Ehsan played a key role in the resurgence of UAB basketball, as he helped the Blazers capture the 2015 Conference USA Tournament championship and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. UAB would go on to make shockwaves in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament, as the 14th-seeded Blazers knocked off No. 3 seed Iowa State, 60-59, to advance to the NCAA Round of 32. Ehsan and UAB enjoyed more success the following season when the Blazers won the 2016 Conference USA Championship with a 16-2 record inside the league. Additionally, UAB set school records for overall wins (26), Conference USA wins, road wins (10) and consecutive wins (14). Individually, Robert Brown, Chris Cokley, William Lee and Nick Norton were named all-conference, while Lee was tabbed the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and Dirk Williams the Sixth Man of the Year. A second consecutive trip to the postseason capped the year when the Blazers earned a berth in the NIT for the 12th time in school history. Prior to his time at UAB, Ehsan spent a season as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech University under Seth Greenberg and six seasons under Gary Williams at the University of Maryland, where he was heavily involved with many aspects of the program, including coaching, player development, recruiting, academics, scouting, scheduling and fundraising. At Maryland, Ehsan was instrumental in securing two Top 25 recruiting classes, and developed players like Jordan Williams, All-ACC, and ACC Player of the Year Greivis Vasquez. He was also involved in the recruitment of Brown, who was originally recruited by Ehsan at Virginia Tech before transferring to rejoin him at UAB, as well as UAB standout Lee and others. Ehsan played four seasons at the University of California, Davis. He started his last two seasons for the Aggies and was the team captain in his senior year. Ehsan finished 23rd in the nation in free-throw percentage as a junior for UC Davis, which was in a transition period while moving from NCAA Division II to Division I. At UC Davis, Ehsan received the Gordon S. Baranco Award, symbolizing exceptional leadership, unselfishness, work ethic and commitment to the team. Ehsan earned a bachelor s degree in economics at UC Davis and completed a Master of Business Administration degree at Maryland. Ehsan is a native of Sacramento, Calif., and is married to the former Lindsey Rattray. They have one daughter, Katelyn, and a son, Davis. 2 2016-17 UAB MEN S BASKETBALL GAME NOTES

WE RE GOING STREAKING UAB enters the 2016-17 season riding one of the longest winning streaks in the NCAA. The Blazers have won 25 consecutive home games and own the fifth-longest such streak in the country. UAB has not lost inside Bartow Arena since falling 79-70 to LSU on Dec. 18, 2014. In addition, UAB has won 18 consecutive home games against Conference USA competition. Kansas owns the longest home winning streak in the NCAA with 42 straight. Ironically, UAB and Kansas meet Nov. 21 in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo., in a neutral site game. BLAZERS ARE BACK! UAB returns all but one player from its 2016 Conference USA regular-season championship team. Among the 11 returners are four starters, led by juniors Chris Cokley, William Lee and Nick Norton. Cokley was named to the All-Conference USA Second Team last season, while Lee and Norton both earned All-Conference USA Third Team accolades. Additionally, Lee was selected as the 2016 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year and secure a spot on the league s all-defensive team. UAB also returns 2016 Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year Dirk Williams. Overall, the Blazers return 82.3 percent of their scoring and 92.8 percent of their rebounding. DYNAMIC DUO Blazer posts William Lee and Tosin Mehinti and both moving up the charts on UAB s career blocked shots list. Lee will enter the 2016-17 season second all-time at UAB with 146 rejections and will need 121 blocks over his final two seasons to surpass the 266 of Alan Ogg to become the school s all-time leader. Mehinti begins the season fourth all-time at UAB with 134 rejections and is only four shy of moving into third place. UAB ended the season with 202 blocks to record the sixth-most in the country. In addition, the 202 rejections were the highest single-season total in school history, surpassing the previous record of 187 set during the 1988-89 season. Individually, junior William Lee finished the season with 95 blocks and ranked eighth in the NCAA with 2.9 per game. Lee, who blocked at least one shot in all but one game, was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year while earning a spot on the All-Defensive Team as well. Lee s 95 rejections rank as the second-most in school history for a single season. Only Alan Ogg had more single-season blocks than Lee when he tallied 129 during the 1988-89 season. ONE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS UAB turned in one of its greatest seasons in school history in 2015-16 en route to its first Conference USA regular-season championship since 2010-11 season. The Blazers finished the season with a 26-7 overall record and a 16-2 mark in league play. During the season, UAB set school records for overall wins, Conference USA wins, consecutive wins (14) and road wins (10). The Blazers would go on to earn a bid to the NIT to mark the 12th time in school history UAB has participated in the postseason tournament. ALL-CONFERENCE QUARTET UAB made school history at the end of the regular season when four of its student-athletes were named All-Conference USA. Blazers Robert Brown (first team), Chris Cokley (second team), William Lee (third team) and Nick Norton (third team) became the first UAB quartet to be named All-Conference USA in the same season, breaking the previous school record of three selections set during the 2010-11 season. The All-Conference USA teams were selected by a vote of the league s coaches and a select panel of media representatives. NORTON LENDS A HELPING HAND UAB junior guard Nick Norton established himself as one of the top point guards in the nation through his first two years in a Blazer uniform. In fact, Norton led Conference USA and ranked 18th in the NCAA with a 3.0 assist/turnover ratio. Norton also stood third in the league in steals (1.6 spg) and fifth in assists (5.1 apg). The Bloomington, Ill., native enters his junior season with 294 career assists and needs only 35 more helpers to move into 10th place on UAB s all-time list. Last season, Norton finished with 162 assists to record the 11th-most in a single season in school history. UAB QUICK FACTS Name...UAB Nickname... Blazers Location... Birmingham, Ala.
