RACE INSTRUCTIONS Abu Dhabi Junior Aquathlon Please read these instructions carefully to ensure you are fully prepared on Race Day Gulf Multi Sport and Emirates Palace are pleased to bring you the final race of the season of the Junior (Inter-School) Aquathlon Series for the 2015/2016 calendar year. The format of the event is a swim and then a run. If this is your first Aquathlon, we have a check list on the final page. If you purchased a yellow ChampionChip this will also be available at the registration desk. Please arrive early to ensure you do not miss the race briefing. The registration desk will open at 6:00am. Timing Timing will be provided by Premier Timing service and results will be posted online at www.premiertiming.com. Please note, the Tiny Tri Event is a non-timed event. If you have any queries or concerns with results please use the help centre on Premier Online.
Baggage Please note that there will be no secure baggage drop for this race, however your vehicles will be close by and use of the beach facilities is available until 10am. Food & Beverages Bringing your own Food & Beverages is not permitted inside Emirates Palace, with the exception of race specific water bottles and nutrition. We will have plenty of water available and all entrants will receive juice and a muesli bar on completion of their race. Spector tea and coffee will be available to purchase from Emirates Palace. Toilets and Showers Toilets before and after the race are available next to the beach as well as inside the West Beach Club. There are also showers on the beach so please bring a towel. Location Emirates Palace is located on the North West side of Abu Dhabi and along the end of the Corniche Road. Parking There is ample parking for all vehicles at the hotel. Please arrive early and allow for a short 300m walk from the car park to the start line. Access to the car park is around the outside of Emirates Palace on the West side and drivers should follow the signs to EPH Marina.
Prizes Trophy and medal presentations will be held at 9:00am on the beach. The Course The courses are described on the following pages. Please make sure you are familiar with the swim and run courses before race day.
Swim Course The Super Sprint 375m swim(yellow line) starts to the left of the beach around 3 boys and back to the beach for a run to transition The 200m Junior swim (blue line) starts on the left hand side of the beach, around two buoys and back to the beach for a run into transition (red dotted line). The Splash & Dash 100m swim is a simple out and back (green line) swim for 100m.
Run Course Super Sprint run course is one and a half laps with a turn back out to the end of the breakwater at the southern end of the marina.

Tiny Tri Event The Tiny Tri Event all happens on the beach so no requirement for transition. The Tiny Tri participants will either swim or paddle their way through knee deep water before running back down the beach to cross the finish line and receive their medal.
Transition The transition area is a short run up the beach out to the adjacent grassed area and will be well marked. There will be a marshal at transition to assist in case you have any questions. There is no transition area for the Tiny Tri as their event is all held on the beach (running shoes are NOT required) Aid Stations A water station providing Al Ain Water will be located at the start of the run course and each runner will pass it twice. It will be a warm morning and there will be plenty of water on the run course and at the finish. Finish After crossing the finish line all participants will be presented with a medal and refreshments. JUNIOR AQUATHLON Packing List Are you new to triathlons or aquathlons!? Here is a list of suggested equipment that will help you be at your best on race day! Mandatory: o Swim suit To reduce drag, tight swim suits are encouraged o Goggles Mirrored goggle will help filter the sun and reduce glare o Water bottle o Running shoes o Waterproof Sunscreen Application of sunscreen should be done 15 minutes prior to sun exposure for maximum protection o Shirt (for running) Can be the same as your swim suit, as long as torso is fully covered o Shorts (for running) boys- will be the same as swim shorts girls- you may swim in tight shorts that covers mid-thigh, or bring a pair of shorts to put on over top of your swim suit o Swim Cap (supplied at the event) Optional o Hat & Sunglasses o Socks o Towel o Wetsuit o Keep a towel at your transition spot to wipe the sand off your feet! o Foot dunk bucket Bring a bucket to fill with water to dip your feet in Other points to remember Arrive early and attend the race briefing to learn about the course directions Bring extra water with you to remain hydrated prior to and after the event Eat what you normally eat on race day; don t do anything too different! Bananas are excellent prerace fuel Get lots of sleep the night before you race Have fun & SMILE big when you cross the finish line!
