Kelowna Snowmobile Club Newsletter ************************************************ Roger Frost Christmas Dinner Meeting Jan 15 th. 2019 Rutland Centennial Hall Bar 5:30 pm - Dinner 6:30 Presidents Report Happy New Year I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! As 2018 passes by the Kelowna Snowmobile Club looks forward to 2019 with optimism and encouragement. Anyway, on to the business of snowmobiling! Between Christmas and New Year s, the club had one of its most profitable weeks in memory thanks to our employees working the trail heads at the Graystokes and the 201 selling day passes and memberships. Over 50 Years of Family Fun

Presidents Report Con t. The money collected fuels the club providing capital for grooming, insurance, administration, maintenance and other hidden costs that arise now and again. The unfortunate side of the business is a lot of members get a false sense of security when we announce our financials, with approximately $30,000.00 in the bank, when in reality we could be one break down away from being broke! The Kelowna Snowmobile Club is revamping our corporate sponsorship to fulfill the needs of our clubs long term sustainability, lobbying businesses and individuals to donate on a yearly basis. Unfortunately due to the nature of our sport and the growing concern of lack of volunteers, it s only a matter of time when most clubs will model themselves after Revelstoke, Valemount, Sicamous and Golden, who have or are in the process of creating business models. Not out of choice but need! The KSC is caught in the numbers crunch like many clubs in the province and will have to make some crucial decisions moving forward to maintain their riding areas and assets. Speaking of money, February 10, 2019 is our 35th annual Poker Run, with every rider given the opportunity to win $100,000.00 USD. I would like to thank our dealers, who graciously sponsored an insurance policy taken out similar to a policy that s provided when a golfer gets the chance to win a car or cash with a hole in one. It s the largest cash prize offered for a Poker Run in Canadian history and runs in conjunction with our 50th Anniversary. This is your last chance to win the $100,000.00 USD or cash prizes offered for 1st, 2nd or 3rd, also every rider that participates goes home with a prize. On a closing note I would like to thank my Board of Directors and Executive Committee for your commitment and dedication to the Kelowna Snowmobile Club and the sport of snowmobiling. The Board I ve been blessed with having taken this club to unparalleled heights and continues to work hard on behalf of the Kelowna Snowmobile Club. Your President Roger Frost KSC Christmas Dinner was a huge success with Santa showing up and surprising the kids with gifts.. 50th Anniversary T-shirts for sale at the Dinner meetings All black with the KSC Snow Hoots Logo 1968-2018

M&M The Hiltin Tim Gartel Tim was at it again got more helpers than he thought he could get. Parking lot for the wood cutting party at the Hiltin Thank you to all that helped, cutting, splitting and stacking the wood M&M Performance Hwy 97 N. 250-491-4800

Groomer Report With 2018 in the books and minimal snow conditions to start the year, the Kelowna Snowmobile Club s two main groomers Tom White and Connor Braham have done an incredible job pioneering and maintaining the trails. The club finally managed to maintain scheduled grooming throughout the week and will groom Friday and Saturday for the remainder of the season. Kelowna Snowmobile Clubs most Favorite Caterer Menu for Jan. 2019 Pork Roast & Lasagna Potatoes & Pork Gravy Veggies, Salads, & Desserts The club groomed 5 out of 7 days between Christmas and New Years and takes pride in maintaining smooth trails. Unfortunately a minor electrical issue disrupted our schedule one weekend and we apologize for the inconvenience. As snow conditions improve the club will be training groomers on an as needed basis. We appreciate all the help and look forward to providing smooth trails for the remainder of the season.

Here s a what a Poker Card will look like for the Kids.. All kids entering will be receiving a prize. Sample Card for Kids This Annual Poker Ride is open to everyone and there is no charge for trail fees that day so you can then take the $20 and buy a card with the chance of winning all sorts of prizes to cash as high as $100,000 USD all you need to do is show up at our registration table at the Graystokes Parking Lot, buy a poker card or two or five, then take a couple of hours and enjoy the ride around our marked Poker Ride Route from the parking lot to the three Chalets where you will be drawing a hand each time and back to the parking lot for your last hand and we then will enter the hand you picked into the computer to see if you got the matching hand and win the BIG ONE also once everyone has returned by 2pm we will be giving out Cash prizes for the three top hands and drawing names for all the other prizes and there will be lots and lots to give away. If your new to the area we provide maps to follow and the route is also marked so you can t get lost if you stay on the trail and remember, Stay right, as you will not be the only snowmobiler but one of a hundred riders that day, so you won t be alone... Come early and come prepared for all kinds of weather Food available at the end of the ride.. see you on Feb 10th... From Hwy 33, follow Three Forks Road to the Graystokes Parking Lot..
