Note: No January meeting as we have our Banquet then. Banquet planning Raffle Chairperson As you know Ted O Fallin has decided to retire after many years of providing us with excellent prizes for the Raffles. Many thanks from all of us! John Irwin has kindly agreed to fill Teds large shoes in managing the Raffle in the future. Music and Entertainment Keith will contact Gary Kelly who has kindly helped us with music in the past, failing that the Secretary may be able to provide background music. The Secretary will also provide the presentation of the past year (hopefully!) Model Presentations - 3 categories Best scale (military or otherwise) Best sport (non-scale) Best ARF Awards nominations Categories Weedwhacker of the Year, Jim Bailey Community, Distinguished Service Awards, Builder of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Pilot, Most Stiches, Special Awards, 12 man Awards. And so ends an era Ted O Fallin is retiring as our Raffle Chairman after many years of service. Let s think back on what it takes to run a raffle at every club meeting, banquet and summer luncheon. First, there s the prize selection. Imagine going into the hobby shop every month. OK, bad example; we all love doing that. But now you have to buy stuff that s NOT for you, and you need to buy things that other people might enjoy without knowing which of the 150+ members might attend the event and what their desires might be. Ted s been doing this for many years, each month balancing the cost against the returns well enough to generate a few hundred dollars each year that he puts towards special prizes at the annual banquet. When you see Ted at the field or at the upcoming banquet, be sure to shake his hand. Sir, a job well done! John Irwin volunteered to take on the duties of Raffle Chairman. Please give him your support and ideas of what you might wish to see at meeting and event raffles. Gold Leader Club - 15 Years At our December club meeting, Tim Attaway (AMA District X Associate VP) presented the club with a plaque and patches recognizing the achievement of being a Gold Leader Club for 15 years! Only eleven of the more than 2,400 AMA chartered clubs have achieved this. The club was provided with a patch for each member. For those who weren t at the meeting, you can grab a patch from the safety cabinet. Annual Awards Banquet Here s one more plug for the banquet on Friday January 6th (flyer included here). The cost is $25 Page 4

topics will include general safety practices we follow at the field. Participation isn t mandatory, of course, but it s a great opportunity to squirt out some agent! per person + $20 for each additional family member. Payment is in advance through a club Officer. If necessary, we can collect payment at the door, however Scott needs to know today (while you re reading this) if you re planning on attending. We ll recognize some members for their achievements and contributions through the year and recent past. We have a huge raffle planned with prizes valued at more than $1000! We re also accepting donated prizes. As an example, a very generous member Chris McClure donated this Sig Rascal 40 with a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 and flight kit! If you have a donation worthy of a prize, please let me know ahead of time. I d rather screen the donations beforehand if possible. Please, no fuel tanks, tires or obsolete electronics. We re looking for donated prizes that will encourage attendees to buy tickets! AMA and Club Renewals Club renewals are due this week. The gate combination will change on January 1 st. It s only $60 to renew, with additional family members at half price and Juniors 19 years of age and younger are free. Don t delay! Get caught up! Happy New Year! Keith Fire Extinguisher Training, Saturday January 14 th Ron Keith will provide a hands-on Fire Extinguisher Class at the field starting at 9am. Other Page 5
