NOTES 1 ZANEF DRESSAGE RULES The events will be held under the ZANEF Dressage Rules 2014 and where these are silent the FEI Dressage Rules 2014 will apply. FEI Rules will apply to the FEI dressage tests. 2 ZANEF ATHLETE CATEGORIES FOR COMPETITION A Pony Rider is a child under 12 years of age, and as such, a Pony Rider can only ride a pony, and can only compete in a Pony class. A Pony Rider ceases to be a Pony Rider on the 1 st January after reaching the age of 12 years, when he/she becomes a Young Rider. A Young Rider can ride a pony in a Pony Rider class or a horse in a Junior/Adult class. A Young Rider ceases to be a Young Rider on 1 st January after reaching the age of 14 years, when he/she becomes a Junior Rider. A Junior Rider can ride a pony or a horse in a Junior/Adult class. A Junior Rider ceases to be a Junior Rider on 1 st January after his/her 17th birthday when he/she becomes an Adult Rider. An Adult Rider can ride a pony or a horse in an adult class. He/she may opt to stay a Junior Rider until 1st January following his/her 18th birthday. In exceptional circumstances, where a child under 12 years of age is riding a horse, the Federation may use its discretion to allow the child to compete as a Young Rider in a Junior/Adult class. However, the child would not be permitted to ride a horse in a Pony class. 3 ZANEF ENTRY LEVEL 3.1 Horses competing at Entry Level do have to be registered with the Federation. A Member can compete at Entry Level if he/she wishes. 4 ZANEF ELIGIBILITY FOR TESTS/COMPETING Horses are eligible to compete in a grade if they have reached the standard for that grade on the eve of the closing date of entries for the event, and / or one grade above only A Horse may not compete in more than two grades at any one event unless otherwise provided for in the schedule. A Horse/athlete combination may not compete in more than four tests per day. (Prelim / Novice only for Elementary and above only 2 tests per day) A Horse can be ridden by only one athlete in a day Page 4 / 5
NOTES All Horses must be registered with the Federation to compete in events under the auspices of the Federation or FEI Horses should not take part in competition under the age of 4 years.
