1st Place: Bob Judkins & Frank Ingraham - 19 lb 02 oz We went east from the ramp. Fished as far up as the peach orchard. Oregon and Washington sides. Had a limit by 8:00 a.m. on Dry Creek tubes, Snake River Craw, and Frank's homemade jig. Culled the rest of the day, all day, mostly on Keitech Easy Shiner 4" Silver Flash Minnow 1/4 oz jighead. Big fish on the same. We caught 26 fish. 2nd Place: Ken Ponder & Terry McCoy - 17 lb 04 oz (no report) 3rd Place: Mike Ieletzky & Patrick O'Keefe - 16 lb 14 oz After a horrible few hours of practice upstream from the ramp on Friday, we went down river Saturday where the water was a few degrees warmer. We mainly fished points on flats in very shallow water. Apparently, the shallower the better. Tried plastics but couldn't get a bite on them so we focused on crankbaits - square-lip and lipless. 1st Place: Randy & Sheri Abbott - 18 lb 06 oz We fished upstream both days. Struggled day one but caught lots of twos and threes on various baits. Swim baits, crank baits, tubes. Probably 20 Fish on day one. Day two we were still struggling to find size again. We had two pushing 4 and three that were just under 3lbs. The wind picked up in the afternoon and then shut down the last hour before weigh in. Randy switched to about a 1.5 goby colored tube and culled three times in a matter of 10 minutes. We had moved out into 12-15 water. The number of fish weren t as good on Sunday compared to Saturday, but still a fun day. 2nd Place: Gary Harral and Jody Cagle - 17 lb 11 oz On Sunday I decided to go above the ramp since my downriver bite downstream was best when the water was up. I noticed at the ramp that The water level was lower than on Saturday therefore I decided to find some new water above the ramp. I tried some known spots early with very little luck and one spot where David and I have done very well on Saturday with crank baits so we went up river above Miller Island into areas I had not fished in over four years where Jody caught our first fish of the day with a little football head and hula grub so we kept pounding the bank I was throwing my crystal craw speed trap and after catching a couple of two pounders I connected with the 4 lbs. 6 oz. big fish of the day. We kept looking for areas near current but with a seam that we could fish we continued to catch two pounders down the bank. We found one area where the water was a little deeper so I started throwing a deep little N style crank bait Tuallitan craw color and hooked my second 4 pounder of the day. We caught occasional fish on swim baits and traps but the speed trap and some assorted deeper diving crank baits were our best bait for the day. Our last cull came in at 11:15 in the morning just could not get that 2 lbs. 12 oz. fish out of my live well with a nice three pounder which would have really helped us but we had a great day probably catching 35 to 40 fish. Most of our fish were in the 2 to 2.5 pound range.

From there we moved downstream to a small rocky flat off a bluff below the Canby Ferry and caught our first keeper, a 2 3/4, on a Biospawn wacky rigged worm. After catching only one more small keeper we moved down further to just below a hump in the middle of the river at about 10am where they were attacking swimbaits with Vince's coming on a 3.8" Keitech. We tried the rest of the day to cull a 1 3/4 but couldn't. 2nd Place: Dave & Brennan Osborn - 10 lb 14 oz We decided to head upstream 10-12 miles and fished for about 30 mins until we found a thick bladed grass patch with our crankbaits. It was in 3-4 ft of water and as the crankbaits came through and cleared the grass the bite came. We caught 4 smallmouth there. We then found a mud line where there was a distinct water clarity change with a submerged tree. We caught 3 largemouth - 2 on a rat-l-trap and 1 on a jerkbait there. Depth was 4-5 feet. That was 7 fish and two culls by 10AM. Our last keeper and cull came around 12-12:30PM off of a chunk rock wall where the rock transitioned to mud bank just out of the main current flow in about 5 ft of water on a rat l trap. That was a smallmouth which culled one of our largemouth. We weighed in 4 smallmouth and 1 largemouth. Mark & Steve with his 1st 3+ lb Smallie
