ROLEX FARR 40 ONE-DESIGN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP Hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club San Francisco, California September 8-11, 2004 NOTICE OF RACE 1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY The Organizing Authorities are the St. Francis Yacht Club (StFYC) in conjunction with the Farr 40 Class Association (F40CA), who are pleased to invite Farr 40 sailors to take part in the 2004 Rolex Farr 40 One Design ISAF World Championship. 2. RULES 2.1 The regatta shall be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the Notice of Race, the Farr 40 Class Rules and the designers and manufacturers original standards, which shall prevail in the event of a conflict, unless modified by the Sailing Instructions. All competitors are required to wear a life jacket or other adequate personal flotation device while racing. 2.2 RRS 51 will be changed in the Sailing Instructions so that: a) it will apply from the preparatory signal for the first race until the last boat finishes the last race, not just while boats are racing and b) the maximum amount of drinkable liquid on board each boat shall not exceed six liters per crew member per day. 2.3 The event is designated RRS Category C (Appendix 1, Regulation 20) for advertising as restricted by Class Rule 36. All participating boats may be requested to hoist a sponsor's pennant from the backstay, to apply sponsor's boom decals and will be required to apply a sponsor's decal and bow numbers to both sides of the bow for the duration of the regatta commencing immediately following registration until one hour after the finish of the last race. Whilst in harbor, boats are requested to fly the event flag from the forestay. The Rolex pennant, bow decal and numbers and the event flag will be provided by the Organizing Authority. Bow numbers issued for the Pre-Worlds regatta will remain the same for the Worlds and are required to remain on the boats from September 4-September 11. Supported by:

3. OFFICIAL LANGUAGE The official language of the regatta shall be English. 4. ELIGIBILITY Open to Farr 40 Class yachts as defined by the Farr 40 Rule Book. Owners/ Charterers and Substitute helmsmen shall be members of the Class Association. Each boat shall be entered by a member of a yacht club or sailing association that is affiliated with their Member National Authority (US Sailing or other MNA). 5. REGISTRATION Entry Forms and Fees are to be received by the St. Francis Yacht Club Race Office by August 8th, 2004. A copy of a valid 2004 Farr 40 One Design Certificate is to be included along with the entry fee of $1,000 USD and the entry form. Entries received after August 8th must include a late fee of $100 USD. Registration will be completed with the Organizing Authority as described below. Sail declarations may be made on site during sail measurement. Crew lists and ISAF classification rulings for all amateur sailors, along with designation of Class approved relief, substitute or chartering helmsmen shall be submitted to Farr International by August 20 2004. Late crew lists will be accepted at the discretion of the Farr 40 Management Group. By September 7 th, 1700 hours boats shall have completed the following: a. Complete Registration with the Organizing Authority, including fees, b. Entry Form and 2004 One Design Certificate on file with the Organizing Authority, c. Owner, Charterer and Substitute helmsman Class Membership Dues for 2004 paid and on file with Farr International, d. Skipper and crew weighing complete and liability waivers signed and on file with the Organizing Authority, except for late crew weighing on September 8, and for the approved crew substitutes during the event. Waivers must be signed prior to racing, e. Sail Declaration form on file with the Organizing Authority, f. Measurement forms complete and on file with the Organizing Authority, g. Crew classification declared and verified on the Sail/Crew Declaration form, and posted on the Official Notice Board, h. Class Rule Appendix 10 signed by all owners, tacticians and boat captains, and on file with the Organizing Authority. 6. MEASUREMENT AND INSPECTION Boats must schedule all measurement with Farr International. All Farr 40 ODs shall be made available at Andersons boatyard or KKMI for boat weighing, keel and rudder templating, safety equipment and boat inspections on September 1-3, accompanied by an owner's representative. Sail measurement will take place on September 6-7. a) Each boat shall be available for hull weighing in Builders Weight condition as outlined in the Class Rules, except that each boat shall have its mast stepped, with the standing rigging and boom attached, and the halyards led to the base of the mast. Each boat shall arrive with their safety gear assembled in the cockpit. This will be unloaded and inspected as the boat is weighed. All sails and the spinnaker pole should be off the boat prior to arriving for inspection and weighing.

b) Sails may be re-measured a maximum of one time if they do not meet the measurement criteria after the initial measurement. c) A maximum of three extra sails may be measured in addition to the nine that must be declared. (You can bring up to 12 sails to measurement, but can only declare 9). d) Random inspections may be conducted after daily races to check for compliance with Class Rules. 7. SAIL LIMITATION Sails shall be declared by button number during measurement. Only one set of sails in accordance with the Farr 40 Class Rules shall be used for the regatta. Sail buttons must be purchased and sewn on prior to scheduled sail measurement. Replacement of sails due to damage, using a buttoned sail registered to the owner/charterer or boat, may be permitted subject to written approval of the International Jury. 8. The display of code flag ( R ) on the finish line Race Committee boat will indicate that an additional race will follow.

9. SCORING The Low Point Scoring System of the Racing Rules of Sailing as described in Appendix A of the RRS shall apply, except that each boat s score shall be the sum of her scores for all races. Ten races are scheduled for the series, and a minimum of four races shall be completed to constitute the World Championship. 10. ALTERNATIVE PENALTIES RRS 44.2 is modified to read: After getting well clear of other boats as soon after the incident as possible, a boat takes a 360 degree Turn Penalty by promptly making one complete 360 degree turn in the same direction, including one tack and one gybe. A 720 degree Turn Penalty is required for breaking a rule of Part 2 inside the two boat-length zone of any rounding or finishing marks. 11. INTERNATIONAL JURY An International Jury shall be formed in accordance with the RRS, Appendix M. All decisions of the International Jury shall be final per RRS 70.4. 12. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration, as well as posted on the Club web site: www.stfyc.com by September 6, 2004. 13. COURSE The racing area shall be the San Francisco Bay Olympic Circle/Treasure Island Racing Area. Courses shall be windward/leeward as diagramed in the Sailing Instructions. Windward offset marks and leeward gates shall be used. An offset mark shall be set approximately 200ft to the left of the windward mark. Both the windward and the offset mark should be left to port. 14. TROPHIES Trophies for first through fifth place overall and individual race winners shall be awarded. The first place overall shall receive the Perpetual World Cup Trophy. The winning owner shall be awarded a specially engraved Rolex timepiece. 15. SOCIAL The St. Francis Yacht Club cordially invites all skippers and crews to attend each night s social event. In addition, all are encouraged to attend the Opening Ceremony that follows the Skipper s Meeting, and the Rolex Farr 40 Gala Dinner & Prize giving party. Dress is casual for all events. 16. DOCKAGE All participating boats shall be docked at the St. Francis Yacht Club by Tuesday, September 7, 1700 hours. All boats shall remain at the St. Francis Yacht Club while docked for the duration of the regatta. 17. SUPPORT BOATS Restrictions are designated in Class Rules and Interpretations. 18. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS Entrants intending to haul their boats out between boat weighing and the start of racing shall inform Farr International of the boat s location, and haul/launch schedule in writing. Boats shall not be hauled during the regatta without written permission of the International Jury.

19. ACCOMODATIONS Competitors should make their own arrangements and are strongly advised to do so as early as possible due to the high level of tourism. INSURANCE It is the responsibility of all the entrants to hold a valid insurance for Third Party Indemnity for not less than US $3 million. 22. DISCLAIMER Competitors agree to be bound by International Sailing Federation Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2001/2004, by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race. Competitors agree that the sole and inescapable responsibility for the nautical qualities of any yacht participating in the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship 2004, her rigging, the safety equipment on board and the competence, behavior and dress of her crew is that of the Owner/Charterer of the yacht. Competitors also agree to take any and all responsibility for all damages whatsoever caused to third persons or their belongings, to themselves or to their belongings, ashore and at sea as a consequence of their participation in the regatta, and hereby relieve from any responsibility, and agree to indemnify on a full indemnity basis and hold harmless, the St. Francis Yacht Club, the Farr 40 Management Group, the Farr 40 Executive Committee, their servants, agents and sponsors (in particular but not only ROLEX WATCH USA Inc., ROLEX SA and affiliated companies) and their representatives in respect of any claim arising there from. Competitors are to be acquainted with ISAF Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: A boat is solely responsible for deciding whether or not to start or continue racing. In any case, competitors agree that the St. Francis Yacht Club, the Farr 40 Management Group, the Farr 40 Executive Committee, their servants, agents and sponsors (in particular but not only ROLEX WATCH USA Inc., ROLEX SA and affiliated companies) and their representatives have no responsibility for loss of life or injury to members or others, or for the loss of, or damage to any vessel or property.

23. MEDIA RIGHTS Competitors and crew members on the competing yachts grant, at no cost, the St. Francis Yacht Club, the Farr 40 Management Group, the Farr 40 Executive Committee, ROLEX WATCH USA Inc., ROLEX SA and affiliated companies the absolute right and permission to use their name, voice, image, likeness, biographical material as well as representations of the boats in any media (being television, print and internet media), including video footage, for the sole purposes of advertising, promoting, reporting and disseminating information regarding the ROLEX FARR 40 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ( the regatta ) and the competitors and crew members participation to the regatta. Competitors and crew members on the competing yachts also grant, at no cost, ROLEX WATCH USA Inc., ROLEX SA and affiliated companies, the absolute right and permission to use their name, image, likeness, biographical material as well as representations of the boats in the Perpetual Spirit Yachting by ROLEX magazine, edited by ROLEX SA. Competitors and crew members name, voice, image, likeness and biographical material shall not be used by ROLEX WATCH USA Inc., ROLEX SA and affiliated companies in a way which constitutes an endorsement of ROLEX s products by said Competitors and crew members, unless the relevant competitor or crew member is engaged by ROLEX WATCH USA Inc., ROLEX SA and affiliated companies to endorse ROLEX s products or gives his/her prior written consent to such use. 24.
