February 2011 President s Message Before I start this President s Message to all the members. I would like to say Happy Valentine s Day to all of our female members and our male member s wives. All of you ladies are very special because anyone who would put up with our antics and hot rods has to be angels and I salute you. I always tell my wife Denise that when I grow up I want to be a kid. I want to thank my wife for putting up with me as well. Can you believe it is February all ready? Where does the time go? This has been a very interesting 2011 for me so far and I hope this is not representative of the year to come for me. As I have announced earlier, I will be going back to work sometime this month or next month. I am sure some of you are thinking how will this affect the Club? Well I assure you that I will remain your President and this will affect the Club in a very minimal way. I am tying up loose ends in planning our very first Club Putt for 2011. I d like to get a Club Putt in before we start our car show marathon next month. By the time you read this, I should have the details about the run and will provide it at the monthly meeting. The Putt will be sometime in February before the Big 3 and the Yuma Show. So keep your fingers crossed that I can make it happen. I will give you a hint. The scenery will be like the last run. It will start in the mountains and end close to the beach. Have you wondering or baffled? None of you will guess so you ll have to find out in time. The Pepper Tree show in Vista was quite a show! It just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. If that show gets any bigger, I don t know where they are going to park all the cars. The day was a little cold but as usual breakfast was good and the company was even better. Our boy Bob Chambers won a trophy as we cheered him on and our club won the Club trophy award for having the most cars. I want to thank all of you for making that happen. Make a special note for those of you who know of someone who is attending the STREAK from out of town and need a hotel room. I have spoken with the Kings Inn and they will offer a special group room rate of $62 a night during the STREAK. The group name is called STREAK 2011 or they may use the group confirmation # B0KQ11. So please pass this around and if anybody has any problems getting this group rate, contact me immediately. I am going to arrange to have this information posted in the STREAK portion of our Club Web Site. I also have tons of STREAK Flyers for any member who would like flyers to hand out to car shows. I will have them at the meeting for you. NSRA 2011 Fellow Pages... I will be collecting member s information for the fellow pages again this year. If you d like to be in the fellow pages this year. I need your NSRA number, your name, City and phone number. You have till February 20 th to get your information to me. Midnight at the Oasis, Yuma AZ.... Couple of things. If you haven t confirmed a room. You re running out of time. Call the Holiday Inn Express in Yuma and we have special room rates for our Club. MOST Important I am taking names and $10 at the meeting for reserved parking if you wish to park as a Club. You have till the monthly meeting to get me your $10 and information as I will be submitting parking reservations to MATO right after the meeting. Ralph

STREAK 38 UPDATE: HOT HOT HOT!!! It's hard to imagine, but Streak 38 is little more than 3 months away - which in our speedy lives means just around the corner! We'd like to encourage Gang members to register ASAP for the Streak so we know where we stand in counting how many participants will be attending. Please help the committee out by registering for the Streak no later than March 1, and if you have friends who have yet to sign up, please put the squeeze on them as well! Just go to our website: www.overthehillgang.com, download the registration form, and get your payment to Dennis right away! But note that CAMPING IS SOLD OUT! The Streak Committee has been SMOKIN'! Mike Newell has done a fantastic job getting sponsors to help us not only put this car show on, but will guarantee generous donations to our charities! We'd like to shout out a special thanks to our club member, Steve Cushman - whose CPA business contributed $1500.00! Thanks so much, Steve! Most all of the general raffle prizes have been purchased and Mike will definitely have some incredible Grand Raffle Prizes to peak particpants' interest! Entertainment Committee lead, Suzanne Stephens, has signed a fabulous dance band for Saturday night: Kicks! They have been performing around San Diego since 1986 and have a solid reputation to get a party started with their diversified playlist! Thanks to Suzanne for locking in a great band for us! Oh, and there may just be a sighting - due to popular request - of a certain all-female group for the first intermission. Let's just say... The Lemon Sisters meet American Idol! You definitely won't want to miss it! Goody bag stuffing will be at Ed and Jan Sawyer's on April 16th around 9:00 a.m. If you're not that involved in planning the Streak, then please help out stuffing bags!!! Any help is appreciated! And speaking of goody bags, we have a different type of giveaway this year that won't leave you cold... and looks hot!!! Intrigued??? You'll just have to wait and see! Thanks to the Streak 38 Committee for their continuing dedication towards another successful event! Joanne Witek Streak 38 Chair

WE BEEN CRUZIN' Well, after the beautiful day and car show at the Burger Run and the following week stayed the same, I thought it would be great to make a mountain cruise on the 15th. I made a few phone calls and some others made some calls and we ended up with seven couples in their cars (and 1 Volkswagen). Leaving Lakeside a little after noontime we had a leisurely cruise up to Santa Isabelle for Pie and Ice cream and a side trip to the bakery. We then journeyed up the hill to Julian for some more site seeing and possibly some shopping. Once into town Everett and Sue's 34 died just beside the Cider Mill. A couple of minutes later and they were pushed into the front lot of the Cider Mill right there on the main drag of Julian. Everett starts checking everything, thinks he has no gas pressure. He checks and there is still plenty of gas but no pressure. This is when Curtis decides it must have an air bubble or vapor lock somewhere in the system - long story short; there is Curtis on the main drag of Julian with hordes of tourist watching down on his knees giving the 34 Ford a blow job. Wow, now how is that for a good friend? It really worked! The car fired off and we gathered everyone up and off to the park for some more beautiful scenery, a photo stop, past the lake, and down through Descanso and on to the freeway and on our way to Fred's for more food and a raffle night. We really had a good time and hope to do more if the weather permits. --Esther Steve, Paula, Rosie, Larry, Everett, Denise, Sue, Guy, JoeP, Curtis, Marie, Suzie & Bob Anniversaries for February 17 years Chuck Bayuk 16 years Matt Giarrantano 16 years Joe Seabold 14 years Jack & Shiela Rabell 13 years Bruce & Pamela Gall 13 years Bill Kuhn 3 rd year Fred & Linda Loegel 2 nd year Len & Pam Greaser 2 nd year Phil Slaughter & Karen Lyons 1 st year Dick Earner 1 st year Joe Marciano & Dorothy Bangiola
