WIHS Adult & Children s Championship & WIHS Equitation and Pony Equitation Thank you for your support of the WIHS Championships and Equitation. Enclosed is an application and current specifications. Also, enclosed is a camera-ready copy of the WIHS Championships and Equitation membership application. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE THE CURRENT MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION IN YOUR PRIZE LISTS AND PROGRAMS. Current membership fee for exhibitors is $40. Please make sure to use the correct membership applications. Payment for WIHS Equitation (3 6 ) will be $5 per rider per phase for a two phase show. One phase shows will remain at the $7 per rider. Hunter and Jumper will remain at the $5 per rider as well. Any class (overall results) with 50 or more entries at the start of the first phase must be divided as under USEF HU112.5 ( California Split ). When sending results for equitation classes, please include class sheet and results from each phase and the overall. Riders must complete both phases to receive an overall placing. Please see USEF EQ110.10 for complete specs for WIHS Equitation. Please take a moment to fill out an application for each of your shows. Remember applications MUST be received in this office at least thirty (30) days prior to the requested show. It is to your benefit to apply for all shows early and notify us of any changes or cancellations. You will be listed on the upcoming list as soon as your application is received and processed.

RIDER MEMBERSHIP WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW CHILDREN S AND ADULT CHAMPIONSHIPS Rules and Regulations Annual membership is $40. Membership entitles riders to earn points in the rankings on one or more horses. Membership (application & fee) must be received at the WIHS Membership Office within 10 days of the completion of an event for points from that event to count. Riders may join at a show; however, riders are strongly encouraged to mail the application themselves. Riders may contact Ryegate Show Services, 1298 Royal Road, Annville, PA 17003; 717-867-5643, wihs@ryegate.com to obtain an application or download an application from the website, www.wihs.org. Riders need not be members of the WIHS Championships to compete in any qualifying classes, but only current members will accrue points towards year-end finals. QUALIFYING PERIOD Classes held at shows starting on or after September 1 st through shows starting on or before August 31 st. WIHS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS The Finals will be held at the Verizon Center during the Washington International Horse Show. Approximately 30 horse/rider combinations in each of the following four sections will qualify for the championships: $10,000 WIHS Children s Hunter Championship $10,000 WIHS Adult Hunter Championship $10,000 WIHS Children s Jumper Championship $10,000 WIHS Adult Jumper Championship FINALS ENTRY INFORMATION Horse/rider combinations will qualify based on points accrued during the qualifying period in WIHS sanctioned classes or classics. Horse/rider combinations wishing to compete in the WIHS Championship Finals at the Verizon Center must enter on the Washington International Horse Show entry blank. Entries must be postmarked by the closing date of entries. CALCULATION OF POINTS - Points will be accrued by horse/rider combinations (must be current members) as follows: WIHS CHILDREN S AND ADULT HUNTER - only one option may be offered at each show Points will be awarded based on the type of event held. Option A (a designated class within a section): 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½ multiplied by the number of competitors in the class. Results submitted for that class must be the same as those used in determining the section championship. Option B (a classic where the first round was a designated class in the section): 20, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2 multiplied by the number of competitors that entered the classic. Option C (separate 2 round classic): 30, 22, 16, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 2, 2 multiplied by the number of competitors in the first round. WIHS CHILDREN S AND ADULT JUMPER Points in $1000 and higher Classics at 2* and above Shows will be awarded 25, 15, 13, 12, 10, 9, 8, 8 multiplied by the number of competitors participating in the first round. If more than 8 places receive prize money, eighth place points will also be awarded for those exhibitors. Points for $500 - $999 Classics held at 1* Shows will be awarded 15, 9, 6, 3, 2, 1, multiplied by the number of riders participating in the first round. If more than 6 places receive prize money, sixth place points will also be awarded for those exhibitors. WIHS Children s & Adult Championship Rules - Page 1 of 3 5/11/17

HORSE SHOW INFORMATION Open to all USEF and Equine Canada Member shows that apply to the WIHS at least 30 days prior to the start of their show, on the official form. Results must be postmarked within 10 days of the completion of the show, along with payment of $5.00 for every rider who competed in each class. Shows that fail to file results in a timely manner will not be awarded future dates. PRIZE LIST REQUIREMENTS: Shows must include a WIHS membership page in their prize list. Camera Ready copy is sent to all shows. Additional sizes may be obtained by contacting Ryegate Show Services. PRIZE MONEY: Minimum prize money as required in specs must be awarded as published in prize list. Each division has specific requirements for combining classes. NOMINATING FEE: If charged, must comply with current USEF rules. COMBINING OF CLASSES: Hunter: If there are fewer than 8 entries in either the Adult or Children s Hunter Classics one hour prior to the start of the first of these classes they must be combined. Exemption will be given for those shows that have classics on different days. For year-end points, the WIHS office will place each section separately with points awarded as if separate classes were held. The show must include original class sheets for split classes with results so that year-end points may be awarded in the correct section. Jumper: 2* and above shows may offer a combined class in their prize list offering a minimum of $1500 in prize money. 1* Shows may offer a combined class in their prize list offering a minimum of $500 in prize money.. Shows offering separate classes may combine if there are less than 20 entries in either the Children s or Adult Jumper Classics or a combined total of less than 30. Prize Money and Entry fee for a classic combined at the show may be the lower of the two as listed in the prize list. For year-end points, the WIHS office will place each section separately with points awarded as if separate classes were held. Show must include original class sheets for split classes with results so that year-end points may be awarded in the correct section. CLASS SPECIFICATIONS WIHS CHILDREN S AND / OR ADULT AMATEUR HUNTER only one option may be offered per show Prize money is Optional in all hunter events. Option A Open to any USEF or Equine Canada recognized show. Any class in the section may be designated a WIHS Championship Series Qualifying Class. Results submitted for that class must be the same as those used in determining the section championship. Minimum of 6 ribbons must be offered. Prize List must state: Qualifying class for the WIHS Children s and Adult Championship Series Option B Open to USEF or Equine Canada recognized shows held over multiple days. Any class within the section may be designated as the first round of the classic. Judge(s) will give each horse a numerical score. The 12 highest scoring horses from the first round will return for a separate second round. Minimum of 8 ribbons must be offered. Proper Attire required. Option C Open to USEF or Equine Canada recognized shows held over multiple days. Management may offer a separate two round classic. Judge(s) will give each horse a numerical score. The top 12 from the first round will return for the second round. Minimum of 12 ribbons must be offered. Proper Attire required. Horses must have completed the course in at least two classes in the same section in accordance with USEF HU136.1. WIHS Children s Hunter: Open to Junior riders. A rider need not be a member of the WIHS Championship Series to compete, but only current members will accrue points toward the year-end championships. Class specifications as stated in current Zone specifications. Prize money is optional. WIHS Adult Amateur Hunter: Open to Adult Amateur riders. WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW ~ EQUITATION ~ Rules and General Information for Managers/Contacts ATTENTION SHOW MANAGERS AND SECRETARIES: PLEASE PROVIDE COPIES OF THESE RULES TO ALL ANNOUNCERS, JUDGES AND COURSE DESIGNERS INVOLVED IN ANY PHASE OF THE WIHS EQUITATION QUALIFIER CLASSES. The WIHS Equitation and WIHS Pony Equitation are open to USEF and Equine Canada member shows that request an application to hold an equitation qualifier class. Shows must apply 30 days prior to the start of the show in order to offer the equitation class(es). Upon receipt of the application, the show contact will be mailed all pertinent forms. Completed results forms and payment (One phase: $7.00 fee per rider; Two phase: $5 per rider per phase) must be returned to the Ryegate office within 10 days from the conclusion of the show.
