SKATEYOGI S CORE VALUES 1. High Fives! SKATEYOGI starts and ends our classes with high fives to show each other respect and celebrate the moment we got to share influenced by a Zen concept known as Ichi-go Ichi-e: Treasure every encounter, for it will never recur. 2. SKATEYOGI SUMMER CAMP Ages 6 12 8:30am 3:30pm All Levels LOCATION: SKATEYOGI, 140 EMPIRE BLVD BROOKLYN NY 11225 10 WEEKS: JUNE 17 28, JULY 8 AUGUST 30 (PICK AND CHOOSE!) 4:1 Student to teacher ratio. Daily outdoor street skating practice session at Prospect Park or nearby parks. Weekly field trips to skateparks in NYC. Daily indoor ramp practice (air-conditioned). Message with photos sent to parents daily. SKATEYOGI Summer Camp is designed for students ages 6 12 of all levels. We group students based on their levels, so absolute beginners can learn the basics while experienced skaters can learn more advanced techniques and tricks. Skatepark etiquette and skateboarding topics are introduced throughout the camp. A weekly field trip to a local skatepark is held every Thursday.* Our favorite destinations include LES, Golconda, and Tribeca skateparks. STEAM learning activities related to skateboarding. Gear rental included. URBAN SHREDDERS Ages 8 14 8:30am 3:30pm Intermediate+ LOCATION: GOLCONDA SKATEPARK, BROOKLYN NY 11201 2 WEEKS: JULY 8 12, AUGUST 12 16 (PICK AND CHOOSE!) 4:1 Student to teacher ratio. Daily skate adventures. Daily field trips to skateparks and spots in NYC. Message with photos sent to parents daily. SKATEYOGI Urban Shredders is designed for skateboarders, who are comfortable skateboarding independently and have their own skate gear (skateboard, pads and helmet). Please note that drop-off/ pick-up location is Golconda Skatepark in Downtown Brooklyn (near the B/Q Dekalb Ave stop) and they spend most of the day outdoors.** Exploring the city and experiencing skate life like a local, everyone will develop understanding of different skatepark layouts and how to create their own lines. For over 20 years, the challenge, creative outlet, and community formed around skating has become a part of him. A graduate of Harvard School of Public Health, Kevin is passionate about promoting a healthy and sustainable urban lifestyle for all ages. Through SKATEYOGI group classes, after school and camp programs, as well as skate trips all around the world, Kevin has shared his love of skateboarding with thousands of students. Cancellations & Changes If you need to cancel your registration by May 16, 2019, we can issue a full refund minus a $150 per week processing fee. After May 16, 2019, no refunds will be granted. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Late pick-up SKATEYOGI reserves the right to charge $25 per 10 minutes as a late fee for picking up children after the scheduled pick up time. Extended Day We offer extended day for day camps during the school year only. Extended day is not available during the summer camp from June 17 August 30. FAQS Do you offer trials? While we do not offer any free trials, you are welcome to come see our space during our business hours or come in for a weekend class. Can my child attend 1/2 days or partial week? Due to the flow of our programs, we do not offer 1/2 days or partial week registrations. We offer no make-ups or credits for missed days. Where do campers come from? Our campers come from all around the NYC Metro area (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, the Bronx, Westchester, Hoboken, and Jersey City). We ve also had international students from Europe, Asia, and Central/South America. Can I speak with someone? My child has never done skateboarding. Will they be OK? We welcome absolute beginners! A day camp is a good idea if you want to see how your child enjoys skateboarding before signing up for our week-long camp. Do you have a waitlist? When our camp weeks become full, there will be a waitlist on our website. Please note that due to our small group size, our waitlist hardly ever moves and we recommend you register early or choose different weeks. Can my child participate in Urban Shredders? Can your child skate independently (knows how to stop, slow down, turn etc) and s/he has an interest in going on daily skate adventures around the city? If the answer is yes, then please sign them up! Otherwise, your child can come to our summer camp at SKATEYOGI. Some of our advanced students do both Urban Shredders and SKATEYOGI Summer Camp. Where is SKATEYOGI? Can I add more weeks later? Yes! As long as there s room! Some weeks sell out before the summer begins, but we would love to have you return for more weeks!
