Entries: This competition is open to all skaters who are members in good standing of the U S Figure Skating. Eligibility: Skaters who are currently enrolled in either a US Figure Skating Basic Skills Program or are full US Figure Skating Members are eligible to compete. Eligibility will be based on skill level passed as of March 23, 2012 All Snowplow Sam and Basic Skills 1-8 skaters must skate at highest level passed or one level higher and NO official U.S. Figure Skating tests may have been passed including MIF or individual dances. For the Free skate 1-6, Test Track and Well Balanced levels, eligibility will be based only upon highest free skate test level passed (moves in the field test level will not determine skater s competitive level). Skaters may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher BUT not both levels in the same event during the same competition. Skaters will be broken into groups of approximately four- six (4-6) skaters, by birth date. Males and females may, or may not, be placed in the same group. This does not apply to competitors in Limited Beginner- levels. Deadline: Deadline for entries is March 23, 2012 Online entry form with secure credit card payment/e-check payment is available at http://www.colonialfsc.com. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Competition Committee and when accompanied with a $ 10.00 late fee. Facilities: The Nashoba Valley Olympia has handicap access ramps at our main entrance and inside Olympia III. The snack bar will be open throughout the competition. Olympia I, ice surface is 186 x 87 Olympia II, ice surface is 183 x 84 Olympia III, ice surface is 184 x 82 with round corners Admission: No admission fee will be charged. All events are open to spectators Music: The music for all free skating programs must be provided on CD by the skater. CD s should be clearly marked with the name of the skater, event entered and length of music. Competition music is to be turned in at the time of registration. Time duration is always ± 10 seconds. It is recommended that the skater or coach bring more than one copy of music. Awards: Awards will be presented to first, second, third, and fourth places. ALL awards will be made at appropriate times throughout the competition..

Following signs for Rt 2 continue on Rt 2 for 2.1 miles to a set of traffic lights. 100 yards after these lights bear left onto Rt 111. Continue straight through the next set of lights. Continue straight through West Acton Center and a set of lights. The Nashoba Valley Olympia is just over the Acton/Boxborough town line on the left. From Rt 495: Take exit 28 onto Rt 111. Travel east on Rt 111 past the Boxborough Holiday Inn and Conference Center for a distance of 2.6 miles. The Nashoba Valley Olympia is on the right just prior to the Acton/Boxborough town line.

BASIC ELEMENTS EVENT: SNOWPLOW SAM BASIC 8 Format: Each skater will perform each element when directed by a judge or referee or have the option to perform one element at a time in the order listed below (no excessive connecting steps). Referee driven format examples: all skaters perform first element before moving on to the next and so on OR each skater performs all of the required elements before moving on to the next skater. Test Track Program Event Skaters may enter EITHER the new test track free skate program or the well-balanced track free skate program but NOT both during the same nonqualifying competition. Competitors will skate to music of their choice, vocal music permitted. The 6.0 judging system will be used for all Test Track events. Deductions WILL be made for skaters including technical elements not permitted in the event description. 0.1 from EACH mark for each technical element included that is not permitted in the event description. 0.2 from the technical mark for each extra or lacking element. 0.1 for any spin with less than required revolutions. SHOWCASE EVENTS Showcase events are open to skaters in Basic, Free Skate, Limited Beginner through. Groups will be divided by number of entries and ages if possible. Skaters must enter at the same level as their free skate event. If a free skate event is not being entered, skaters must enter at their current test level or one level higher. Vocal music is permitted. Skaters will be judged on musical interpretation and feeling, expression, and how the skating relates to the music. Show costumes are permitted, as long as they do not touch or drag on the ice. Only hand held props are allowed. Props must remain in the skater s hand(s) at all times. 6.0 Judging will be used. Deductions will be made for skaters including technical elements not permitted in the event description.
