Ski & Snowboard Australia Limited (SSA) Selection Policy and Criteria Discipline: Event: Level: Snowboard Parallel Slalom/Giant Slalom (Alpine) World Cup World Championships Junior World Championships Gender: Male/ Female 1. Objective To select athletes capable of producing the best possible performances at the FIS World Cup/ World Championship level. By meeting the SSA Selection Policy and Criteria for World Cup and World Championships it does not automatically qualify an athlete for support and/or consideration for selection, to an AWE Athlete Category, Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) Athlete Contract or scholarship opportunity offered via the SIS/SAS network. 2. Selection Committee 2.1 The selection committee will comprise the National Head Coach and two other members as appointed by the relevant discipline committee. Where an Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) program is in place, the National Head Coach position on the committee will be filled by the OWIA Head Program or Technical coach. 2.2 A majority decision of the selection committee is required. The decision of the selection committee shall be final. Reasons shall not be given for any selection or other decision of the selection committee unless requested by non-selected athlete(s). The selection committee may meet with non-selected athletes to explain their decision. 2.3 Unless expressly requested by the selection committee, athletes have no right to make submissions or representations to, or appear before, the selection committee. Any right or claim to natural justice in this regard is expressly excluded, such right being preserved in the appeal process available from the SSA website. 2.4 Selections made by the relevant discipline committee are subject to final approval by the SSA Board. 3. Eligibility 3.1 To be eligible for selection athletes must: 3.1.1 Be a current member of SSA; 3.1.2 Hold an SSA license to compete at the relevant level; 1 P age

3.1.3 Have met the minimum FIS points required for participation at the selected level; and, 3.1.4 Have appropriate competition insurance (as per FIS Rule 212.4) if competing internationally. 4. Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) 4.1 SSA has an MOU with the OWIA transferring certain SSA rights in respect to National Team operations and selection to the OWIA. 4.2 Where OWIA operates a sport program, SSA affords priority World Cup, World Championship and Junior World Championship selections for that event to the OWIA. 4.3 The OWIA provides SSA with its selection recommendations by the date of team entry. These selection recommendations are not limited to OWIA performance contract holders only and can include identified SIS/SAS scholarship holders ie. NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) and Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) Scholarship Athletes 4.4 If in any event where an OWIA program operates and all available quota places for selection are not filled; then the remaining spots will be available for athletes to fill according to the SSA Selection Policy and Criteria for World Cup and World Championships as published. 4.5 The selection recommendations of OWIA, NSWIS and VIS scholarship athletes are based on a predetermined set of program goals, program and individual athlete key performance indicators (KPI s) and individual athlete performance plans (IPP). 5. Selection Criteria 5.1 SSA may select athletes to the maximum number of places as allowed by FIS quota for World Cup/World Championship participation according to this criterion. 5.2 This criterion is applied to each event, with an event defined as each discipline per gender. i.e women s PGS, men s PSL 5.3 Where athletes achieve identical results, priority is given to the highest ranked athlete according to the most recent FIS Points List for PGS & PSL. 6.
