August 2017 Update of trade weights data underlying the EERs and HCIs The trade weights underlying the calculation of the effective exchange rates (EERs) of the euro and the harmonised competitiveness indicators (HCIs) of the euro area countries have been updated to reflect recent developments in the pattern of international trade. The updated trade weight data are available in the Statistical Data Warehouse (SDW): http://sdw.ecb.europa.eu/browse.do?node=9691510 The update includes revisions from 1995 and the coverage of the period up to 2015. More background information on the methodology used to compile the data can be found in http://sdw.ecb.europa.eu/reports.do?node=100000232 Furthermore, the series on EERs for the euro and for other trading partners currencies updated in SDW in August 2017 incorporate the information from the updated trade weights: http://sdw.ecb.europa.eu/browse.do?node=9691299 Table 1 reports the weights of the EERs for the euro, broken down by reference period and by group of trading partners (reported in the rows). Table 2 and Table 3 report the trade weights underlying the EERs of all reporting areas listed in the row vis-à-vis the trading partners in the column. Table 4 and Table 5 report the trade weights underlying the HCIs of each euro area country vis-à-vis all other euro area countries and a further 19 and a further 38 non-euro area partners, respectively. 1
