After placing second, third, second and fourth in their first four 2010 events together in Brazil, China, Italy and Poland, respectively, Alison and Emanuel placed ninth last week at the Moscow Grand Slam. Alison teamed with Harley Marques in 2009 to post nine SWATCH FIVB World Tour semi-final appearances in 2009 with seven podium placements, including a second at the SWATCH FIVB World Championships in Stavanger, Norway. Alison and Harley finished second on the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour point s list to Germany s Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann. Alison was voted the most improved player on the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Tour. Alison won a 2008 SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal with Pedro Cunha in Bahrain. Alison ranks 63rd in career FIVB earnings with US$218,500. Emanuel and Ricardo Santos netted two Olympic medals, including gold in Athens. The pair claimed the bronze in Beijing Emanuel and Ricardo won the gold medal at the 2003 SWATCH FIVB World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Emanuel and Ricardo won the gold medal at the 2007 PanAmerican Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Emanuel and Ricardo have won33 open and one Chalenger/Satelite FIVB gold medals, an international team record for men. Emanuel and Ricardo were five-time SWATCH FIVB World Tour champions (2003 through 2007). Emanuel ranks first in career men s FIVB earnings ($2,041,885). Emanuel has now competed in a record 1,211 FIVB matches with 979 wins (80.8 winning percentage). Emanuel (70) ranks first in FIVB gold medals. Emanuel (199) ranks first in FIVB tournaments played with his first event being in February 1994 at Rio de Janeiro with Aloizio Claudino. Emanuel has played in 1998 SWATCH FIVB World Tour events. Emanuel is one of three players to compete in all four Olympic Beach Volleyball competitions and is the only player to compete in all seven FIVB world championships. Counting domestic and international events, Emanuel has won 125 pro Beach Volleyball titles. Emanuel also won SWATCH FIVB World Tour point s title with Ze Marco (1996 and 1997),Jose Loiola (1999) and Tande Ramos (2001). Emanuel was named the SWATCH FIVB World Tour most outsanding player in 2006. Emanuel was named the SWATCH FIVB World Tour best hitter in 2006. Emanuel was named the SWATCH FIVB World Tour top sportsperson in 2005. Wu and Xu played in only one event in 2009 due to the Chinese National Games as the pair placed second in the season finale in Sanya, China, where they dropped the finale to Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil of The Netherlands. Wu and Xu last event together prior to the Sanya Open was at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games where they place ninth after being eliminated 21-15 and 21-18 in 41 minutes by David Klemperer and Eric Koreng of Germany. Wu and Xu are the only Chinese men s team to medal on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour since the start of the international circuit in 1987. Wu and Xu are the only Chinese men s team to play in a SWATCH gold medal match with five appearances together in 2008 in Australia, China, Croatia, Russia and France. Wu and Xu claimedchina sfirst-ever men s medal by capturing the bronze at the 2006 Poland stop with a third-place win over Marcio Araujo and Fabio Magalhaes of Brazil. Wu and Xu rank 20th on the all-time FIVB earnings list with US$499,600. Xu is playing in his 71st international event with $283,3975in winnings to rank 42nd all-time. Xu tied with Russia s Dmitri Barsouk as the SWATCH FIVB World Tour smost improved players in 2007. Wu is playing in his 62nd international event with $263,325 to rank 52nd all-time.
