Dear Club President, Attached is the Announcement Package for the 2019 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Skating Championships, to be held February 15-17, 2019. The event will be hosted by Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador and the Local Organizing Committee will be volunteers with the Silver Jets Skating Club. Please distribute the complete announcement package to all qualified skaters and coaches in your club. All skaters qualifying through the Divisional Championships must register online, after the completion of their Divisional event. The deadline for registration is January 23, 2019. No late entries will be accepted. All skaters receiving a bye must register online between December 5, 2018 and January 23, 2019. No late entries will be accepted. 2019 Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador Provincials Announcement EVENT: 2019 Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Skating Championships DATE: February 15-17, 2019 LOCATION: Steele Community Centre, Gander, NL Ice Surface 200x85 LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE (LOC): Silver Jets Skating Club ENTRY FEES: Category Discipline Fee STAR 4 Gold Singles $95 + $8 ODF = $103 PreJuvenile Juvenile Singles $95 + $8 ODF = $103 PreNovice Senior Singles $140 + $8 ODF = $148 ADULTSkate Singles $95 + $8 ODF = $103 Special Olympics Singles $95 + $8 ODF = $103 STAR 4/5 Dance $95 + $16 ODF = $111 (per team) PreJuvenile - Senior Dance $140 + $16 ODF = $156 (per team) PreJuvenile - Juvenile Pairs $95 + $16 ODF = $111 (per team) PreNovice Senior Pairs $140 + $16 ODF = $156 (per team) There is an $8.00 officials and technology development fee (ODF) per skater. Registration also includes a digital action photo. Photos will be available to download following the event. QUALIFIED SKATERS: All skaters qualifying through the Divisional Championships must register online after the completion of their Divisional event. The deadline for registration is January 23, 2019. Qualifying skaters must register and pay related entry fees during the SCNL Provincial Event. BYED CATEGORIES: All Star 8, 9, 10, and Gold Singles, CompetitiveSkate, Special Olympics, and ADULTSkate categories receive an automatic bye to the SCNL Provincial Championships. All skaters entering a byed category must register online no later than January 23, 2019. The link for registration is: https://skatenf.uplifterinc.com. The registration link will be open December 5, 2018 - January 23, 2019. No late entries will be accepted.
Byes may also be granted in single entry categories. It is the responsibility of the host committee to inform single entrants they are eligible for a bye, not later than 7 days after the closing date for entries. Skaters then have 7 days from the date of notice, to accept a bye and withdraw without penalty. Additional byes may be granted in extenuating circumstances and must be made in writing with supporting documents to the Executive Committee of Skate Canada Newfoundland and Labrador. AGE RESTRICTIONS: Age is considered to be the age of the skater before July 1, preceding the event. ENTRY DEADLINE: All byed and qualifying skaters must register online (https://skatenf.uplifterinc.com) by January 23, 2019. CATEGORIES TO BE SKATED: As per the 2018-2019 Skate Canada NL Technical Package. AWARDS: The top three placements in each category shall be awarded a prize. In a category where there are less than three entries, then the number of prizes shall equal the number of entries. MUSIC: Two copies of music are to be submitted on CD at registration. Each CD should be clearly marked with the following information: 1) Skater s name and home club 2) Category 3) Recording time of music 4) Master or Copy. COACHES ACCREDITATION: Coaches must be members of Skate Canada in Good Standing and be NCCP Regional Coach In- Training or higher. SCHEDULE: A detailed schedule will be posted online as soon as possible after the deadline. ON-SITE REGISTRATION: One hour prior to the start of the event.
MEDAL PRESENTATIONS: Medals presentations will be scheduled and posted in the arena. Skaters are asked to wear competition outfits and skates. QUALIFYING CATEGORIES: Provincials is a qualifying event for the Atlantic Canadian Championships. All qualified skaters must register and pay entry fees at the SCNL Provincial Championships. The top 6 skaters in the following categories will be selected: STAR 5, 6, 8, 10, Gold Singles, and PreJuvenile-Novice Singles. The Atlantic Canadian Championships will be held March 29-31, 2019 in Nova Scotia. More information will be distributed to qualifiers at the Provincial Championships. ACCIDENTS / LIABILITY Skate Canada, the Newfoundland and Labrador Section, and the volunteer team undertake no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by skaters. As a condition of and in consideration of their entries in these Championships, all competitors and their parents or guardians shall be deemed to agree to assume all risks or injuries to the competitor s person and property resulting from, or caused by or connected with, the conduct and management of the competitions and to release any and all claims they may have against the officials, the association, the Section, the Skate Canada, the volunteer team and against their officers and their entries shall be accepted only on these conditions.
OTHER INFORMATION: TV BROADCAST Eastlink TV will be broadcasting this event. Each competitor must complete the Skater Information Sheet with information that would be of interest to the commentators.
