Ohio Nomads Volume 8 Issue 2 SCOPE OHIO May 10, 2008 A Chapter of Family Motor Coach Association INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Our Next Event Troy 1 A word from our President 2 G.L.A.S.S Rally 2 Treasurer s Report 3 Directions to Troy 4 Event Schedule 4 Amish Country Rally 5 Dir. to Amish Country 5 Secretary s Report 6 Birthdays, Anniversaries 7 Strawberry Festival Sign Up THIS NEWSLETTER CONTAINS INFORMATION FOR THE NEXT 3 RALLIES GLASS May 22-25 Troy June 5-8 Amish country June 23-29 8 S TRAWBERRY FESTIVAL RALLY J UNE 5-8 TROY OHIO Waco Field : 1865 S. County Rd 25A Troy Ohio The Festival began 32 years ago with one vision, to make it possible for churches, PTOs, and other non-profit organizations of Miami County to raise funds in 2 days so they can devote the remainder of their time and resources to children, seniors, students, and others in need of their help. To this day, it has remained true to that vision. The 2008 Troy Strawberry Festival theme is Let's Talk Berries. The Festival will introduce three new events this year - Back Seat Driver; Strawberry Talent Show and Strawberry Grandparent & Me. From Strawberry donuts to strawberry burritos, the Troy Strawberry Festival entices visitors with their most popular, locally grown fruit. Savor each and every wonderful bite of delicious strawberry treat while exploring over 250 arts and crafts booths, enjoy the soulful sounds of live music on four outdoor stages, or compete in a variety of skilled games or events throughout the weekend. This free event is not for the feign of heart..bring your family, friends and appetites to one of Ohio s premier festivals located in historic downtown Troy along the Great Miami River levee. The Nomads will be camping at Historic Waco Field again this year. June 5,6,7 and 8. We will have our own space along the grass runway. Although this is dry camping the setting along the runway allows us plenty of camping space to get together and enjoy the events. The Waco museum is just steps away from our site and a shuttle bus is available to take us to the festival and back. Last year several old planes flew onto the field for the event and it was fun to watch. We will have a catered dinner Saturday night. http://www.troyohiostrawberryfestival.com/a55969/tsf.nsf/letter_daffner!openpage http://www.wacoairmuseum.org/index.htm Map of Troy page 4

Page 2 A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT Volume 8 Issue 2 CHAPTER OFFICERS It s going to be a busy spring for the Nomads this year. We have an opportunity to attend 3 events within 2 weeks of each other. We will be starting with the G.L.A.S.S. rally over Memorial Day. We will once again be hosting the Friday night dinner. This is a great opportunity to make money for our treasury. The rally will have lots of entertainment as well as seminars, crafts and exhibitors. If you want to be parked together during the rally we will once again be leaving the truck stop at US 12 and US 31 after breakfast on Thursday. Our next rally will be at Waco Field for the Strawberry Festival in Troy Ohio. This has been a perennial favorite. Following that in early June there will be the week long campout at Scenic Hills RV Park in Amish country. This campout runs the entire week. The motto is come when you can and leave when you must. You can spend as much time as you would like to see the sites and visit the area. Remember you must make your reservations directly with the campground by May 23. They will require a $25.00 deposit. Our schedule is filled this year and we will have a Nomads rally every month through October this year. This summer and fall we will venture to new areas of the state including Castalia, Auglaize County and Van Wert. I would really like to find some new venues for camping next year. It would be nice to find new areas of the state we have not been to, or haven't visited in a long while. The rally sign up sheet will be posted at all upcoming rallies so please, if you know an interesting location or area of interest, sign up and host a rally.
