accordance with Club by-laws, the Golf Committee has been established to assist the General Manager and Golf Professional with Club rules, league play, Member events, and other golf-related activities. Currently the 2015 Golf Calendar and League Play are being established and will be finalized in the coming weeks. The committee is putting emphasis on league participation by focusing on changes to league rules. This should encourage faster play and a more enjoyable golf experience for all. One change will be allowing lift, clean, and place through the green during league Beginning with the upcoming play. Lift, clean, and place is the technical term.. less formally it means no more GHIN Handicap season The Arlington Club will flip the front buried lies in deep rough or tight lies around the greens. In addition to league play, the Player of the Year points system is being evaluated. and back nine holes. For instance, hole #10 will become #1. Coming soon, The Arlington Club will publish a 2015 Golf Handbook with exact The change will allow for better details of Member tournaments and Member leagues. The Golf Handbook will logistics around the clubhouse also include information on Club rules pertaining to the golf course, guest play, and allow the current 7-8-9 finish to become 16-17-18. This fees, course handicaps, Men s Golf Association, and Ladies Golf Association. The goal of the 2015 Golf Handbook is to create transparency for The Arlington Club will enable a stronger series of fundamental golf goals and to be utilized as a reference tool for both new and finishing holes for tournaments seasoned Members. and better spectator viewing. Please remember to consider the annual trail pass as an option to enhance your Arlington Club Membership. Many trail pass holders commented on both increased rounds played and overall club convenience. Additionally, cart fees will be increased to $8.00 (9-hole) and $16.00 (18-hole) adding value to the 2015 trail pass offerings. Also new for 2015 will be Member Sarah access Lipe to the Colonel Golf and Patrick Learning Center. Phelps The CGLC will be a great addition to an already outstanding Property collection Accountant of Club amenities. This will Food give & The Beverage Arlington Club an excellent opportunity to grow our junior and player development programs. This initial season Director will be utilized to create and plan for future events. Be on the look out for mega club demo days, clinics hosted by guest speakers, and premium club fitting options. We are very excited to implement the Colonel Golf and Learning Center into our 2015 calendar of events. Page 4 Please Welcome New Members: Mr. & Mrs. John and Anupa Trumbo Mr. & Mrs. Vince and Melanie Kurz & Family This Valentine s Day 80 Arlington Members enjoyed our spectacular Sweetheart Dinner here in the Arlington Dining Room. The four course meal included a complimentary bottle of wine and surf & turf dinner entrée. The mood was set by our guest pianist Dick Domek throughout the evening.

Page 5 A Message from the Arlington Board of Directors: It is important our Members are aware that just like household expenses, our Club expenses continue to rise annually. It is imperative that we as a Club take the necessary measures to continue operating in a fiscally responsible manner. Beginning on the April 2015 dues cycle, The Arlington Club will implement a 5% dues increase on all Membership categories. In addition to covering operating expenses, the marginal increase will allow The Arlington Club to maintain current Member services. The 5% increase will be implemented on the standard dues structure for each membership type: Full Family Membership $8.50/Month Full Membership Individual $6.75/month Associate Membership Executive Membership $5.00/month $4.25/month The Arlington Board of Directors remains committed to the very best Club experience in coordination with providing exceptional value in comparison to numerous Clubs throughout the country. Dues increases are very difficult decisions yet are needed to keep in line with annual expense increases. Vintners Club Our first Vintners Club tasting held on February 25th was a huge success! We would like to thank all of our Members who joined us and we hope everyone had a wonderful evening filled with food, wine, and friends. For those still interested in joining, please contact Sales & Marketing Director, Janelle Coates, for registration. All guests are welcome for $35.00 per person.
