Montana State 11 Swenson Gym Information The Swenson Gym is located on the Weber State campus. The Gym is in the upper floor of the Swenson Complex and is just west of the tennis courts and southwest of Stewart Stadium. Those coming to Wildcat volleyball can park just south of the Gym or in the parking lot of the stadium. The entrance to the complex for all games is on the south side. The ticket office and Will Call are located just inside the south entrance. Quick Hits Weber State returns to Big Sky Conference action this Saturday when they host Sacramento State at the Swenson Gym. The Cats have won two straight non-conference matches to improve to 16-11 overall this season. The Cats now have five conference matches left on the year and are currently 5-6 in league play, tied for sixth in the league standings. Cats wrap up non-conference action Weber State picked up a 3-0 sweep of Utah Valley Tuesday night in Ogden, in the final non-conference match of the season. WSU finished the year 11-5 in non-conference action, their best non-conference record since finishing 11-4 in 1995. Chelsea Bair posts another double-double Junior Chelsea Bair led the Wildcats once again as she posted her Big Sky-best 16th double-double in the sweep of Utah Valley. The Provo, Utah native finished with 17 kills and 13 digs in Tuesday s win. She has now posted double digits in kills in 24 of WSU s 27 matches this season and 66 times in her 92 career matches. She has posted double digits in kills 18 times this season. Bair is fourth in the Big Sky in kills this year at 3.42 per set. She is seventh in WSU history in career kills and ninth in digs. Burmeister also adds double-double for Cats Senior Leah Burmeister also posted a double-double in Tuesday s win over Utah Valley. The Lakefield, Minnesota native finished with 13 kills and 10 digs for her sixth double-double in the last 13 matches. Burmeister is averaging 1.98 kills and 2.37 kills per set this season. She is ninth in school history in kills and third in digs. In addition, she and fellow senior Brittney Bisaillon have now played in 117 matches at Weber State, tied for the ninth most in school history. They have also appeared in 446 sets, tied for the fifth most ever. Wildcats one win away from most wins in six seasons With a 16-11 record the Wildcats have matched their win total from last season when they finished 16-13. WSU is one win away from their most wins in six seasons, when they finished 20-13 in 2002. WSU has won 20 or more matches just five times in school history but just once since joining the Big Sky in 1988. Different start time this Saturday WSU s match with Sacramento State will start at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday at the Swenson Gym. The match has been moved back because the WSU men s basketball team is playing an exhibition game against UCCS at 5:00 p.m. at the Dee Events Center. Saturday will be a big day for the WSU athletic department. In addition to the volleyball and men s basketball games at night, the ninth ranked WSU football team will be at Idaho State at 1:30 p.m. In addition, Weber State will host the championship match of the Big Sky Women s Soccer Championship at 1:00 p.m. at the Wildcat Soccer Field.

WSU Head Coach Al Givens Al Givens is in his 16th season as head coach at Weber State. It is the 32nd year of volleyball coaching for Givens, with 30 of those years as a head coach. His career includes coaching volleyball at the high school, junior college and Division I levels. He is now the longest tenured active coach in the Big Sky Conference. Givens left Arizona Western in 1984 to take the assistant job at the University of Mississippi, and in 1985 was named head coach. In his one year as head coach at Ole Miss he led the team to a 29-15 record. In 1986 he was named head coach at Texas A&M University. He coached there for seven seasons and compiled a record of 123-122. In 1993 Givens became the ninth head volleyball coach in Weber State history. At Weber State he has a career record of 188-281 (.401) and is 97-138 (.413) in Big Sky games. In 2006 Givens was named Big Sky Co-Coach of the Year for the first time in his career. In 23 years as a Division I head coach Givens has a career record of 340-418 (.449). The Big Sky Conference is once again offering bigskytv.org as a resource to watch matches this season, but with a special twist. All games will be available free of charge for fans to watch live on the internet. Every football, volleyball, and men s and women s basketball game from a conference venue will be available free of charge. Games will also be available on demand for a fee. Follow the Cats on bigskytv.org. WSU host Sacramento State Saturday Weber State will gear up for the stretch run in the Big Sky when they host Sacramento State this Saturday at the Swenson Gym. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on KWCR 88.1 FM. There will also be live audio and live stats at weberstatesports. com and free live video is available at bigskytv.org. About Sacramento State The Hornets of Sacramento State enter this week with an 8-18 overall record. They are coming off a 3-0 loss at Pacific on Tuesday and will play at Idaho State on Friday before coming to Ogden on Saturday. This season the Hornets opened the year with a 2-14 record but have since gone 6-4 over their last ten. They are currently 6-4 in Big Sky action. The Hornets are just 1-8 on the road heading into this weekend. Sacramento State is last in the Big Sky in opponent hitting percentage and blocks. They also rank seventh in hitting percentage and kills. They are fourth in the conference in aces and digs. The Hornets have won the Big Sky regular season and/or conference tournament title 11 straight years. The Hornets are coached by Reuben Volta who is in his first season after taking over for Debby Colberg who retired last season after 32 years as head coach. Junior Desiree Hoyum leads the Hornets and is ninth in the Big Sky in kills at 2.83 per set. Senior Katie Van Der Wende is seventh in the league in digs at 4.01 and Eryn Kirby ranks fourth in aces. Earlier this season in Sacramento The Hornets won 3-2 October 4 in Sacramento in WSU s first conference road match of the season. Weber State won the first set but then fell down 2-1 before tying the match by winning the fourth. In the deciding set the Cats held a 7-3 lead before Sacramento State finished on a 12-4 run to win the match. The Wildcats were led by Leah Burmeister with 16 kills and a season-high 20 digs. Chelsea Bair added 14 kills and a season-high 21 digs. WSU finished with 86 digs on the night, the most of the season. All-time series Sacramento State leads the all-time series 22-6 over Weber State, including the win earlier this season. The Hornets had won nine straight matches in the series before the Wildcats won last season in Sacramento. In matches played in Ogden, Sacramento State leads 9-3 all-time and has won five straight. The last WSU win in Ogden came in October 2002. Looking ahead After Saturday s match the Cats will have just four conference matches remaining. WSU will travel to Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado next Thursday and Saturday. The following week they will wrap up the conference season with home matches against Montana and Montana State.
