Prep School Hobbies Please indicate which hobby you would like your child to participate in by ticking the appropriate box on the Booking Form. Costs quoted in the brochure are based on a 15:45/16:50 finish and are shown with and without ASCAPS (After School Care Advance Payment Scheme). Hobbies will commence on Monday 10 September 2018 and finish on Thursday 13 December 2018 with exceptions where stated. For termly hobbies your child will be expected to commit to the hobby for the whole term. If your child does not attend a hobby for any reason or chooses to cancel the hobby part way through the term NO refund will be given in respect of any missed sessions. Please be advised that hobbies will only run if there are sufficient numbers. Please find the Booking Form on inside front cover. Please return this Form to the School Office, or alternatively email the form (remembering to state which class/form your child is in) to hobbies@taverhamhall.co.uk no later than: Friday 29 June 2018 Bookings received after this date CANNOT secure a place for week commencing 10 September or the remainder of the term. When emailing the School Office please remember ALL places for hobbies will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Monday After School Club Y3 & Y4 After School Club offers a range of activities including supervised outdoor play and can be booked on a regular or adhoc basis during the term by contacting the School Office. Junior Warhammer Club with Mr Sayer Y3 & Y4 Warhammer is the world s leading table top game. Players battle using miniature models and practise their Maths skills by adding up dice rolls. We will focus on Warhammer 40,000 which sees different armies fight against each other for control of the galaxy. In the club, pupils will assemble, paint and play with the models. There will also be opportunities to create and paint scenery for use in the battles. Maximum number: 7 Cost: 88 per term (12 weeks) or 12 with ASCAPS Junior Crafty Afty Club with Potty Potter from The Clay Barn Pottery Y3 & Y4 Come along and experience lots of exciting crafts including decorating some fabulous pottery pieces to take home. You ll be able to enjoy an Autumn themed party at the last session before half term and a Christmas party at the end of term. Cost: 126 per term (12 weeks) or 50 with ASCAPS BP Stem Club with Mr Wilkinson and Mr Forsey Y6 to Y8 The STEM Club is open primarily to children in Year 6 to 8. We will be taking part in the BP STEM Challenge (more details can be found at https://bpes.bp.com/stem-challenge), using a range of engineering and science skills to solve a real world problem while utilising the facilities in the DT and Science Departments to build the solution. If we are successful, we will be invited to an event at the Science Museum in early spring 2019. Minimum number: 4 Maximum number: 12 Cost: 112 per term (12 weeks) or 36 with ASCAPS Pike Fishing Club with Mr Crossley, Mr Campen and Mr Edwards Y5 to Y8 This club will run until half-term only due to light restriction beyond that point. The children will learn how to fish for pike understanding techniques and habitat in particular. For the most part we will be using the School s stretch of the River Wensum in addition to Taverham Lakes. Importantly, you will need to be more than fair weather anglers given the weather will be very different to the Summer Term and therefore warm clothing and waterproofs will be essential. Fishing equipment would be desirable but not essential. Please note the later finish time of 18:30 Maximum number: 15 Cost: 9.45 per session or 3.15 per session with ASCAPS (6 weeks)

Hockey with Mr Martin Y5 to Y8 All levels welcome. Practise, learn new skills and play games. Cost: 6.30 per session or no charge with ASCAPS Senior Chess with Mr Willis Y5 to Y8 A fun two-player fun strategy board game that is played by millions of people worldwide. The objective of the game is to checkmate the opponent s king by placing it under an inescapable threat of capture. It is a game that develops good strategic thinking and forward planning skills that can help throughout life. Did you know the first chess game played between space and earth was on June 9, 1970 by the Soyez-9 crew with the game ending in a draw. Cost: 6.30 per session or no charge with ASCAPS Tuesday Hama Bead Hobby with Mrs Rust Y3 & Y4 Create designs and patterns from Hama Beads - choose your particular design or use your own imagination! Select a pegboard and choice of coloured beads and away you go! It s as simple as that. Table Tennis with Mr George Luong Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 Learn correct technique, the tactics and practise playing against opponents, George and even the ball machine. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 112 per term (12 weeks) or 36 with ASCAPS. Netball Club with Mrs Hood Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 Come and work on your netball footwork, passing and shooting skills as part of our preseason training, and prepare for Spring term 2019! Cribbage with Mr Sowry Y5 to Y8 A traditional card game invented in Norfolk in the early 17th Century, Cribbage combines maths, logic, strategy and skill. Initially, Mr Sears, a teacher from Langley Senior School and huge fan of the game, will be offering his expertise to get the game up and running. We hope to take part in competitive fixtures against other schools in the future. Come and join us on this new adventure!

Tuesday Retro Gaming with Mrs Hambidge Y5 to Y8 For an afternoon of fun there s nothing better than table top board games to stimulate your imagination. Take turns with your opponents to move counters around a board to accrue points or achieve a winning position. Some games are based on strategy, and others are decided purely by chance with the roll of a dice. Drama Production Rehearsals (CAST ONLY) with Mrs Beedell, Mrs Howe and Mr Tan Y6 to Y8 Rehearsal schedule to follow. Junior Colouring Club with Mrs Wynne Y3 & Y4 There are some amazing new designs for you to add colour to and a range of giant dot to dot puzzles and pictures to be discovered.

Thursday Junior Lego Club with Mrs Howe Y3 & Y4 Release your inner builder and use plastic bricks in a variety of colours and sizes to assemble and create models of almost anything imaginable. Did you know that If you put the 340 million Minifigures produced last year next to each other in a line, it would stretch a whopping 7,900 km that s almost the distance from London to Beijing, China! Maximum number: 15 Cheerleading with Norfolk Cheer Athletics Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 All-star cheerleading combines stunting, gymnastics, jumps and dance. It helps build self-esteem and promotes self-discipline, team work and commitment. This hobby welcomes boys and girls, places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Minimum number: 10 Maximum number: 15 Cost: 124 per term (12 weeks) or 48 with ASCAPS. Tennis with Mr Stocker Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 From novice to experienced player the tennis coaching team will help develop your child s tennis skills, serving and match play. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 124 per term (12 weeks) or 48 with ASCAPS. Football with Community Sports Foundation Y3 & Y4 and Y5 to Y8 For football enthusiasts, this hobby aims to develop football skills and game play in a range of competitive and skills-based sessions. Run by external, qualified coaches. Minimum number: 12 Maximum number: 18 Cost: 124 per term (12 weeks) or 48 with ASCAPS. Rock Band Hobby with Mr Hamilton Y5 to Y8 Rock Band Hobby is for competent musicians willing to learn a piece of music in their own time. Numbers may be limited and priority will be given to those who learn an instrument at school. Maximum number: 5

Thursday Senior Art with Mr Edwards Y5 to Y8 An opportunity to develop independent art projects or create portfolio work for post Year 8. Maximum number: 12 Cost: 6.30 per session or no charge with ASCAPS Senior Golf with Mr Hoare Y7&8 ONLY Maximum number: 13 Instruction with a Golf Professional at Wensum Valley Golf Driving Range. All equipment will be provided and no previous experience is necessary.
