Oliver added that rounding the home turn his mount lost ground after it hung out and ran wide on the track. J. Oliver added his mount was inclined to hang out down the straight and proved difficult to ride with full vigour. J. Oliver stated that at no stage of the event did his mount feel comfortable on the heavy track conditions. When questioned, trainer Mr B. Currie stated that the filly has performance best when able to lead, uncontested, on the rail. Mr Currie added that this is the first time the filly has galloped on heavy track conditions and he is of the opinion the filly failed to handle it. Mr Currie added that he is unconvinced the filly can run out a strong 1000m with its runs to date being over shorter journeys. Mr Lebrock When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey D. Griffin stated that his mount is typically slow to muster speed and he rode it with vigour early in an effort to ensure it established a competitive position in the field. D. Griffin stated his mount settled in a position worse than midfield and, whilst it has sound wet track form, failed to travel at strongly throughout the early and middle stages. D. Griffin stated that he was required to ride his mount along from the 800m to maintain its position and upon straightening, when he shifted wide on the track, it felt to lengthen stride and went to the line in a fair manner. When questioned, trainer Mr T. Edmonds stated that the gelding is a big striding horse and in his opinion appreciates a large track, with ample galloping room, as opposed to the tight turning circuit today. T. Edmonds added that whilst the gelding does have wet track form he is not convinced it handled the heavy conditions today with a heavy weight impost. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormality. Mr Lightning Slow to begin. RACE 5: Class 1 & Maiden Plate 1605m: Charlie Royale Raced wide in the middle stages. Ms Jokic stated that her mount was under pressure to maintain its position from the 600m and weakened in its run to the line. When questioned, trainer Mr A. Parramore stated that the gelding races best when it is able to lead and dictate terms which it was unable to do today. Mr Parramore added the gelding may not have appreciated the large weight impost on the heavy track conditions.
