The Coach Mary Lou Mulflur Head Women s Coach 19th Season In the history of the Husky women s golf team, two individuals stand out as the cornerstones for the program. The first is Edean Ihlanfeldt, the namesake of the Huskies annual fall tournament. She was Washington s first coach. So dedicated to seeing women have an opportunity to compete on the intercollegiate level, Ihlanfeldt never accepted a paycheck for her efforts. She funneled her salary back into the program. The second is current head coach Mary Lou Mulflur, who is in her 19th year of directing the program. A player for Ihlanfeldt, Mulflur s passion and commitment to Husky golf makes her former mentor proud. Mulflur s dedication, teaching skills and fundraising abilities have allowed her to build the Husky program into one of the nation s most competitive teams on an annual basis. Mulflur s efforts have not gone unnoticed. Following the 1999 season she was named Pacific-10 Conference Coach of the Year. It was the second time Mulflur earned the honor, with the first coming in 1988. Last season Mulflur led Washington to a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the best showing by a Husky team at the national championships. The 2002 season marks the 10th consecutive season Washington has advanced to NCAA Regional competition, every season since the inception of the regionals in 1993. s NCAA Championship appearance is the fifth by the Huskies in the past eight seasons. During the 2002 season the Huskies won Oregon Duck Invitational and the Peg Barnard California Collegiate and tied for fifth at the Pac-10 Championships. The team set a 54-hole scoring record at the Stanford Invitational, shooting 874 to shatter the old mark by 16 strokes. At the Spartan Invitational, the team recorded the lowest 18-hole total (285) in school history. In 2001, Mulflur saw Kelli Kamimura earn second-team All- America honors. She was the fourth Husky golfer to earn All- America recognition under Mulflur s tutledge. She has also seen 11 Huskies named to the All-Scholar Athlete team on 17 occasions, including Michelle Grafos in 2001.
