Team Information IMPORTANT REMINDERS BIKE MECHANICS Lead up to bike check-in will be in the mechanics room. Did the mechanics bless your bike? If you are having any issues see them! Will be at the side of transition Sunday to help with last minute needs. Bike can t come out of transition but our team has been told they MAY enter transition to help you with minor needs of course. They will have a pump but time might not allow for them to air up your tires to try and borrow one from someone around you if you can. Packing your bike they will be crazy busy so unless you have major issues packing your bike, they might not be able to help you with this. 6

IMPORTANT REMINDERS MEDICAL Team Information Team USA Physician Dr. Andrew Getzin Please drop by his working office here with any chronic/long-term medications that you might be taking for various medical conditions. In addition, bringing a list of other medications you have been using helps in the case of any acute medical problem. A general list of medical conditions both chronic and recent is EXTREMELY helpful to the medical staff should any problems arise. Important that you just alert them of anything that COULD come up Chiropractor Dr. Joshua Dubin Miracle worker. If he can t get you to the starting line, I don t know who can. Event Details Race Packet Details During registration, you will receive two transition bags. In the ORANGE transition bag that says FINISH you have to put your belongings that you do not need during the race. You can hand your bag in at the Bag Drop Off tent at Transition T1 Elite (Kop van Zuid). After the swim you have to store your swim gear in the BLUE bag that says SWIM. Please place this bag on the position of your bike in Transition T1 (.5 meters or 1.5 feet). After the race you can pick up both transition bags when showing your accreditation wristband in the Bag Pick Up Tent on the Westerkade next to the finish. 16

Check-In Procedures Race a.m You MUST bring with you the following items to assure a flawless check-in process: Bib Number (place on race belt if you have one); on the front of your uniform if not. We have extra pins if you need them. Uniform (should have on your body) Bike with race number attached (be sure that it appears underneath your seat post) will randomly check for motors and unusual equipment (cannot cover) Helmet with race numbers attached (place on your head so it is quicker for them to analyze) three total put your helmet on your head; snug strap, no cracks Wheels that you will be competing with in the race Number (tattoo) placement on body and wetsuit Wetsuit check Wristband Carry some form of photo ID with you in case you need it 18

Race day check in: Add l Check-In Details Scout out the flow of transition so that it is very clear before you leave the area Be early to relieve stress Check mount and dismount lines Can use a towel BUT it must be rolled, not laid flat All marks will be removed by Technical Officials Drop off orange bag at the bag drop off Cannot have your standard bag at transition need to cinch top of bag IF YOU BRING YOUR OWN PUMP If you have a pair of shoes you are checking in at T2, don t forget your second pair to wear back to T1 19

Reiterate no parking at the venue The Technical Officials will check (greater clarity than previous slide) Uniform TYR 2013-2016 or ROKA only if you have a speed suit, must be worn under USA suit for the entire race Race Decal numbers both of your arms and both sleeves of your wetsuit (unless you have a sleeveless) Bib-number (on race belt preferably) must be on your back on the bike and on the front on the run! Timing chip check (1 for the left ankle) - disposable 20

Race day Details Pre-Start Procedures -Athletes will be called to enter the corral, in wave start order. Athletes will gather in the start area 30 minutes prior to the start of their waves You will cross a timing mat that will confirm you are starting in the right wave You will proceed to the start line An official will blow the horn to signify the start of the event. -When you are in the start area, the technical officials will guide you through your final progression. 21

Pre-Start Reminders Warm up bikes can t leave transition; trainers not allowed; swim bands are Swim warm up covered in the next slide Check your bike spin the gears and be sure brakes are not rubbing kiss your frame! Bring the water and drink you will need with you Everything you check in to the bag tent must fit in the assigned bag and marked with your race number and any other information you wish to add Ensure you have timing chip on your ankle before going to bed on Saturday. Do not take non-essential equipment to start line including excessive clothing. Pass to friends or in your bag at the gear check tent. If you take water, dispose of it accordingly in this area. Support staff will be positioned in and around the transition area if you need help with your bike, the USAT team will be there to help. No body marking age on calves 22

Race day Details Swim Warm Up AG athletes do have the possibility to do a swim warm up behind the start pontoon. In corrals 30 minutes before the start of your wave. For the start procedure there are 3 holding pens for the forthcoming waves and then one final one on the pontoon when the timing chip is activated and alerts Timing of you entering the water. 23

Race Start Procedures Follow instructions of the start officials they will guide you acordingly In-water start ITU official will say, On your mark Horn blast Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1. (all penalties are stop and go 15 ). Don t swim diagonally in the first few meters. 24

False Start Procedures False start example: Several horn blasts Everyone goes back to her/his spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in T1. (During the time penalty the athlete cannot pick up, drop or take off any equipment!) 25

Course Details Swim 750m Bike 1 Lap of 20km Run 1 Lap of 5km The run will end on the blue carpet on the straightaway just beyond the stands GRAB THE FLAG BEFORE ARRIVING AT THAT POINT! Remember, 1-1-1 26

Course Overview Swim -On 9/14 the water temperature was 64.4F (roughly 18 degrees C) -1 lap clockwise -Must take wetsuit, cap and goggles to transition -Allowed to pull wetsuit down to waste once you exit the water but you cannot remove your entire wetsuit at waters edge. -Must place ALL swim items in the blue bag in transition leave within.5 meters of the number on the rack (1 ½ feet) Legal Equipment: -Leg and arm covers are allowed -Wetsuits up to 5mm thickness; Neoprene cap is allowed worn under assigned cap -Vest warmers are NOT allowed -Gloves are NOT permitted -Any part of the body may be covered except the face, hands and feet 27

Transition Details Horizontal bike racks numbers will appear on racks four digits on T1 racks (last four numbers) and five digits in T2 (Example number is 52001 will appear as such in T2; will appear as 2001 in T1) As previously noted, all used equipment must be placed into TA1 bag. Not doing so, you will result in a warning at TA1. Worse yet, if it doesn t end up in the bag, it lands on an auction that ITU manages Bib number at the back on the bike If touching the bike, helmet MUST be buckled Mount line at the end of the TA 1 (GREEN LINE) Blue carpet from swim exit to transition area 30

Drafting allowed but, always stay on the right/ pass on the left; no drafting of the opposite gender Flat, technical 2 Littering Zones marked (20m before and 80m after aid stations)/ same location as the OD race Speak/Communicate often to athletes while riding to avoid issues... No aid stations on the bike Watch speed bumps Bike Course Overview There will be two penalty boxes on the DL Sprint course. If cited, MUST stop at next tent Tram line track will be covered and all current traffic furniture will be removed Disk wheels might not be allowed race day decision concern is cross wind on final bridge 32

Bike Course Penalty Assessment If shown a YELLOW card by Technical Officials they are supposed to also mention your race number - MUST STOP AT THE NEXT PENALTY BOX YELLOW = All other infringements stop and go penalty RED = DSQ They SHOULD call your number out so it is heard and so that you know it is you who is being cited. Be sure you know for certain if you are the person being called for a penalty. When reporting tell them your race number; time starts when you enter. DQ if no report. If cited with your bike, must have bike on right or left side...not straddled Penalties can also be served in transition - at YOUR spot - usually ten seconds don t touch anything at this time at your location Don t proceed until the official says you may do so Red cards are dq s but proceed anyway and race HARD! Can protest a DQ if you feel it is unwarranted note intent to file within 5 minutes of finishing to let ref know and 15 minutes of finish time to complete paperwork find head referee and a team manager 50 dollars to file Enforcement will be very, very difficult on this course 33

Finish Line Details As you finish, be at a full sprint when you hit the carpet. Don t sit and relax in the finish area - Go to recovery area Food and water available there Doping Control will be on site Photo ID is needed for any athlete called to doping control Pick up your bags at bag-drop-off, pick up your bike Bike check-out will begin as soon as the first finisher crosses the finish line If You are whisked to medical Call for the Team Doctor, Dr. Getzin, or a Team Manager Lauren/Tim We will manage bikes and other gear for you Photo cameras at finish can t crawl must be upright Last 100 meters catch everyone!! Last minute reminders, cont. Leg and arm warmers are allowed on the bike and run but can only be removed in TA. The Team USA cycling jacket or a clear jacket is allowed. Long sleeved shirts underneath your uniform are allowed but must be worn the entire event. MUST wear you bib number on the back on the bike and on the front on the run. Must be present at all times. If using a Go Pro, must have permission before event 44

Awards Ceremony Procedures DL Sprint Triathlon Awards Ceremony Sunday, September 17th at 8:00pm (to 11pm) First three athletes of each category are requested to be at the stage in the Maasilo at approximatley thirty minutes before the start of the ceremony. If you are a podium finisher, wear your parade outfit! 45

Uniforms and Apparel According to the ITU Rulebook, athletes must wear the approved team uniform. All uniforms must be TYR 2013-2016 or ROKA brand and have USA printed on it. Arm sleeves and compression socks are allowed but they CANNOT cover your bib number Can wear a branded hat/cap 46
