The Kinloch Club is inspired by Scotland s two most enduring gifts to the world. Golf played on traditional links of naturally rugged land set on the edge of water and the romance of sprawling baronial castles. Our Jack Nicklaus Signature 18-hole links course has already been voted New Zealand s No.1 best of any kind. And The Lodge at Kinloch, by architect, Andrew Patterson and interior designer, Virginia Fisher, is a truly modern interpretation of turreted Kinloch Castle on the Isle of Rum, off Scotland s West coast. Set in tranquil 254ha grounds with three kilometres of lakeside beach on the shores of Lake Taupo, the scenic hub of New Zealand s North Island, The Kinloch Club recreates the finest traditions of Scotland s golf links and heritage castles, with the addition of cutting edge hospitality, outstanding cuisine and superb villa accommodation. THE LODGE Welcome to a 21st century castle, on a commanding hilltop overlooking sparkling Lake Taupo, the focal centre of The Kinloch Club for both golfers and leisure seekers.
Our baronial Great Room contrasts with the modern serenity of the dining room, which matches its Estate-to-Plate organic philosophy with a carefully curated wine list featuring the very best international and New Zealand wines. The adjacent bar is both bold and masculine, with scorched wood flooring and leathers. The den, by contrast is soft and warm, featuring silvers, golds and slate floors tempered with luscious New Zealand-designed wool rugs. Lodge Bar Lodge Great Room

DINING Our cuisine is based on the inspired Estate-to-Plate philosophy of The Kinloch Club s visionary creator John Sax. Wherever possible, every dish is based on or includes organic and estate reared produce from Treetops Lodge & Estate, our sister lodge, set in 2000 hectares of native wilderness in nearby Rotorua. Here, the finest game birds and animals are raised in a natural environment. Specially selected heritage varieties of vegetables and fruit are tended organically. Local experts collect fascinating native herbs and flavourings from the pristine wilderness. An extensive wine cellar, with professional sommelier advice, will help create memorable matches of exceptional New Zealand and international wines. Lodge Dining

Tom Long, Director of Golf Our Jack Nicklaus Signature golf links provide unique challenges based on the original Scottishstyle golfing on natural rugged terrain close to water. Experienced golfers consider every hole at this 18-hole, 72-par course something memorable, where a certain depth of mystery defies players to find their best shots. Rugged bunkers are strewn across the course and the fairways are contoured and conditioned for ground play. The Kinloch Club also possesses New Zealand s finest drainage, making the links eminently playable in all seasons and weather conditions. GOLF
RECREATION Lake Taupo is ideal for all the family, from water sports, trout fishing to thrilling jet boat or float plane rides to beautiful Huka Falls or Aratiatia Rapids featured in The Hobbit movies. Choose to water ski in summer or enjoy winter snow in Tongariro Park. Walk the world-famed Tongariro Crossing. Discover hiking and mountain bike trails, helicopter to dramatic live volcano of White Island or visit the geysers and bubbling mud of Rotorua. As well as an infinity pool, gym and tennis courts, a luxurious spa offers organic prescriptive wellness treatments or therapeutic treatments for sportsmen and guests.
JACK NICKLAUS Jack Nicklaus, arguably golf s greatest ever strategist has created a masterpiece. Every facet of Kinloch s design was thought through meticulously. Upon completion of the course Jack was asked to name its signature hole. He replied there isn t one, there are 18 signature holes here. SIR BOB CHARLES Having just played Kinloch for the first time I can honestly say this is the number one golf course in New Zealand. For those unable to play the great links courses of Scotland, Kinloch compares with the best of them. A true links experience, with Jack Nicklaus at his best. 14th green
