KAF celebrates its fifth birthday this year which it shares with Kidderminster library s tenth birthday; yes they moved into the new building ten years ago! To mark the occasion we have joined forces and extended the festival for an extra week and commissioned some special new work don t miss it. Welcome to this year s fun-filled annual Arts Festival! KAF on the Streets Once again a variety of entertainers will be performing for you out of the goodness of their hearts. If you see a hat please be generous and drop some change in, our buskers make a huge contribution to the festival we want them to keep coming back. This year you will be able to vote for your favourite busker, the winner will receive the prestigious KAF best busker award. Your Views - We are conducting an evaluation of KAF and we want to know your views. You can either write to us at Wyre Forest District Council, Arts Development, POST MID 23694, Green Street, Kidderminster, Worcs. DY10 1HA, or speak to one of our researchers, either way you will rewarded by being entered into a draw for two tickets to a show of your choice at the Rose Theatre next season. Saturday 21st July ARTS MARKET Showcasing work of artists and crafts people from across Worcestershire, stalls will feature a wide range of high quality hand made goods including glass, painting, ceramics, woodwork, toys, textiles and jewellery. 10.00-17.00 Kidderminster Town Centre BREAD & BUTTER THEATRE Armed with a trunk full of trunks, swimming caps, goggles, armbands and verruca cream, the notorious Van Dunk Brothers boys will delight crowds with their award-winning dry land synchronized swimming display. Also appearing is The Gifted Space Cadet, the much-loved, lycra-clad hero materialises to the sounds of his very own theme music, bearing gifts of yellow Y-fronts from far away galaxies for audience members to wear. The audience then find themselves in a cosmic, comic game show with a mind-bending finale. DANCE WORKSHOP Come and get the benefit of professional dance training, try out contemporary techniques in these taster workshops. Monday 23rd July 2 GET MUCKY POTTERY WORKSHOP Come and learn how to use a potters wheel, it s not as easy as it looks! Either do one or both sessions if you want to make something really special. Friday 27th July PAVEMENT PAINTING Mac Victory will with your help turn the streets of Kidderminster into a piece of art. Come and express yourselves and brighten up the streets at the same time. 11.00-15.00 Outside Kidderminster Town Hall THE MYTH & MAGIC OF FINN MACCOOL From London Pekkos Puppets presents two exciting stories about Ireland's hero. In 'The Salmon of Knowledge' Finn gets the Gift of Knowledge from a magic fish. In 'Oona and the Giant Cu Chullain' Finn s clever wife helps him flatten Ulster's fierce champion. Saturday 28th July AL BODEN & THE ORGANIC HILLBILLIES - BIG JAM SESSION Al Boden has been entertaining since 1956, and between him and his band they ve probably got most instruments covered. The band will play a 30 minute set and then will share their musical know how with you. Come and have a jam, bring your instrument and learn some barnyard ballads from the experts. 11.00-13.00 Kidderminster Town Hall - Corn Exchange DANCE WORKSHOP Come and get the benefit of professional dance training, try out contemporary techniques in these taster workshops. Wednesday 1st August 2 U5 EARLY EARS MUSIC & MOVEMENT After a sell out workshop last year, Craig Trafford is back. Fun, body-brain activities for children under 5 and their grown ups. Using music and easy instruments the sessions build balanced bodies and bright brains. Don't miss it! EXHIBITION/INSTATION & DANCE Come and see this specially commissioned site specific dance piece created to celebrate the library s 10th and KAF s 5th anniversaries. High quality, innovative dance from Kidderminster College students. Accompanied by film installation made by film students from Kidderminster College with the help from Dancefest, The Cuckoos nest, Gifted & Talented dance group and Age Concern. The gallery also hosts an exhibition of the libraries history and KAF development. Library opening times.
