Facts & Figures The Tradition Professional baseball has roots in Williamsport dating back to the late 1800 s. The team plays in the 2nd oldest Minor League stadium operating in the U.S, BB&T Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field, built in 1926. Many of its most inspiring & magical moments have come within the last 23 years with a renaissance in both the dugout and the grandstand. 1994 After 2 seasons without pro ball, minor league baseball returns with the new Williamsport Cubs. 1999 The team announces a name change to the Crosscutters and a new affiliation with the Pittsburgh Pirates. 2000 Historic Bowman Field undergoes a $1.5 million renovation and is officially recognized with a state historical marker. 2001 The Cutters capture the NYPL Championship. 8 players from the squad eventually appear in MLB. 2003 Williamsport crowned NYPL Champs for the 2nd time in 3 years. 2007 The team announces their new affiliation with the Philadelphia Phillies. 2008 The Cutters debut a new logo, mascot and scoreboard. 2011 Popular former Phillie, Mickey Morandini manages the Cutters for the 2011 season. 2014 Jiandido Tromp sets a new Crosscutters record for home runs in a season. 2015 A new era of Cutters baseball begins with the purchase of the team by Cutting Edge Baseball, LLC. Led by former World Series MVP Pat Borders, the Cutters capture their first Pinckney Division crown since 2001 and first post-season appearance since 2005. The Players Over 560 players who have worn a Williamsport uniform have gone on to appear in the Major Leagues. Williamsport alumni include; Hall of Famers Jim Bunning, Bill Mazeroski, Jim Rice & Nolan Ryan and over 15 current Major Leaguers including Jose Bautista, Maikel Franco & Andrew McCutchen.
