Principal s Report Welcome back to term 3. I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are back rested and ready for another exciting term of learning. We have the States School Extravaganza coming up very quickly, please find the relevant information within this newsletter. Jump Rope for Heart It was a great way to end the semester with a fun morning of activities skipping and learning about the importance of Heart Health. Well done to those students and families that raised money for research into Heart Disease, we thank you. In addition, a big thank you to Miss Sim and Miss Martin for organising the events, it was great. State Cross Country Congratulations to Olivia Martinez who competed in the State Cross Country yesterday in Melbourne. We are extremely proud of her coming 25th out of 95 students from right across Victoria. Well done. We are looking forward to the commencement of the 2018 Come and Try program which begins Thursday 2 nd August from 2-3.15pm for 5 weeks. We look forward to getting to know many of our 2019 Prep students before they commence school next year. Photos Reminder that School Photos are next Monday 23rd July. The day will start with family photos and then move into grades. Please ensure if you have not already brought back your Photo Envelope, it needs to be in Monday morning. 100 days of School On Wednesday 25th our Prep Students celebrate their 100th day of School. They are having a class party at 10.30am and we welcome their Parents and Grandparents to help celebrate and invite them to bring a plate to share savoury/sweet. Curriculum Day A reminder to all families that our School will be Closed on Friday 10th August as our teachers are attending a Network Professional Day in Swan Hill and all local schools are closed on this day. Head Lice The start of Term is another good time to remind ALL parents to check their child s hair for Head Lice. JUMP ROPE Our Jump Rope for Heart held on Friday 29th June was a huge success. $1885.25 was raised over all which was fantastic. Our online winner was Tom raising $256 and Noah raised $110 on paper. With our Guess the Hearts in a jar our winner was Xanthe who guessed 105 and was the closest with there being 108 in the jar. EXTRAVAGANZA The Extravaganza is being held on Tuesday 31st July (not long to go) at the Swan Hill Town Hall. We are performing Rock through the Ages type songs. We will be having our dress on Tuesday 31st July Ourrehearsal School Captains Emilie & Ethan at the Town Hall and will need all students to have their costumes brought to school before this date. Costumes will be sent home with children that afternoon for them to come dressed in at the Town Hall that night. Hair on the night will be either lots of gel and spiked or we would love to see crimped hair (so lots of braids) that could be taken out on the Tuesday night. We will buy some ribbons to put in hair. We will require all students to wear base makeup (foundation) for the Extravaganza, as this takes the shine off their faces under the bright lights. We will leave it up to parents to apply lipstick and eye shadow if you wish for your child to wear this. We will be travelling in to town by bus for our Dress Rehearsal on Tuesday 31st July. We will require you to drop your child/ren off on the night of the performance though to the front of Target (Beveridge Street) by 6:40pm where teachers will be waiting. All students will need to be dressed ready in their Extravaganza clothes as we will not have anywhere to get changed. Tickets are on sale at the Swan Hill Regional Information Centre, corner McCrae and Curlewis Streets at $6 for adults and $3 for children. (Performing students do not require a ticket). Tickets are also available online at www.swanhilltownhall.com where you go to Buy Tickets and click on Extravaganza. Our school is running the canteen on the night. Please find at the end of today s Newsletter a roster of helpers. There are still another couple of spots that need to be filled. Every student is required to pay $10 for the cost of the bus for rehearsals and other costs that we will have.

We versed Swan Hill North on Wednesday night. Vetaya into goals and our team into attack. Josh led the way with Dom and Sharni following up with great pressure. Thomas Mr Ever Reliable in defence. Vetaya with a brilliant bouncing throw through their attack to Josh. Fantastic teamwork on display everyone working very hard. Josh with some spectacular efforts intercepting, heading and kicking the ball with much force! Marshal scored after many loose cannon shots fired off randomly! Quickly scored again very shortly after. Dom with some terrific defensive play intercepting and passing through to his team mates. Josh with a spectacular volley into the goal after running in to meet the sideline kick in from Marshal. Second half with Vetaya in the goals for the start. Josh helped out the opposition to give them a score on the board. Sharni was showing how much her confidence has grown into the play and tackling hard. Vetaya made a super save. Josh and Marshal another great teaming to score again. Marshal with the corner kick over the top with Josh positioned well to push it over the line and into the net. Marshal smashed another one into the net and scored another shortly after. Dom into goals and read the ball really well and cleared it out. Sharni and Thomas applying pressure passed through to Marshal and scored the 7th goal of the game. Final score 7-4. Dom was this weeks winner of the Woorinen Store Award. SCHOOL PHOTOS School Photos will be taken NEXT Monday 23rd July. All students need to bring back their photo envelope (online orders will have a receipt number which needs to be on each child s envelope) If you are wishing to order family photo s these will be taken first. No change will be given on the day, therefore it is vital that parents hand in envelopes that have the correct money enclosed. Each child needs his/her own envelope if ordering. Credit Card orders are strictly online. FLYING BOOKWORM The Prep students will be attending the Flying Bookworm performance on Wednesday August 1st, joining with the Preschool. This will be held at school in the Learning Centre. A note will be sent home with Prep Students with the cost as soon as we are notified. SCHOOL COUNCIL The next School Council meeting is on Tuesday 24th July at 7:30pm. CONGRATULATIONS A big congratulations to Olivia for coming 25th at the State Cross Country in Melbourne yesterday. What a fantastic effort. We are all very proud of your achievement.

Extravaganza Canteen Roster As you will all be aware the State Schools Extravaganza is on the 31 st July 2018. Our school is running the canteen as a Parent s Club fundraiser. We are chasing volunteers to help out. If you are not confident with money that is not a problem as you can be grabbing purchases while someone else takes the money. Our aim is to work as a team to ensure the canteen runs smoothly. Please note the canteen will only be open before the Extravaganza and during interval times. We have made sure our school will not be preforming at the beginning of the night or before and after intervals so that our parent volunteers do not miss out on seeing their kids perform.
