MMHS Eagle HighFLIGHTS: 11-13-17 Eagle HIGHFLIGHTS: *MMHS Students of the Month for November: We would like to congratulate and recognize the following outstanding students for being selected as MMHS Students of the Month for November, by our English Department. Sophomores: Felicity Child & Austin Gordon Juniors: Amanda Randquist & Corbin Nelson Seniors: Kiera Allen & Troy Goodin *THREE MMHS ELLEVÉS NAMED TO 5A ALL-STATE DRILL TEAM: Three members of the Maple Mountain High School Drill Team were named to the 5A All-State Drill Team. Tiffany Asay, daughter of Suzanne and Dwayne Asay; Hannah Finch, daughter of Kim and Matt Finch; and Annie Merrill, daughter of Melisa and Chris Merrill were chosen to represent Maple Mountain at the 5A All-State Drill Team Auditions. Tiffany is a three-year member of the Ellevés Drill Team. She was an Assistant Drill Mistress her junior year and is the President/Head Drill Mistress this year. Tiffany was a Top Corp finalist at Basic Dance Training Camp this past summer. Tiffany enjoys biking, playing the piano, and swimming. Hannah is a three-year member of the Ellevés Drill Team. She was an Assistant Drill Mistress her junior year and is the Drill Mistress of the team this year. Hannah was a Top Corp finalist at Basic Dance Training Camp this past summer. Hannah enjoys reading, sleeping, and dancing. Annie is a three-year member of the Ellevés Drill Team. She was the Historian her junior year and is an Assistant Drill Mistress for the team this year. Annie was a Top Corp finalist at Basic Dance Training Camp this past summer. Annie enjoys dancing, playing with her puppies, shopping, hanging out with friends, and listening to music. The auditions were held on Wednesday, November 8 at Bountiful High School. Each 5A school sent three girls to represent their school at the auditions. There were 42 girls who auditioned. A cut was made after the girls showed their technique in some across the floor combinations in front of a panel of three judges who narrowed it down to 30 girls. Those girls were taught a short dance and then auditioned it for the judges, who decided which girls made the team. There were 16 girls who made the final cut. The 5A All-State Team will be recognized at the State Drill Team Competition that will be held at UVU in February. Congratulations to these girls for their accomplishments!

Other Important Information: *Accessing Student Grades and Report Cards: 1 st Term grades are posted and we want to be sure you can access your student s grades. Here are three ways to access those grades and the report card. 1. Parents can log into your existing SIS/Aspire account: https://sisweb2.nebo.edu/login/ 2. Students can go to lab C207 (Mrs. Richins) to print a report card. 3. If you need an official report card for an insurance company, etc. parents or students can request one in the counseling office. If you have never set up an SIS/Aspire parent account here is how to create one so you can access your student s grades any time of day, all year long. 1. Go to the SIS online page: https://sisweb2.nebo.edu/login.aspx 2. Request a User Name 3. Enter Student ID (your student s lunch number) and Birthday 4. Follow instructions from here. There is also a way to email forgotten passwords. *Attendance Information: Parents -- If your student checks out early or comes in after school has begun, please remind them to stop by the front office to sign in or sign out. This helps us in tracking the classes they have missed. Please understand that signing in or out does not automatically excuse a student s absence! A parent or guardian still needs to contact the school to excuse their student. As always, please contact Mrs. Davis in our attendance office if you have questions or concerns. MMHS School Musical The MMHS Fine Arts Department is gearing up for the performances of the Maple Mountain High School fall musical, Seussical. The show performs on November 10, 11, and 13 at 7 PM, with a 2 PM matinee on Saturday, November 11 in the MMHS auditorium. Seussical is a high energy show built around several familiar Dr. Seuss stories. This musical tells the story of a young boy who doesn t fit in so he uses his imagination to escape to places where he feels safe and normal. Watch as the mysterious Cat in the Hat leads JoJo through stories of elephants and clovers, one-feather-tailed birds, family, loss, hope, and finding your place in the world. Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults and are available at the door.

The cast will also be holding a special storytime before the 2 PM performance on Saturday, November 11. We are calling it Seussapalooza and anyone can come to hear the cast read Dr. Seuss stories, play games, and learn a section of choreography. This event is free of charge, and those who learn the choreography will be invited on stage after the matinee performance to dance on the stage with the cast. *FCCLA Members! Come bowling with us and Utah County FCCLA at our annual Region 4 activity! There was a mix up in the flier that went out! The time for this event is from 6-8 PM, NOT 4-6. Meet at BYU Bowling Alley. Contact Emily Eggleston or Mrs. Knotts for carpool information or with any questions. *MMHS GOLD RUSH WEEK (Nov 6-17): MMHS Student Council is sponsoring the Gold Rush/Food Drive Week to benefit Tabitha's Way in Spanish Fork. This is an annual tradition at MMHS, and in past years we have reached a goal of over 30,000 items of food for Tabitha's Way. We want to break the record this year!! We will be accepting donations from November 6-17 and students are encouraged to bring in food items or canned goods to their classes anytime. Student Council will also be involved with Hobo Thursday during lunch on Nov 2, Nov 9 and Nov 16 where they will be asking students for extra change that can help buy Thanksgiving dinners for up to 20 students who are needy within our school. Every donation is appreciated! *Follow Mrs. Nielsen, our Principal, on Instagram: Our principal is on Instagram!! She would like to highlight school assemblies, programs, events, classes, students and staff. Please follow her on Instagram by searching for principal_nielsen or Principal DeAnn Nielsen.
