Modified breed specific rules will be followed throughout the show. 2. All gaited breeds as well as crossbreeds are allowed in the Open Classes, as long as the horse is gaited. 3. Ages of contestants are based on attained age as of January 1 st of the current fiscal year. Juniors are 18 and under, Seniors are 19 and over, as of January 1, 2013. 4. All Junior entrants MUST have parent or guardian s signature or their entries cannot be accepted. 5. Stallions may not be shown or handled by Juniors 6. Light shod or barefoot horse only. 7. Classes may be cancelled by show manager if less than 3 participants or split at the judge s discretion.
8. Any tack allowed in most classes. Western or English classes must wear appropriate tack. 9. Misuse of the whip, bit or spurs may result in disqualification. 10. No horses to be ridden in halter, bareback or double anywhere on the show grounds. 11. Riders must display # at all times while riding on the grounds. No other persons to be riding any exhibitors horse unless they are entered in the show. 12. Wearing of helmets for juniors MANDATORY. 13. Heeled riding boots MANDATORY. Entries must be received by June 1, 2013 The Interior Gaited Horse Show format allows entry into individual classes, to participate for one day only or still have the great affordable weekend rate at one low price! This will permit riders to affordably exhibit more than one horse throughout the weekend and also allow riders to select the class(es) in which they would like to participate. If riders find they would like to participate in additional classes, they have the opportunity to do so by entering individual classes throughout the show. The Interior Gaited Horse Show is now in its 16 th year. We encourage participants to invite their friends and horses, so they too can experience how much fun the Interior Gaited Show really is! Stabling: Please bring your own hay and feed. Please clean up after your horse if tied to your trailer. The show committee will bed and clean the stalls at the end of the show. Tack rooms are available for $30.00 for the weekend. NO nails allowed, use removable hooks Show Facility: The show will be held indoors at the Agriplex at the IPE Grounds downtown Armstrong. Camping is available at the show grounds for $15 per day. Some hook-ups available. Washrooms and showers available and yes, there is hot water in the showers! Hotels: There are number of nice hotels in Vernon, Armstrong and Enderby. Directions to Show Grounds: From Hwy 97A, turn at the traffic light into Armstrong, right at first stop sign. Follow road around corner to next stop sign and turn right. Cross the railroad tracks, take first left. You are on a one-way street, so get in right hand lane and proceed to stop sign. Go straight ahead and take the 2 nd right onto Park Dr. Proceed to fairgrounds gate, on right, directly across from skateboard park. Please come and join us at the 16 th Annual Interior Gaited Horse Show June 8 & 9, 2013 - Armstrong Fairgrounds Judge: Christine Schwartz, Vernon BC Welcome to the 16 th Anniversary of the Interior Gaited Horse Show This event has gained a reputation for being way too much fun! There must be a minimum of three participants or the class will be cancelled SATURDAY JUNE 8 10:00 am - Start your day by coming out to play! 1. Pole Bending - A row of poles must be negotiated in the fastest time possible. Five second penalty for knock down, elimination if off course. Any gait permissible. 2. Hurry Scurry Pattern will be posted. Riders must negotiate three poles on the right side of the course, cross the low rail in the middle of the course, negotiate three barrels, on the left side of the course, negotiate the low rail again and cross the finish line. Any gait permissible, fastest time wins, five second penalty for knock down, elimination if off course. 3. Plink Plunk Plop 90 second time limit. Rider will be supplied with a number of rings in which they are to place on or into various containers on the course. Placement will increase in difficulty with different point values awarded. If you miss, you move onto the next container. Riders are to repeat course until time runs out. Highest amount of points wins! Two courses may be run simultaneously 4. Gone Fishin individually run or if numbers permit 2 or 3 members to a team - which will be selected by the judge. On one barrel in the ring is a full bucket of water with items floating in it. Rider will have a container with which to scoop items. Each rider attempts to scoop out items and return to a second barrel, which has an empty bucket, and place their items into it. If teams are selected, any rider unable to scoop an item must make an attempt before returning to teammates, then the next rider may proceed. The rider that accumulates the most items wins. No cantering or galloping permitted. 5. 3 Gait Pattern - Walk, middle gait and canter. Pattern posted in morning, no discussion with judge on course design. A challenge for those with good horses and weak minds! 6. Senior Equitation - walk and middle gait 7. Junior Equitation - Walk and middle gait in both directions Riders are judged on their seat and ability to present the horse under saddle
8. English Pleasure - Horse is judged as a pleasure to ride, walk and middle gait 9. First Year Jitters Rider - not to have shown previously to 2013 walk and middle gait 10. Toilet Paper Ride - Riders are holding a piece of toilet paper between them. Winner is the pair that manages to keep the paper from ripping while performing maneuvers asked for by the judge, such as change of gaits and directions and sudden turns. Rider s hands may NOT touch. Riders to pick their teammate for this challenging contest 11. Schooling Class Part 1 This class is for those first timers, either horse or rider that are in their first year of showing. The judge will make evaluations in this part of the class, and will give each rider hand written evaluations by Sunday morning. Part B is class #37, in which the most improved horse/rider will be selected. Lunch break 1 hour 12. Tricky Trail - A series of obstacles will be set up in a designated order. Each obstacle will increase in difficulty and point value. Rider will have a set time limit to attempt to complete the course. An incorrectly executed or destroyed obstacle will count as zero points, three refusals and you must move on to next obstacle. This is not a speed event, no cantering or galloping, for safety reasons. There will be technical and scary obstacles, so please use common sense and caution. 13. Kentucky/Rocky Mountain Horse Pleasure - Walk and middle gait 14. Tennessee Walking Horse Maiden Horse 2 gait - Horse has not won a 1 st place in any show in a 2 gait class. 15. Peruvian /Paso Fino Pleasure Horses shown in bit or bozal at their best gait NEW: Two part class. Peruvians only judged and placed for points, then overall class placed - if there are Paso Fino s shown. Class #22 & #36 are also two tiered classes. 16. Country Western Pleasure - This is the Cadillac horse for those old farts with chronic aches and pains wanting to ride 50 miles just for a cup of coffee or for those youngsters wanting to go to 7-11 for slurpee! Judged on the horse s no fuss, easygoing manner and ground covering comfortable gait on a reasonably loose rein. Aussie saddles permitted. 17. Icelandic T2 Class - Traditional European Style Tolt class. Horses are shown at slow and faster speed tolt with rein contact and when the judge asks for it will be required to tolt on a loose rein at the speed of the rider s choice. 18. Kentucky/Rocky Mountain Horse Equitation - Walk and middle gait
19. First or Second Year showing Horse - Horse may not have been shown previously to 2012. This is a pleasure class. Walk and middle gait, judged 50% horse, 50% rider and harmony 20. First Year Showing 3 Gait - First year for the horse. Walk, middle gait and lope or canter 21. Tennessee Walking Horse 3 gait - Walk, middle gait and lope or canter 22. Peruvian/Paso Fino Studs & Duds Pleasure Two part class. See class #15. Stallions and geldings shown in bit or bozal at their best gait. SUNDAY JUNE 9 SHOW STARTS 9:00 am 23. Maiden Horse - Pleasure class walk and middle gait for horses who have never won a first place ribbon in any show under saddle in a flat class. 24. Kentucky/Rocky Mountain Horse 2 Gait Easy Rider - Walk and middle gait 25. Tennessee Walking Horse 2 Gait Easy Rider - Judged on the consistency & accuracy of the horses gait 26. Peruvian Open Gait - Bit or bozal in best gait. Points class. 27. Pleasure Horse Junior Rider - Walk and middle gait 28. 3 Gait Pleasure - Walk, middle gait and canter or lope 29. Icelandic Pleasure Tolt Class - Judge asks for tolt at two speeds. Judged are evenness of gait, difference in speed, how easily the horse tolts and how little the rider has to do to influence the tolt. 30. Obstacle Water Class - All riders in the ring at the same time carrying a glass of water Riders must go through obstacles in walk and middle gait at the judge s request. Most water left wins. 31. Bareback $5 bill class - Each rider places a $5.00 under their thigh, and rides to the judge s request. Judge may choose to move placement of money as class progresses. Last one holding onto their money wins the cash. (Please bring your own $5.00). Lunch Break 1 Hour Breed Demonstrations: to be held just before the first class of the afternoon. Ilona Berbekar will demonstrate the art of the Garrocha Spanish Dressage. 32. Well Aged Equitation - Combined age of horse and rider must be 65+
33. Kentucky/Rocky Mountain Gait class Judged on the consistency & accuracy of the horses gait. 34. Tennessee Walking Horse Equitation 2 Gait - Walk and middle gait 35. Golf Anyone - A slight variation of the egg and spoon ride. The ultimate challenge for a steady hand and a smooth moving mount. All horses are ridden along the rail at the same time, lose the golf ball and you are eliminated. Walk and middle gait. 36 Peruvian/Paso Fino Equitation - Horse shown in best gait. 37 Part 2 Schooling Class Rider must have participated previously in class #11. Judge will select the most improved horse/rider. 38 Command Class This class is always a lot of fun! Command class with required maneuvers to be called by the judge. Riders are eliminated for failing to execute judges requests successfully. Walk and middle gait only. 39 Icelandic Pleasure 4 Gait - Walk, trot, canter and tolt We would like to make riders aware that the Agriplex will not be open for riding on Friday night. Due to insurance regulations at the fairgrounds, riders must be registered and wearing their exhibitors number before riding anywhere on the grounds.
