Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center in a game that can be followed with live audio at www.daytonflyers.com. Junior Kathy Guin had an assist and the game-winning three-point basket in the final 40 seconds of the game as Dayton tallied a 58-57 comeback win at Akron on Sunday. Guin finished with just five points and four assists on the afternoon, but dished out an assist on a layup by Brittany Holterman with 40 seconds left to knot the score. Then after Akron took the lead on a pair of free throws, Guin came down the court and drilled a three-pointer with 8.2 left on the clock to give UD a one-point victory. Guin has dished out 24 assists this season through the Flyers first seven games. She is also third on the team in scoring 7.9 ppg. while connecting on 9-of-25 (.360) three-point shots this season. The duo of Jennifer Strong and Holterman have combined to give Dayton a versatile combo that can score from both outside and inside. Strong leads UD in scoring at 14.4 points per game and has made a team-best 16 treys this season. Holterman is shooting nearly 60 percent (.593) from the field this season while adding eight assists and eight steals. Ashley Armstrong has used her ability to knive through opposing defenses to her benefit this season. The junior guard is among the A-10 leaders in free throw shooting while making 17-of-22 shots (.773) from the charity stripe this season. Her 22 free throw attempts also lead the team. She ranks fifth on the team in scoring (6.4 ppg) and is one of five Flyers to average at least 20 minutes per game. INSIDE THE SERIES Dayton won the first ever meeting between the two schools last season at UD Arena. The Flyers led from start to finish in a 76-62 victory behind 12 points from Jennifer Strong and 11 by Kiki Lund. This will be Dayton s first game in the Volunteer State since Jan. 20, 1995 when UD lost to then Great Midwest Conference rival Memphis, 89-43.

Michael LaPlaca www.daytonflyers.com Fourth Season at UD (37-56,.398) A-10 Conference Record (15-33,.313) 19th Season Overall (267-279,.489) Hard-working. Compassionate. Dedicated. These are just a few words that come to mind when talking with Jim Jabir. On April 8, 2003, the University of Dayton introduced Jabir as the women s basketball team s eighth head coach and first male head coach in the history of the program. After one season as an assistant, Jabir became the head coach at Buffalo State during the 1986-87 season at the age of 24. He led that team to a 14-11 record and guided the Bengals to the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship and an appearance in the Division III Tournament. The Flyers have been one of the most improved teams in the nation under the direction of Jabir. UD had the fourth best single-season turnaround in the nation in the 2004-05 season with an improvement of nine wins over the previous campaign. Jabir and Dayton continued the trend in 2005-06 with an improvement of five more wins, giving UD the second best improvement over a two-year span in the nation. I am going to be the hardest working coach out there, states Jabir. I want people to fear playing the University of Dayton. The 2005-06 season also saw two different Flyers earn Atlantic 10 All-Conference accolades as UD finished sixth in a conference that sent five teams to postseason play. Dayton also advanced to the Quarterfinals of the A-10 Tournament and finished with a winning record for the first time in five years. Jabir came to UD after spending one season as an assistant at Colorado. In his last season at CU, the Buffaloes (24-8) advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament and were ranked as high as 23rd in the ESPN/ Coaches Poll and 24th in the Associated Press Poll. Jabir was primarily responsible for the development of CU s post players, including the Buffaloes first-ever First Team All-Big 12 selection. Jabir had been a head coach for 16 seasons prior to coaching at CU with an all-time career mark of 220-223. His broad coaching experience ranges from the Big East Conference to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The Brooklyn, NY native began his coaching career as an assistant at Nazareth College (1984-85). As a Head Coach at Buffalo State (1985-86), Jabir was instrumental in leading the Bengals to a 23-3 slate, the SUNYAC title, a 22-game winning streak, an NCAA regional tournament appearance and a national ranking (No. 3) during the 1985-86 season. Jabir matriculated to Siena College from Buffalo State, where he served as the head coach of the Saints for three seasons (1987-90) and compiled a 50-29 record. Jabir s teams posted three consecutive winning seasons. In his first season, Jabir was responsible for the development of Siena s first-ever Freshman All- American. After his stint at Siena, Jabir spent six years at Marquette University becoming one of the most successful coaches in the history of the program, elevating the Golden Eagles into the national spotlight. After posting a 7-20 record during his inaugural year (1990-91) at Marquette, Jabir guided his team to four consecutive winning seasons, two 20-plus winning seasons and three post-season appearances, including back-to-back bids to the NCAA Tournament. In 1994-95, Marquette won the Great Midwest Conference Tournament, the first tournament championship in school history. This followed the 1993-94 campaign in which Jabir compiled a program-best 22-7 overall record and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament. Before his stint at Colorado, Jabir was at the helm of Providence College for six seasons, 1996-2002. During his last three years, the Friars record improved with each season and in his final season, the Friars finished 13-15 overall and eighth of 14 schools in the prestigious Big East, its highest finish ever since the Big East went to a one division format. Jabir, tabbed by Basketball Times as one of the Top 10 up-and-coming coaches in the country, was a twotime Reebok/Great Midwest Conference Coach of the Year. Jabir is a 1984 graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester, New York, where he received a degree in English. He also earned his Masters degree in Student Personnel Administration from Buffalo State in 1986. Jabir and his wife Kathy have three children, Lauren, Shane and Jackson. FLYERS PICKED SEVENTH IN A-10 PRESEASON POLL Dayton women's basketball was picked to finish seventh in the 2006-07 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Preseason Poll conducted by the conference's coaches and select media. UD was slotted behind George Washington, Temple, Xavier, Saint Joseph s, Charlotte and Richmond. In 2005-06, Dayton finished sixth in the A-10 regular season standings in a conference that sent five teams to postseason play (2 NCAA, 3 NIT). A STRONG SELECTION FOR A-10 PRESEASON HONORS Redshirt senior forward Jennifer Strong was named to the Preseason Atlantic 10 Second Team at the start of this season following a junior year that also saw her earn A-10 Second Team honors. Strong averaged 11.9 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per contest while averaging over 31 minutes per game. DRAWING ATTENTION FROM THE FLYER FAITHFUL An average of 1,604 fans per game saw the Flyers play in their 13 home games at UD Arena last season. During the 2004-05 season, Dayton drew 1,240 fans per game to UD Arena which will be a Regional host of the 2007& 2010 NCAA Women s Basketball Championship. The Flyers are scheduled to play 11 regular season home games in 2006-07 including two doubleheaders with the UD men (11/21 & 12/6). The paid attendance for UD s home opener (11/21) was 12,028. DAYTON PILING UP THE WINS Dayton had one of its best seasons in its Division I history in 2005-06. The Flyers recorded the most wins in its Division I history before New Year s Day (8) and its most since the 83-84 squad (had 10 wins by Jan. 1) that advanced to the NCAA Division II semifinals. They finished with the most wins since the 1984-85 season. FLYERS ON THE RISE After suffering through a 3-25 campaign in 2003-04, Dayton had the fourth-best single-season turnaround in the nation in 2004-05 with a 12-16 ledger that including a 6-10 mark in conference play, which was the fourth-best record in the A-10 overall. In 2005-06, the Flyers won 17 games and were one shy of the most wins in Division I history (18 in 1985-86). They have had the second best improvement of any team in the nation since the 2003-04 season. STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE The 2006-07 schedule features games against nine different teams that reached the postseason in2005-06. As many as five Flyer opponents advanced to the NCAA Tournament including Duke, George Washington, Indiana, Louisville and Temple. Also, Charlotte, Cincnnati, Saint Joseph s and Xavier participated in the WNIT last season. AN UP TEMPO ATTACK With 12 active players on its roster, Dayton plays an up tempo style that pushed the ball up the court and challenges opposing defenses to keep up the pace. In the 2005-06 season, Dayton tallied 64.4 ppg (fourth in the A-10). UD also shot.421 from the field (672-of-1597) which was fifth in the A-10 and 83rd nationally. This season, the Flyers are averaging 65.1 ppg(8th in A-10) while shooting.413 from the field (10th in A-10). FLYERS PILING UP THE POINTS After scoring at least 80 points just once during the first two years (2003-2005) of Jim Jabir s tenure at Dayton, the Flyers have nearly broken the century mark in each of the past two seasons. UD scored 95 points on Jan. 8, 2005 in a win over Saint Louis (95-73) and put up 96 points in a victory over Memphis on the opening weekend of this season. The 96 points scored on Nov. 11, 2006 was the most for the Flyers during a non-overtime game in 20 years. Dayton beat Cleveland State, 96-51, on Feb. 1, 1986. The Flyers are averagingt 65.1 ppg this season which ranks eighth in the Atlantic 10 Conference. DAYTON DISHING OUT THE ASSISTS Dayton was second in the Atlantic 10 and ranked 34th nationally in assists last season (16.00 apg). This season, the Flyers have recorded assists on 106 of their 164 made shots (.646). UD posted 20 assists on 36 field goals (.556) against Memphis on Nov. 11. They also recorded 19 assists on 21 made shots (.905) versus Winthrop on Nov. 12. The Flyers are third in the A-10 with 15.14 apg this season. THE EUROPEAN INFLUENCE The changes to Dayton s offense have come from a theory of attacking the defense with momentum and fluidity. UD Head Coach Jim Jabir got the idea for the new offense from former Marquette men s basketball player Tony Miller. Miller (point guard from 1991-95) and Jabir (coach from 1990-96) were both at Marquette and have kept in touch while Miller has been playing in Europe for several years. Miller came to Dayton and taught Jabir and his staff the new system before the Flyers 10-day trip to Europe last summer. IF ITS FREE, ITS FOR UD UD has made just 64.4 percent (87-for-135) of its free throws this season, which ranks 12th in the Atlantic 10 Conference. However, the Flyers converted 18-of-21 (.857) free throws at Indiana on Nov. 19. Dayton also survived with a one-point win at Akron on the strength of 16-for-21 (.762) shooting from the free thow line including a 10-for-12 performance in the second half. Ashley Armstrong connected on 7-of-10 free throws in the win over the Zips on Nov. 26. CHARITY STRIPE STUFF Although the Flyers shot just.678 from the free throw line last season (388-of-572), Dayton outlasted Wright State on Dec. 6, 2005 by hitting 15-of-16 shots from the charity stripe. On Dec. 28, 2005 Dayton beat Toledo 79-77 as Jennifer Strong broke a tie score with 2.6 left by draining two free throws. The shots capped a second half that saw the Flyers make 13-of-17 shots from the line. FREE THROW FRENZY Following the start of Atlantic 10 Conference play last season, Dayton shot.720 from the free throw line. UD connected on 10-of- 12 freebies overall at UMass on Jan. 4 in a 57-51 road victory in its conference opener. During the last 11 games of the regular season, the Flyers made over 78 percent of their second-half free throw attempts (137-of-175). In the second half at Duquesne, 20 of UD s 39 points came from the charity stripe as part of a 20-for- 25 effort. Also on Jan. 29, Dayton was 21-of-24 from the free throw line in the second half to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit in the win over Fordham. SETTING THE STANDARD Dayton has hit at least one three point shot in 166 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, which leads the Atlantic 10 Conference. UD is also ninth in the A-10 in three-point field goal percentage (.270). Senior Jennifer Strong has accounted for 16 of UD s 41 treys this season to rank fourth in the A-10 in three-pointers per game (2.29 per game). THREE BEATS TWO FOR UD Dayton secured a 62-46 win over Drexel on Nov. 21 by making 7- of-21 shots from three-point range. In fact, the Flyers shot better from beyond the arc (.333) than the Dragons did from the field overall (.276) in the game. Dayton has made six more threepoint shots on five occasions this season and UD has a 3-2 record in those games. The Flyers tallied eight treys in a 65-60 loss at Cincinnati. They also had seven makes against Indiana and Drexel as well as six versus Memphis and Akron. UD LIGHTS OUT FROM DOWNTOWN Last season, the Flyers were fourth in the A-10 in three-point shooting at a.343 clip (136-of-397), which was also the 61st best mark in the nation. Dayton finished the 2005-06 season among the best in UD history in a pair of three-point shooting categories. The Flyers had the sixth best percentage from beyond the arc and the fourth most three-point field goals in a single season. CONTROLLING THE ROCK UD s new fast paced offense has not come without a focus on valuing the basketball. At the end of the 2005-06 regular season, Dayton had the third fewest turnovers per game (19.0) in the program s history for a single-season. The Flyers are averaging 18.85 turnovers per game this season while forcing their opponents into 20.71 mistakes per game. Dayton ranks sixth in the A-10 with a +1.86 turnover margin. TAKING A STAND Another reason for Dayton s turnaround is its improved defense. UD allowed just 61.0 ppg in 2004-05, a vast improvement from the 68.5 ppg it gave up the previous season. Dayton held its opponents to 65.4 ppg in 2005-06. Flyer opponents have scored 65.7 points per game (10th in A-10) this season including just 42 points by Winthrop on Nov. 12. SIXTY SPELLS SUCCESS FOR UD Last season, Dayton was 9-0 when holding its opponent under 60 points. In contrast, the Flyers allowed an average of 72.8 ppg in their 12 losses. This season UD is 3-0 when holding its opponent under 60 points. CAN T STOP THE BLOCK Dayton ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference with 24 blocks in its first seven games (3.43 bpg). Nikki Oakland has accounted for 12 blocks this season to rank fourth in the A-10 at 1.71 bpg. FLYER BLOCK PARTY UD tallied 110 blocks overall last season with Nikki Oakland (34) ranking sixth in the A-10. The Flyers had the fourth most blocks in UD single-season history and the third most in the A-10. Dayton also ranked 80th nationally in blocks. BRINGING ANOTHER DEEP BENCH As a result of its fast paced offense, Dayton typically played 10 different players during every game last season. The starting lineup changed just three times and seven different players appeared in every game last season. Ten of the 12 active players on the UD roster have played in all seven games this season. J STRONG-ER THAN EVER Jennifer Strong is among the most athletic players in the A-10 with the ability to create her own shot while also being one of the team s best defenders. She leads the team with a streak of 78 consecutive games started to lead all Flyers. She averaged 11.9 ppg (T-18th in the A10) last season and tallied double-figures in scoring during 25 of the last 31 games over the past two years. AMONG THE STRONGEST FLYERS EVER Presason A-10 Second Team All-Conference pick Jennifer Strong already ranks 19th all-time in scoring at UD with 919 career points. She is one of just four Flyers ever to make 100 three-point shots in a career (now 107) and also ranks 10th in three-point shooting accuracy (.317). Strong hit 41 shots from beyond the arc last season alone, which tied for the ninth best single-season totals in program annals. She also ranks fifth in UD history with 28.5 minutes played per game. STRONG SHOOTING FROM OUTSIDE Forward Jennifer Strong ranks 12th in the A-10 in scoring at 14.4 points per game this season. She is also fourth in the conference in three-point shooting (2.29 3FGM per game) and 14th in steals (1.71 spg). Strong inbounded the ball with seven seconds left and then posted up on the right block. She then received an entry pass and was fouled while trying to shoot a layup. Strong proceeded to drain two free throws with 2.6 seconds left on the clock for a 79-77 win. PETERINK PUTS UP BIG NUMBERS AT UD ARENA Forward Amber Peterink had her top two scoring outputs of the 2005-06 season at home against Saint Louis and UT-Martin. It was also the most makes in the nation during the 2005-06 season without a miss. Lund tallied a career-high with 20 points against the Ramblers and played a career-best 33 minutes against Cincinnati. She tallied double-figures in scoring nine times last season.

She also led Canada to a third place finish at the 2006 FIBA Americas U20 Championship. Keil is a Third Team All-State pick out of New Jersey who broke the Sparta High School record for blocks in a season with 121. Lindsay was an All-Conference basketball player during her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons out of Chicago. Guin played in 28 games for NE Oklahoma A&M last season. She finished eighth nationally amongst JC players in assists (5.9 apg). Brown will sit out the 2006-07 due to NCAA transfer rules after joining the team from the University of Cincinnati. GUIN GETS IT DONE JC transfer Kathy Guin provided a spark for the Flyers in the season-opener at Louisville. WOMEN'S BASKETBALL INKS THREE DURING EARLY SIGNING PERIOD Future Flyers Will Join The Roster in 2007-08 University of Dayton head women's basketball coach Jim Jabir announced the addition of three players to the Flyer basketball family during the early signing period. April Austin, Kristin Daugherty and Ebony Gainey each made formal commitments to the program by signing National Letters of Intent and will be eligible to play for the Flyers beginning with the 2007-08 season. The group has been touted as the 29th best recruiting class in the nation according to the Blue Star Report at www.bluestarbb.com. That ranking was the highest of any school in the Atlantic 10 Conference and was ahead of schools from conferences such as the ACC, BIG EAST, Big Ten, Big 12, Patriot, SEC and WAC. "We are really pleased with the class," Jabir said. "This group will impact our program immediately in much the same way as this year's freshmen class is doing for us now. Our success on the court has helped us attract better talent each year and this class is another example of that development." Austin, a 5-7 guard from North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, has led the Trojanettes to a 60-22 record over the past three seasons. She was tabbed as one of the top freshmen in the WPIAL and has led North Catholic High School to the WPIAL playoffs in each of the last three seasons. Austin also led the PA Hoop Stars U16 squad to a fifth place finish at the 2005 AAU National Championships on Orlando, Fla. "Brings a lot of basketball knowledge to the program," Jabir said. "She knows the game very well and Pittsburgh produces really great women's basketball each year. April has a great attitude toward the game and she makes smart decisions." Daugherty, a forward from River View High School in Warsaw, Ohio, was named Ms. Ohio by the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association last year as a junior. She was also named Ohio's AP Co-Player of the Year as River View capped a 26-1 season with a State Title. A versatile athlete, Daugherty also plays volleyball at River View. "Kristin is an all-around player who is very smart on the court," Jabir said. "Her entire family in involved with her program at the high school level and that support has helped to make her one of the best players in Ohio." Gainey, a 6-0 guard from Dayton's Medowdale High School, was an Honorable Mention All-Ohio pick last season as a junior after averaging 15.4 points per game. She was named the SWPOL Player of the Year as a sophomore after averaging nearly a triple-double with 10.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game. "Ebony is one of the best high school players in the City of Dayton, if not the best player," Jabir said. "She is a super athletic lefty who can get to the rim and do a lot of different things. I think she is going to be an exciting player to watch. Hopefully, she will open the door for other local players to make that decision."

HOME AWAY FROM HOME Work began on November 6 on the renovation of the vacated Physical Activities Center. The PAC was the University's campus recreation center until January of 2006, when the $25.3 million RecPlex was completed. The renovated PAC will provide quality indoor practice space for 11 Flyer sports teams, including a dedicated full-court practice area for basketball. At the end of the 2006-07 season, the wooden playing floor currently at the Arena will be moved to the basketball practice gym at the PAC and a new "Tom Blackburn Court" will be used at the arena in 2007-08. * Dayton is scheduled to play 11 regular-season games at UD Arena.
