NEWPA Scholarship This year NEWPA has decided to give back! We will be sponsoring a $500 scholarship for one of our lucky junior members. Scholarship applicants must be a current NEWPA member, as well as a graduating senior, or enrolled in an undergraduate program. Each applicant is asked to submit an essay (250-500 words) explaining how ponies have impacted his/her life. All essays will be reviewed by the NEWPA board. The winner will be announced Saturday, July 1 st at the exhibitor s dinner at the NEWPA 60 th anniversary horse show. The deadline for all essays is June 20 th 2017. General Information 1. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current WPCSA and USEF rulebook will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. 2. STABLING: PERMANENT BOX STALLS WITH DOORS ARE AVAILABLE FOR $90.00 Request all stalls on entry blank. Stall fees must accompany reservations. NO REFUNDS ON STALLS. Initial bedding is not included but may be pre-purchased for delivery to your stalls. Please order bags of shavings with your entries. 3. EVERY ANIMAL NOT SHOWING FROM A STALL will be charged a $20.00 trailer fee. 4. CAMPERS: There will be a $100.00 fee for every camper. Spots include electric and Water. Some have sewer. 5. All Welsh ponies six years & over showing in breeding classes and all Welsh and half Welsh ponies showing in WPCSA performance classes must be measured or present a valid USEF or WPCSA measurement card. All ponies and cobs showing USEF days must show current USEF measurement cards or be measured at the show. Officials will be measuring on Friday 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Saturday from 7:00-9:00am and again on Sunday from 7:00-8:00 am non WPCSA members pay $5.00, unless measured by a USEF steward. 6. All classes will be judged on performance and soundness unless otherwise noted. Six ribbons will be awarded in all classes unless otherwise stated. All prize money will be distributed in the show ring. 7. There will be a $50.00 surcharge added to all checks returned by the bank. All entries not paid in full at the show will be charged a $100.00 billing fee. 8. All Welsh animals must be registered in the stud books of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America, Inc., or the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of Canada and must be entered under their full registered name, or if under one year, be eligible for registration. 9. Before numbers will be issued Exhibitors must provide the show office with a copy of negative coggins test, proof of rabies,proof of EHV-1 vaccine within 6 months, breed registration papers, applicable Measurement cards, and any applicable USEF membership cards. 10. The Northeastern Welsh Pony Association, WPCSA and the show manager take no responsibility for loss, injury or damage to animals, exhibitors, equipment and anyone connected thereto. 11.USEF Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes. 12. Junior exhibitors must wear approved protective headgear (ASTM/SEI) at all times whenever mounted or in a driven vehicle while on the show grounds. Harness must be secured and properly fitted. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is properly in place. 13. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASHES OR TIED IN A STALL AT ALL TIMES. 14. ENTRIES CLOSE June 20, 2017. Post Entries accepted for an additional $5.00/class above the regular entry fee. 15. All fees will be refunded if entries are cancelled on or before June 20, 2017. There will be a $25 office charge for all scratches after June 20. No refunds on stalls. Once the show has started horses that are not shown in classes in which they are entered forfeit their entry fee except if a horse is injured or becomes ill. Proper notification by a veterinarian and a scratch sheet must be presented to the office prior to the start of the class being scratched. 16. Rings are 100 x 200 with sand. 17. Motorized Vehicle Statement In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver's license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver's license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operaion. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. 18. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors, or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. 19. Farrier will be on call through out show 20. Food will be available on the grounds from approximately 7:30am until 4:00 pm 21. Classes with less than 3 entries will NOT receive prize money.

Best In Show $5 Nomination Fee per animal Neck ribbon and Prize to be awarded. Award will be based on placings in Breed Class and 2 pre-selected (exhibitors choice) WPCSA pointed performance divisions. No equitation classes will be counted for this award along with junior handler. Pony/Horse must be registered with the WPCSA. Pony/horse MUST be nominated and divisions specified by Saturday at 7:30AM. Forms will be available in show office. Previous Winners 2016 Glynhafan Stellar Wind Perpetual Trophies Mollie Butler Memorial Award An award developed to celebrate the versatility of the Welsh Pony. This award will be presented by NEWPA to pony and youth rider/driver combination accumulating the most points in all USEF recognized divisions. This includes Hunter, Pleasure Driving, English and Western Pleasure. This award will be presented on Sunday at the conclusion of the days schedule. Ron Schwartz Memorial Award Ron Schwartz, a long time competitor at our show, was a wonderful competition and showman. But in addition he was always available to help others, especially the younger generation. When he wasn't in the ring, Ron was usually alone ringside encouraging our juniors, helping them get ready for their classes and complementing them as they came out. The NEWPA Board of Directors created this award in his memory to be given to the junior who is in the option of the Board does the most during the show to carry on that tradition of sportsmanship. The award will be announced on Saturday evening and the name of the recipient will be listed on a perpetual plaque. Junior MUST have shown in Junior Handler to be eligible.

BREED CLASSES Entry Fee: $40.00 per class Animals are to be shown in hand at a walk and a trot except in group classes. PurebredWelsh to be judged 85% on breed type, conformation, way of going, quality and substance and 15% on disposition and manners. Natural reaching action is desired. Half-Welsh & Part Breds to be judged 85% on conformation, way of going, quality and substance and 15% on Welsh breed type, disposition and manners. Elite Welsh In-Hand Award NO ENTRY FEE Open to the Supreme Champion(s) of the Breed division, the Gelding division and the Half/Part-bred divisions. Overall winners will be decided collectively by BOTH judges. Champion Ribbon, Trophy AND Prize Money Will Be Awarded! $100 Minimum ( The more sponsors we get the More Money we can add!) Get of Sire- Entry Fee $40 Open to WPCSA Registered A/B/C/D/ 1/2 and Part Breds Three animals by the same sire, need not be the same owner. 61. Produce of Dam- Entry Fee $40 Open to WPCSA Registered A/B/C/D/ 1/2 and Part Breds Two animals out of the same dam, need not be the same owner. 62. Stonecroft Farms Breeder s Challenge A trophy offered to the best homebred champion Open to Sections A, B, C, and D. There is no entry fee. To be eligible a pony must have received a breed championship at any recognized WPCSA show in any year (including NEWPA 2016). In addition, the pony must be owned by its breeder at the time of the class. However the owner is not required to show the pony. Entrants should sign up for class on the special entry form in the show office. WPCSA JUNIOR WELSH HANDLER (Article 115.6) Entry Fee $15.00 Class open to juniors handling Ponies/ Cobs/ Half-Welsh/ Part Breds mares and geldings. Judged on the ability and skill of the Junior in handling their animal as in the breed ring. The show qualities of the animal shall not be considered, although cleanliness and grooming can be considered. Exhibitors enter to the left so as not to obscure the judge s view. The ring procedure should be the same routine used when judging standard halter classes. The judge evaluates the ability of the junior to follow directions, use space wisely, and execute the requested patterns. Juniors should appear ring wise, be alert to the judging progression and be prepared for changes in the judging routine. This is not a showmanship class and a showmanship pattern should not be used. 63. WPCSA Junior Handler 12 & Under 64. WPCSA Junior Handler 13 & Over
