F F T T Benefitting Youth Fishing Programs and Marine Conservation in memory of Bud Tyska Introduction The Fins & Fairways Team Tournament will test the offshore fishing and golfing skills of each team. Teams are encouraged to represent various community businesses or organizations. This uniquely formatted event is all about having fun and supporting West Palm Beach Fishing Club (WPBFC) and Palm Beach County Fishing Foundation (PBCFF) initiatives! Benefitting Kids and Conservation Founded in 1934 to help promote the region s spectacular fishing, the WPBFC has a long and well documented history of civic activism. The Fishing Club and its charitable affiliate, the PBCFF, have been actively engaged in youth fishing programs and marine conservation efforts for decades. Kids Fishing Day, an environmental education and fishing adventure program for underprivileged children, has benefitted over 13,000 local youth since its inception. The WPBFC and PBCFF have coordinated and been involved with numerous artificial reef and marine habitat enhancement projects over the past 50 years. Other related initiatives like our Rod s & Reels for Kids program, S.A.L.T.Y. Angler Program, scholarships at area universities & high schools and game fish research efforts will also benefit from your participation. Thank you! Tournament is limited to a maximum of 30 four-person teams. Don t delay if you want to participate...at least one member from each team must be a member in good standing of the West Palm Beach Fishing Club (excluding sponsors). Schedule of Events Thursday, August 16th @ 6pm Team Captain s Party Held at the historic West Palm Beach Fishing Club 201 Fifth Street West Palm Beach, FL 33401 Complimentary drinks & appetizers At least one person from each team must attend, entire team is welcome. Friday, August 17th Team Fishing Day & Weigh In Party Boats are permitted to begin fishing out of any inlet in Palm Beach County at 6 am. Boats must return to the weigh-station at Rybovich Superyacht Marina by 2 pm to weigh-in fish and report billfish releases. Bar and restaurant open at the weigh station to all participants. Complimentary appetizers & cash bar (Participants can order food if they wish). Scoreboard standings posted at Weigh Station. Saturday, August 18th - Team Golf Day & Awards Party Lunch 7 am to 8 am - Registration, raffle tickets for sale, complimentary continental breakfast. Rules 1. TEAMS: Each team will consist of four people, one of which must be a member in good standing of the WPBFC (excluding sponsors). These four must be confirmed and registered by the date of the Captain s meeting. These same team members are required to both fish and golf. No substitute anglers/golfers are allowed after the Captain s Party. If one or more anglers/golfers are unable to participate, the team will be reduced to the remaining members. Other people are allowed on the boat (for example a captain, mate or photographer). However, only the four registered participants are allowed to fish. Anglers must be properly licensed to fish in saltwater. Vessel must possess an HMS Permit if weighing in tuna (excludes blackfin). 2. FISHING DAY HOURS: Fishing begins at 6 am. Boats can depart from any inlet in Palm Beach County. Boats must return by 2 pm to the official weigh station to weigh-in fish and report billfish releases. A score of 0 will be posted for teams not returning to the weigh station. 3. WEATHER: The decision to fish is solely the captain s choice. All anglers fish at their own discretion and risk. If the Tournament Committee determines it is unsafe to fish, each team will begin the golf day with a score of zero and the fishing awards will be added to the raffle. If weather is an issue on the golf day, the tournament may be reduced to less than 18 holes. 4. TACKLE: All fish must be caught on rod and reel (no electric reels). Kites, downriggers, planers and wire lines are permitted. No line test restrictions. Non-offset circle hooks must be used if targeting billfish with live or dead baits. No limit on the number of lines a boat can fish. 5. BOUNDARIES: Eastern fishing boundary is 25 nautical miles. Fishing in the Bahamas is prohibited. 6. ELIGIBLE WEIGHT FISH: Eligible species are: Kingfish - Dolphin - Wahoo - Tuna - Cobia - Snapper - Grouper - Tripletail - Billfish (release only). Fish must be legal size. No mutilated fish will be weighed. 7. GOLF RULES: A four-person scramble format will be used. Players are allowed to position their ball within one club length from the location of the chosen ball, no nearer the hole. On the green, the players ball must be placed, as close as possible, to the location of the chosen balls position, and no nearer the hole. Men age 64 and under will play the Blue tees. Men age 65 and over will play the White tees (except on the Hole-In-One contest hole where every participant must use the Blue tee). All ladies & golfers under age 12 will play the Green tees. Each team is required to use a minimum of three (3) tee shots from each team member during their round of golf. No mulligans are allowed. 8. CANCELLATIONS: No Refunds. If a team must withdrawal from the tournament they can give their entry to another four-person team, providing it is done the day before the Captain s Party.

FISHING DAY SCORING: SCORING Eligible species are: Kingfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, Cobia, Tuna, Grouper, Snapper, Tripletail & Billfish releases. Teams are permitted to score a total of five (5) catches. However, teams are limited to entering only three (3) of same eligible species (for example: only three kingfish could be entered, or only three billfish releases could be scored). The point chart at right will be used to determine a team s Fishing Day score. The maximum number of points a team can score is 25. In the event of a tie score for the fishing awards, the tie will be broken by the team with the heaviest single fish weighed-in. If further tie breaker should be necessary, time of weigh-in will determine winner. GOLF DAY SCORING: The point chart at right will be used to determine a teams Golfing Day score. For the golf awards and Overall Team Champion award, ties will be broken by the best score posted on the 18th hole, if this does not break the tie, scores will be compared working backwards on the card (holes 17, 16, 15, 14, etc.) until a score breaks the tie. FISHING POINTS 0 to 5 lbs = 1 point 5+ to 10 lbs = 2 points 10+ to 15 lbs = 3 points 15+ to 20 lbs = 4 points 20+ lbs and over = 5 points Billfish Release = 3 points GOLF POINTS Hole-In-One = 4 points Albatross = 3 points Eagle = 2 points Birdie = 1 point Par = 0 points Bogey = negative 1 point REMEMBERING OUR FRIEND BUD TYSKA Henry Bud Tyska was the longtime manager at Tuppen s Marine & Tackle in Lake Worth and an active Board Member/volunteer at the West Palm Beach Fishing Club. He was an avid angler & golfer. Bud was instrumental in helping the Fishing Club and its foundation produce successful community events, and was involved in the initial planning of this uniquely formatted tournament. He was especially supportive of our youth fishing programs. Join us in remembering Bud Tyska, a mentor to many and a man who touched the lives of countless people in our community.
