Tigers Boys Basketball Scoreboard Trans. 8th 16 STA 30 Trans. 6th 19 Gethsemane 40 T I G E R S BOYS BASKETBA L L NEWS 8th/7th Grade The 7 th & 8 th grade boys team put up a hard fought battle against the Cadets of St Thomas Academy on Weds. night here at Transfiguration. The Tigers came out strong with a 9 point lead. Unfortunately the height and size of the Cadet s wore down the Tigers and put the game out of reach with a 16-30 finish. The boys are doing a great job of sharpening their basketball skills and have an amazing can-do attitude! Go Tigers! Wow... The boys had a great week of basketball netting two wins for the week. It was a lot of fun seeing them on offense working together as a team to move the ball to get a good shot and to see the boys on defense playing as a team. Unfortunately, a lot of our shots didn't fall but it was great to see the progression. 6th Grade The boys had an away game on Thursday night at Gethsemane (just down the road from us). They tried hard, working as a team. Running their offense. However, the shots didn t fall enpugh times to keep the score close. This camp is designed to prepare athletes for the upcoming season through skill-development drills and high repetition. Each participant will receive individual instruction from coaches and players from Hill-Murray s Baseball Program. Our instructors will teach drills and techniques that will refine your child s skills and provide a foundation that will allow them to continue to improve even after their camp experience is over. Transfiguration Catholic School Athletic Director Watch for volunteering opportunities. During the Winter sports season we will need help with the scoreboard. We will be in need of help with not just the scoreboard and score book, but also Admissions and Concessions. Go to Sign Up Genius to see the dates, time slots for volunteering help. Be aware that coaches, assistant coaches and volunteers need to be current with the VIRTUS training. Any student athlete that wants to play on more than one team in the same season can explore that option, just be aware of the chance of more time conflicts. Anyone can join the Tiger Pride Booster Club at any time during the year. It is a fun group and the money they raise selling concessions helps with the school sports teams. Over the next several weeks we will needs a lot of help at basketball games. Both regular season CAA games and at the tournaments we host. On 01/18 & 19 we are hosting the 8th grade level tournament. On April 6 the Black & Gold celebration will take place in the school gym. It is a fun time for all. The HIGHLIIGHT of the evening (in my opinion) is the new inductee into the Transfiguration Athletic Hal of Fame. Watch for upcoming events. Basketball playoffs in mid to late Feb. Spring Sports sign up forms. Baseball, Softball, Track, and Lacrosse (if we get enough players). Booster Club Golf outing in May. Athletic Banquet in late May.
Swim Team We have had three practices and it has been great to see all of our swimmers smiling faces back in the pool to kick off the new season. Our new swimmers are going through evaluations to be placed in the correct practice group and we are already seeing improvements with all of them. This year we have three new swimmers from Transfiguration, Allyson, Dylan and Mitchell; and 24 new swimmers in total from our five schools. The Swiminators is a joint team consisting of Presentation, St. Jerome, St. Jude of the Lake, St. Peter and Transfiguration with many wonder volunteer parent coaches and returning Swiminator Alumni who student coach with us. If anyone still wants to try competitive swimming, you can still submit and athletic registration form and try 2 or 3 practices to see if your athlete likes it before paying the fee-just talk to Jim Weingartz or Bob Kirchberg.
