A strong freshman class along with some key returners have the Auggies on the upswing. With another season of improvement and recruiting, the Auggies could challenge for a playoff spot in the years to come. Senior Dan Graf leads the Auggies, who struggled to a 4-21 mark a season ago, which included fourteen straight losses at one point of the season. Graf is a two year starter for Augsburg and he earned All-MIAC honorable mention for his performances last season. Joining Graf on the interior is transfer Femi Solaja. Solaja comes from Fergus Falls Community College where he averaged a double-double with 17.1 points and 13.6 rebounds. The other starting forward is another transfer student in junior Mitch Dice. Dice transferred from Crown College where he was named All-UMAC honorable mention for his efforts at Crown. At the guard positions, freshman Jon Cassens and senior Chuck Scott are starting for the Auggies. Cassens has been one of the best rookies of the early season as he is leading the team in both scoring (14.2) and assists (5.0). Scott is one of the team's best shooters and is the heart and soul of this years Augsburg team. Two starters from last season who have been religated to coming off the bench are Justin Kozlowski and Grant Hemmingsen. These two bring experience and depth to an Augsburg team who was very thin a season ago. at Minneapolis; W, 73-51 Zach Johnson scored 17 and Jake Phillips added 15 points as the Knights matched a school record for shooting accuracy defeating Augsburg 73-51.
