Clipping Coupons Don t forget Lions we are clipping coupons for the troops. District Governor Lion Gina is very passionate about this project. It is something that 1 st Vice District Governor Lion Sharon is planning on continuing. It helps our troops and if we can help them while they are serving us then by all means let s get on board and do this. Manufacturer s coupons clip them and bring them to a meeting and give them to lion Teddi she will get the coupons turned in. Thank you for your help. April 6 th there will be a party for Jean Martin from the Maplewood Lions Club. She was in a car accident in February and has been under a doctor s care. She will need another surgery in replace the screws they put in her neck. The American Legion Post on Sutton across the street from Shur-Way Auto Body is having A fund raiser for her and is asking everyone to come support her. If you want more details talk with Lions Leo and Sharon. March Birthdays Becky Mitchell 3/10 Dave Whitney 3/12 Norma Belcher 3/16 Randy Johnson 3/29 Bill Kleffner 3/30 March Anniversaries Max Burton 3/2002 Cheryl Davidson 3/2001 Tim Donze 3/2001 Lee Keefer 3/1967 Mid-South Leaders weekend April 19-20 in Memphis, TN it s a great learning experience. You meet with doctors, watch surgeries being performed on eye etc If you want more information just ask Lion Teddi. Recruiting Corner Think about when you first joined Lions. How were you invited to join? Did a friend, relative, or coworker invite you to attend a meeting or a Lions service project? Were you recruited at a membership drive? The more important question is WHY did you join the Lions? Think about someone you know that might want to be a part of helping the community. How can you spark their interest? Once you have a few names invite them to a meeting or event let them see what we do and let them decide. The number one reason why people do not join Lions is simply because they have not been asked. Now that spring is almost here it is time to think about the environment. Earth day is April 22 nd we should all be thinking of ways to make and keep the community better. Pick up trash you see on the ground. Recycle cans, newspapers etc Think about the future. If you want to go see Lion Teddi You will surely learn and have a wonderful time. Joke of the Month If you are a senior you will understand this one; if you deal with seniors, this should help you understand them a little better, and if you are not a senior yet... God willing, someday you will be... The $2.99 Special We went to breakfast at a restaurant where the 'seniors' special' was two eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast for $2.99. 'Sounds good,' my wife said. 'But I don't want the eggs..' 'Then, I'll have to charge you $3.49 because you're ordering a la carte,' the waitress warned her. 'You mean I'd have to pay for not taking the eggs?' my wife asked incredulously. 'YES!' stated the waitress.. 'I'll take the special then,' my wife said.. 'How do you want your eggs?' the waitress asked. 'Raw and in the shell,' my wife replied. She took the two eggs home and baked a cake. DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS!!! WE'VE been around the block more than once! Exercise program for people over 50 *Begin by standing on a comfortable surface where you have plenty of room at your sides. *With a 5-lb potato bags in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute and then relax. *Each day you ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move to 10 lb. potato bags. *Then try 50lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift 100 lb. potato bags in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I m at this level) *After you feel confident at this level, put a potato in each bag. HA-HA Just a note to Lion President Scott it s been a good year, you did an awesome job. Now sit back and relax. Until next time Happy Reading. [Type text] Page 4
