Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - March 8, 2016 Approved (B. Tabuno) 5. DEPUTATIONS 5.1. QEW/Credit River Active Transportation Crossings (Leslie Green, Manager, Transportation Manager and Dana Glofcheskie, Transportation Project Engineer) Leslie Green, Manager, Transportation Manager and Dana Glofecheskie, Transportation Project Engineer outlined the QEW/Credit River Active Transportation Crossing. Ms. Green spoke to the critical links and outlined the potential crossing points, the multi-level government collaboration with the Region of Peel and Ministry of Transportation, the active transportation detailed design, future project opportunities and next steps. Ben Gomberg, Manager, Active Transportation thanked staff for moving this project forward. That the deputation from Leslie Green, Manager, Transportation Manager and Dana Glofcheskie, Transportation Project Engineer regarding the QEW/Credit River Active Transportation Crossings be received. Community Environment Alliance (Sarah Verma Coordinator, Programs and Projects) Sarah Verma Coordinator, Programs and Projects spoke to the Community Environment Alliance community bike centre located in the City of Brampton that provides gently used bikes to families and offers free bike mechanic training. She outlined their mandate, promotion of cycling and increasing community development. Members of the Committee asked the following questions: plans to expand the program to the City of Mississauga; the budget amount to run the program and how they measure the program s success. That the deputation from Sarah Verma, Coordinator, Programs and Projects from Community Environment Alliance be received. Received (J. Giggs) Recommendation MCAC-0014-2016 6. MATTERS TO BE CONSIDERED 6.1. Monthly Active Transportation Update (Ben Gomberg, Manager, Active Transportation 10 minutes) Ben Gomberg, Active Transportation Manager spoke to the City of Mississauga successfully securing a $325,000 grant to build the Thomas Street project. He further spoke to the key project design for the cycle track on the LRT and the hiring of an individual for the Active Transportation Marketing Specialist position. Dorothy Tomiuk, Citizen Member spoke to the cycle track areas and the projected completion date of the LRT. 6.2. Community Rides Update (Donnie Morris, Citizen Member 5 minutes) Dorothy Tomiuk, Citizen Member and Donnie Morris, Citizen Member noted that they had secured the $8000.00 sponsorship cheque from the GTAA and that now they can start the promotion of the 2016 Community Rides. They further spoke to creating a new poster and route design. That the Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee (MCAC) enter into an agreement with CCN for the 2016 Community Ride registration system and that a fee of up to $1,200.00 be allocated from the 2016 MCAC budget.
4 Approved (I. Nayer) Recommendation MCAC-0015-2016 6.3. Tour de Mississauga Update (5 minutes) Jonathan Giggs, Citizen Member provided an update on the progress of SubstainMobility for the upcoming 2016 Tour de Mississauga. Discussion ensued with respect to SubstainMobility making a deputation to an upcoming Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee. 6.4. Joint Committee ofwestern Lake Ontario Cycling Committee (Irwin Nayer, Citizen Member 5 minutes) Irwin Nayer, Citizen Member noted that the organizing subcommittee for the Joint Committee of Western Lake Ontario Cycling Committee met to discuss catering options and spoke to the need for souvenir items to be placed in a swag bag to give to meeting participants. 6.5. Communications and Promotions Committee (Joanne de Cloe, Citizen Member 5 minutes) Joanne de Cloe, Citizen Member noted that the Communications and Promotions Subcommittee is currently working with Irwin on the Joint Committee of Western lake Ontario Cycling meeting. 6.6. 2016 Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee Work Plan (10 minutes) Barbara Hazel Tabuno, Citizen Members circulated the 2016 Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee Work Plan to members of MCAC for discussion.
