PERTH ROYAL CONDIMENT SHOW Small businesses now have the opportunity to enhance their brand through the Perth Royal Condiment Show competition. This opportunity is only open to commercial enterprises. The competition will recognise the finest condiments including jam, marmalade, preserves, honey, chutney, sauces and pickled onions. Judges will be looking for a combination of traditional and modern flavours. PERTH ROYAL CONDIMENT SHOW SECTION CONDITIONS 1. CLOSING DATES FOR ENTRIES: 4.30pm 28 July 2017. One Exhibitor per entry (online only). Online entries: http://entries.perthroyalshow.com.au 2. ENTRY FEES: $8.00 for one entry; 2.1 Refund of entry fees: There will be no refund of entry fees under any circumstances. 3. CONDITIONS FOR ENTRY: 3.1 All class entries are restricted to Commercial enterprises, herein after referred to as Exhibitors. Exhibitors must sell their products to the public, and items must be available for purchase at time of entry. 3.2 To qualify for entry into the competition, you must have a registered business name and ABN, which must be identified on the entry form. 3.3 Exhibitors are restricted to THREE ONE entry entries per class. per class. 3.4 All work must be the bona fide work of the Exhibitor. 3.5 Exhibits will be displayed for tasting purposes during the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show. Company contact details will be made available to the public for the duration of the show, unless otherwise requested. 4. QUANTITIES TO BE SUBMITTED: 4.1 Two (2) samples must be submitted for each entry: One commercially labelled for tasting purposes, and one unlabelled for judging. 4.2 All jars/bottles are to contain no less than 250g and no more than 500g. 4.3 Only clear glass jars or bottles are to be used. 5. LABELLING OF EXHIBITS: 5.1 The commercially labelled jar/bottle to show class and exhibit label on the item. 5.2 Unlabelled jars/bottle is to be affixed with RASWA Exhibitor judging labels provided. No use of commercial lables to be used. 5.3 All labels are to be affixed to the jar/bottle, not the lid. 5.4 Exhibit labels are posted to the Exhibitor before the delivery dates. 5.5 Ingredients must be listed on the unlabelled sample. Where possible, vegetables, tomatoes, pears and tropical fruits when preserved must include a preservative other than sugar e.g. citric acid/lemon juice. 6. DELIVERY OF EXHIBITS: 6.1 Entries are to be delivered to the Jim Webster Pavilion, Gate 2, Graylands Road, Claremont Showground WA 6010 6.2 Entries can be delivered on Wednesday 23 August 2017 from 8.30am-4pm. 7. INSURANCE OF EXHIBITS: 7.1 It is entirely the responsibility of the Exhibitor to insure and exhibit whilst in transit and for the duration of the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show. 7.2 Whilst every care is taken of exhibits, RASWA will not be responsible for any loss or damage. 8. JUDGING Judging will take place on Thursday 24 August 2017 from 9am. Judges have the right to refuse awarding places if in their opinion the product is not of satisfactory quality. All Judges are selected based on industry knowledge and expertise. All entries are assessed and judged "blind". Exhibits are judged on their own merits against a set of criteria. Exhibits in Class 1 to 29 will be judged according to the following scale of points: Texture\ firmness\viscosity Taste and quality Depth & length Mouthfeel and balance Total 9. AWARDS AND PRIZE WINNERS: Awards will be made as follows: Gold Award 17.0 points and over Silver Award 15.5 to 16.9 points Bronze Award 14.0 to 15.4 points 4 points 6 points 6 points 4 points 20 points Exhibitors gaining points reflected as Gold, Silver and Bronze medal places will receive a prize certificate.
Gold, Silver and Bronze winners will receive electronic medal artwork that can be displayed on product labels. Please note: Regulations regarding advertising and display of medals in point 10. 10. ADVERTISING AND DISPLAY OF AWARDS: 10.1 Producers shall not use medals, stickers, symbols or other evices on a bottle or any other form of packaging in order to misleadingly convey the impression that the exhibit has received an award at an open, objective and independent competition. CHAMPIONS EXHIBITOR GAINING MOST POINTS IN THE CONDIMENTS SECTION CHAMPION SWEET PRESERVE CHAMPION SAVOURY PRESERVE CHAMPION SPECIALITY PRODUCT 10.2 An Exhibitor shall not advertise or allow to be advertised by any means whatsoever and in particular by broadcasting, television, pictorially or in writing, the fact that any exhibit has won an award at the 2017 IGA Perth Royal Show unless such advertisement shows clearly: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) the name IGA Perth Royal Show the year of the award the class in which the award was won the title of the award won where applicable. Strawberry Jam Apricot Jam 10.3 Awards received by an individual exhibit shall only be applied to exhibits bearing the same name under which the exhibit was entered. In recognition that an exhibit could be entered in a show before an exhibit has been finally allocated to a Brand; portability of an award to enable it to stay with the exhibit which won the award shall be permitted on that condition, that the Exhibitor provide prior written notification on intent to the satisfaction of RASWA. Written approval for this change must be received by the Exhibitor from RASWA prior to applying the award to the renamed exhibit. 10.4 Awards received by a class of exhibits (e.g. 'Exhibitor gaining most points') shall not be used to suggest that an individual exhibit has received any particular distinction. These awards are not to be presented on the bottle in the form of a medal. 10.5 The use of gold, black and gold discs, bronze discs and silver discs to promote anniversaries, events, sponsorship and the like, must not be used. Stickers and symbols or other devices should be sufficiently differentiated from Show medals in terms of shape and/or colour to ensure no confusion. 10.6 Any Exhibitor who in the opinion of RASWA breaches any of these Regulations may be disqualified by RASWA from Exhibiting at any of its future shows as RASWA in it absolute discretion may determine.
