Ottawa East Schooling Shows 2005. db Farms Summer Classic OESS is a group of eight schooling shows held in Ottawa s east end combining three disciplines. Come and compete for great prizes and year-end awards while having fun with your horse in a relaxed atmosphere. These shows encourage strong riding skills in dressage, hunter and jumper classes for students and school horses yet still offer a challenge for the more seasoned competitor. Jumper Ring: Jumper Classes order of go will be listed on the website on or after Thursday, August 11, 2005. Warm-up o/f will be held from 7:00am to 8:30am. Hunter ring will start at 9:00 am sharp! CLASS ELIGIBILITY Newcomer: A competitor in their first season of showing in that specific discipline OR for those who have never entered more than 12 horse shows of any kind. Newcomers may not enter Novice or Open classes. Novice: A competitor in their second season of showing in that specific discipline OR for those who have entered more than 12 horse shows but have not won 3 or more first place ribbons at this level prior to this calendar year. Novice riders may also enter Open classes. Open: All competitors other than Newcomer may enter in the open division. This includes any coaches or other professionals. OESS DRESSAGE CLASSES Class 1 OESS Pick-A-Test - any test which can be ridden in a 20x60 ring EXCEPT for Equine-Canada tests. This class is open to all. Newcomer Riders must choose a walk/trot test so as to not forfeit Newcomer eligibility. This class is a non-divisional class, so cannot be counted towards division year-end awards, but will count for this Show s and the OESS Year-End Versatility Award. SCRATCH FEE: Should a cancellation be necessary, no refunds will be given unless the request for same has been given prior to 9:00pm the day preceding show date, and then the entries paid, less a $25 scratch fee, shall be refunded. There are no refunds for "no shows". PRIZES CLASS RIBBONS will be given to fifth place for all classes except the Mini Prix which will be pinned to 12 th. A VERSATILITY AWARD will be given to the top-placed rider who enters all three disciplines. Division Championship Prizes. Top Horse of the Day. Stable of the Day. Dressage High Score Junior and Senior. Point system used to determine Division/Discipline/Versatility awards will be: 1 st place= 6 points, 2 nd place= 4 pnts; 3 rd place= 3 pnts; 4 th place=2 pnts; 5 th place= 1 point. All fees should be paid before the show date. In case a competitor fails to pay the show fees or the scratch fee (see above for details on scratch fee), the competitor will not be accepted for further competition at any OESS show nor will be eligible for year-end awards until all accounts are cleared. In case of weather causing unsafe riding conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, necessitating the cancellation of the show, all fees will be refunded to the competitor upon request. OESS RULES Each OESS Show Organizer agrees to follow the rules of Equine Canada regarding horse show regulations, wherever possible, keeping in mind that the OESS shows are not sanctioned nor permit shows and some modifications must be made to allow for the inexperience of some competitors. A copy of a current year negative Coggins Test for each horse must accompany entries. Every person mounted on a horse must wear an ASTM approved riding helmet properly fastened at all times they are mounted on a horse, as well as proper riding footwear. Riders must wear their numbers at all times while riding. Only "legal" bits will be allowed. Brushing boots and polo wraps are permitted in hunter and jumper classes. Martingales in flat classes will not be permitted. If a horse is observed to be lame, sick, unsound or in distress, the judge or the show organizer will excuse the horse from further classes. Acceptance of Risk: Neither the OESS, its volunteers, show organizers, helpers, staff members, or their families shall in any way be held responsible for any accident, injury, death, damage or loss of property of any competitor or visitor to show sites and an Acceptance of Risk form must be signed by each competitor and horse owner. It is strongly suggested that each competitor carry a minimum of $2 million liability insurance in the event that they or their horse causes damage, injury, death, or loss of property to another party. db FARMS SUMMER CLASSIC SHOW INFORMATION STABLING: The cost is $30 per stall, per day. Limited Stalls available. Only leashed dogs allowed on premises Hors Concours entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Show Committee. Please call ahead. A limit will be placed on the number of entries accepted. If you have entered late, please verify with the website to ensure your entry has been accepted. Classes may be canceled if they have insufficient entries. OESS YEAR-END BANQUET & AWARDS The Ottawa East Show Series (OESS) will be awarding year-end awards at the annual banquet. Points can be earned in all OESS-named classes at all eight shows. Year-end awards will be determined with high-point scores for riders competing at a minimum of five (5) shows in the core divisions as well as a High Point Versatility Award for the rider with the most points earned in all 3 disciplines. The time and place of the year-end banquet will be announced in December. Notice will also be given to each of the participating barns.
