ACU Athletics created this motto in the Winter of 2015 (#ACUE4C). RAZOR S EDGE: ACU and Arkansas meet for the first time on Nov. 29, 2017... The Wildcats are 3-5 all-time against teams currently part of the SEC... ACU faced two SEC teams during the 2016-17 season, falling to Missouri, 52-46, during a firstround game at the Preseason WNIT, and later at Texas A&M, 71-45... The Aggies victory tied their all-time series vs. ACU at 3-3... The Wildcats also once played Ole Miss during the 1984-85 season (L, 37-81). MUSTANG STAMPEDE: SMU handed ACU its first loss of the 2017-18 season on Nov. 21, beating the Wildcats, 65-44, in Dallas... The Mustangs had three starters reach double figures in scoring, forced 20 turnovers, and outscored the Wildcats, 26-16, in the paint... ACU s lone offensive highlight was the play of reserve freshman guard Kayla Galindo, who scored 14 points in 22 minutes off the bench, hitting 5-of-6 field goal attempts (4-5 3-point range)... ACU s bench has outscored its colleagues in all four games this season, 118-66, or 29.5 points to 16.5 points per game. MASHED POTATOES: ACU improved to 2-0 all-time vs. Idaho and got off to only its second 3-0 start under head coach Julie Goodenough following its 82-72 comeback win against the Vandals on Nov. 18... The Wildcats haven t finished first in the conference standings in consecutive years since 1998 and 1999 when they were members of the Lone Star Conference... ACU is 33-3 (.917) against the Southland over the past two years and is 50-18 (.735) since joining the league four seasons ago... Only SFA (55) and Central Arkansas (54) have won more Southland games than the Wildcats over the past four years... SFA was the Southland s last back-to-back champion, winning in 2014 and 2015. HEART OF THE MATTER: Head coach Julie Goodenough received the Kay Yow Heart of a Coach Award at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast during the Women s Basketball Coaches Association convention... The award is presented annually by FCA to honor a basketball coach who has exemplified biblical principles over the course of his or her career... Goodenough was nominated by her longtime assistant coach Erika Lambert., and supported with letters of commendation from Texas Woman s head basketball coach Beth Jillson, former Wildcat Whitney Swinford, and Jimmie Keeling, who was the head football coach at Hardin-Simmons where Goodenough landed her first collegiate head coaching job prior to the 1993-94 season... Goodenough and her family are active members at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church... She also is greatly supportive of the Big Country FCA, and has helped develop a meaningful partnership with Disability Resources, Incorporated a Christcentered ministry that provides a home for mentally and physically disabled adults. GOODS ON GOODENOUGH: Head coach Julie Goodenough (108-44,.711) passed Wayne Williams (96-70,.578) for fourth place on ACU s all-time victory list Feb. 4 following the Wildcats 78-56 win vs. Sam Houston State... She won her 100th game with the Wildcats Feb. 18 at Northwestern State and needs to win nine more games to tie Suzanne Fox for third place... She also is three wins away from 400... Fox won 117 games in five seasons with the Wildcats between 1992-97... Burl McCoy remains the program leader with 299 wins accumulated during a 16-year career that lasted between 1976-92... Shawna Lavender (2003-12) is second with 149 victories... ACU is 86-37 (.699) in six seasons as a Division I program under Goodenough s leadership... Her first ACU team shared the Lone Star Conference regular-season title with Midwestern State at 16-4 and finished with an overall mark of 21-7 the program s first 20-win season since 2004-05... Since then she has led the Wildcats to two additional 20-win seasons in 2015-16 (26-4) and 2016-17 (23-9)... Only McCoy (9) and Fox (4) have recorded more 20-win seasons than Goodenough... During the course of her fourth year at ACU, she coached her 600th game at the collegiate level on Nov. 23, 2015 vs. Southwest and her 100th game with the Wildcats on Jan. 7, 2016 vs. Northwestern State... Shortly after leading the Wildcats to their second Southland Conference Championship, Julie Goodenough agreed to a contract extension that will keep her at ACU through at least the 2021-22 season. MINUTE MAID: Sophomore Breanna Wright logged four complete games last season (vs. Missouri, Omaha, New Orleans, Oklahoma State), which were more than all but one of her teammates (Suzzy Dimba)... Wright played all 40 minutes Nov. 11 vs. Missouri to become the first Wildcat to register a complete game on Opening Night since Alex Guiton vs. Incarnate Word on Nov. 16. 2007... Wright was one of 17 players nationwide to play 40 minutes in the first game of the 2016-17 season... Suzzy Dimba played the eighth and final 40-minute match of her career Feb. 22, 2017 against Corpus Christi. SIERRA MADRE: Junior forward Sierra Allen provided the Wildcats a hot hand off the bench after scoring 15 points in 19 minutes during a Dec. 2016 game vs. Murray State... Allen entered the 2016-17 season with only four games in double figures but last winter she totaled 15 vs. Harding and Murray State, 12 points vs. Howard Payne, Omaha and Texas A&M, 11 vs. UMKC and 10 vs. UTSA... Allen s 164 points through 31 games last season were a career-season high. FREE WILLI: Junior Sara Williamson recorded her first complete game Dec. 3, 2016 vs. UMKC, playing all 45 minutes of an overtime loss to the Kangaroos... Head Coach Julie Goodenough Five Years at Abilene Christian School Record: 108-45 (.706) Career Record: 397-265 (.600) Hometown: Haskell, Texas Family: Husband, Rob, and daughters, Bailey and Macy Degrees: Associate of Arts in Science from West Texas College Bachelor of Arts in exercise and sports studies from Texas-Arlington Masters of Education in sports administration from Texas Tech A veteran head coach with more than 20 years experience at all three NCAA levels, Julie Goodenough recently completed a successful fifth season leading the Abilene Christian women s basketball program to its second straight Southland Conference regular-season championship and accompanying postseason berth to the WNIT. The 2016-17 Wildcats posted a 23-9 record and tied Central Arkansas for the league s best mark at 16-2. ACU also finished 108th (out of 349) in the NCAA RPI and received four points in the final CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll. The team once again was led by its Class of 2017, composed of twin sisters Lizzy and Suzzy Dimba, Alexis Mason and Sydney Shelstead. This quartet pushed the team toward the top of the Southland and national rankings in rebounding and 3-point shooting as the Wildcats placed 12th nationally with 8.6 treys made per game and 47th in rebounding offense. ACU also posted the NCAA s 13th best rebounding margin (+8.3) and ranked 49th with 15.4 assists per game. The Dimbas and Mason were honored with all-conference citations with Suzzy receiving her fourth-straight nod to the Southland s alldefensive team. Suzzy ranked among the league s top-15 leaders in seven categories and tied for first with 1.5 blocks per game. Mason, meanwhile, finished third nationally with 3.4 3-point field goals made per game (93 in 27 games) despite missing five games due to injury. At season s end, the seniors were honored once more with the school s Horizon Award and Suzzy Dimba was voted MVP by the ACU athletic staff. Goodenough too was honored for her contributions to the sport and community with the Kay Yow Heart of a Coach Award. Goodenough s record at ACU is 108-45 (.706) and following the Wildcats 78-56 win over Sam Houston State on Feb. 4, 2017 she passed Wayne Williams for fourth place on the school s all-time win list. She won her 300th game as a collegiate head coach on Jan. 15, 2013, and four years later she won her 100th game as a Wildcat at Northwestern State on Feb. 28 2017. Leaving The Lone Star A native of Haskell, Texas, Goodenough became the program s sixth head coach on March 27, 2012 and immediately transformed a program hindered by consecutive losing seasons into Lone Star Conference champions. With many of the same players coming back from a meager 12-14 campaign, Goodenough maximized her roster s talents and the Wildcats went on to share the regular-season title with Midwestern State at 16-4. ACU was picked to finish seventh, but rejected the naysayers with an overall mark of 21-7, which was the program s first 20-win season since 2004-05. The Wildcats also accepted their 12th bid to the NCAA DII South Central Region Tournament, which was their first appearance since 2008-09. The turnaround earned Goodenough co-coach of the Year honors from the Lone Star Conference, making her the sixth Wildcat coach Burl McCoy (1982-83, 1984-85 and 1985-86), Suzanne Fox (1995-96), Wayne Williams (1997-98), and Shawna Lavender (2007-08) to earn this title. Three players made all-conference and point guard Whitney (West) Swinford was voted the league s Freshman of the Year. Threeseasons later she became the first Wildcat student-athlete across all sports to win both a Lone Star and Southland Conference team championship. The Wildcats ranked 12th nationally in scoring offense (74.8 ppg) during their final DII season, and averaged the seventh-most 3-point field goals per game with 8.4. ACU also possessed one of the best defenses as evidenced by its 16th-ranked scoring margin (12.7) and 23rd-ranked field goal percentage defense (.353). Opponents struggled year-round from beyond the arc, as the Wildcats boasted the third best 3-point field goal defense (.249). Even as the program moved through its DI transition, ACU s style of play remained the same with a focus on rebounding and 3-point shooting. Transition Game ACU went 84-37 (.694) in its four seasons as a transitional NCAA DI program, winning two Southland Conference Championships and qualifying for two WNITs. Fifty of those 84 wins were against the league, and included in the remaining 34 victories were triumphs against Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, UT Arlington and UTSA, plus tournament wins in Kansas City and Colorado Springs. The Wildcats also won two of three Preseason WNIT games. Not bad for a program not promised a postseason. Team first wins, indeed. During ACU s introductory DI season of 2013-14, the Wildcats regularly eclipsed their own single-game three-point records. Overall, they connected on 291 of 873 long-range attempts (.333) and on Feb. 18, 2014 the Wildcats hit a record 18 treys on 50 attempts. The Wildcats went on to win eight conference games to place seventh out of 14 teams, and both Suzzy Dimba and Marquez made the league s list of honorable mentions. Dimba also was the only league freshman voted onto the all-defensive team. Marquez flourished with Goodenough as her coach for two seasons, and as a senior she ranked among the Southland s 2017-18 Women s Basketball Notebook #GoWildcats #ACUE4C 15

top-20 leaders in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. Marquez made Second Team All-Lone Star Conference during Goodenough s first year at ACU and finished her decorated career with 1,285 career points, 598 rebounds and 298 assists. An 8-4 finish to the 2014-15 Southland season following a 1-5 start was a harbinger of things to come. The Class of 17 represented 4/5ths of the starting lineup with senior West Swinford there to guide her junior teammates into a transformative 2015-16 season. Those Wildcats won 26 of 30 games and held off Central Arkansas by one game to win the Southland Championship at 17-1 a school record for conference wins. They then earned the program s first-ever DI postseason berth into the WNIT where it lost 66-62 at UTEP in the first round. After leading ACU to its fourth-consecutive winning season in as many years, Goodenough was named 2016 Southland Conference Coach of the Year and helped junior guard Alexis Mason win the school s first conference Player of the Year trophy since 2001. Goodenough later received Coach of the Year honors from The Rotary Club of Abilene and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Mason averaged a league best 17.5 points per game through her 30 starts and shot an impressive 42.8 percent from the floor while knocking down 35.7 percent of her 3-pointers (89-249). Additional accolades went to Suzzy Dimba, who received Second Team All- Conference honors as well as her third consecutive All-Defensive Team citation, while junior Sydney Shelstead made Third Team All-Conference for the second straight season. ACU s starters all averaged 10.0 or more points per game with three players ranked among the top-10 conference leaders in rebounding: Lizzy Dimba (7.8), Sydney Shelstead (7.4) and Suzzy Dimba (7.7). Mason led the team in scoring followed by Shelstead (14.1), Suzzy Dimba (11.8), Whitney West Swinford (11.0), and Lizzy Dimba (10.1). Each Wildcat starter averaged 10.0 points per game or better in 2014-15, while four starters with the exception of Lizzy Dimba (9.8 ppg) in 2013-14 averaged 11.0 or more points per game. This trend continued into 2016-17 with Mason again leading the Wildcats with a 16.3 scoring average. Suzzy and Lizzy averaged 13.1 and 12.1 points per game, and Shelstead contributed 11.6. Big Country Legend The 2015-16 was Goodenough s finest season since leading Hardin-Simmons to a 26-2 record and the NCAA DIII Sweet 16 in 2001-02. Her highest season win total of 27 came during the 1999-00 campaign after leading the Cowgirls to the Elite 8. Goodenough was a 2007 inductee into the HSU Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of her nine-year 188-54 record, leaving as the winningest coach in school history. Her last four teams advanced to at least the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 and also coached her team to the NAIA national tournament in her first two seasons. She captured seven Trans-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association or American Southwest Conference titles. She also recruited quality student-athletes as her last seven teams were named to the Women s Basketball Coaches Association Honor Roll as one of the top 25 teams in grade point average in the nation. She coached three All-America selections and 34 all-conference selections and 46 academic all-conference selections. Her teams won the first four ASC Conference Tournaments in league history. She also served as an assistant athletic director and senior women s administrator at HSU. Goodenough was the head coach at Hardin-Simmons University from 1993-2002 before going to Oklahoma State for three seasons. She was then the head coach at NCAA Division I Charleston Southern from 2006-12. Goodenough is 397-265 (.600) in 24 years of collegiate coaching with 188 of those wins coming in her nine seasons at HSU. She was 23-61 in a short, three-year stint at Oklahoma State and 78-105 in six seasons at Charleston Southern. During her final three seasons as the Buccaneers head coach, she went 48-45 and took the team to play at Minnesota in the Women s Basketball Invitation (WBI). At Oklahoma State, Goodenough recruited and coached Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Nina Stone and posted the 19th best recruiting class in the country in her first full season. Five of the top 10 largest home crowds in school history occurred during Goodenough s tenure, including the largest crowd to ever watch a home women s basketball contest. A 1991 graduate of Texas-Arlington, Goodenough and her husband, Rob, have two daughters, Bailey and Macy, both of whom are enrolled at Abilene Christian. Coaching Staff Erika Lambert Associate Head Coach 2nd Year Erika Lambert recently finished her second season as the associate head coach for the Abilene Christian Women s Basketball team. She was named to her current position in June of 2015. Lambert has close to a decade s worth of experience coaching at the collegiate level, eight of which have been with NCAA DI programs. Her responsibilities with the Wildcats include coordinating all recruiting efforts, oversee post player development, and lead the program s alumni relations and community outreach efforts. ACU head coach Julie Goodenough and Lambert previously worked together during the 2011-12 season at Charleston Southern University. That year s team won 17 games and qualified for its second postseason appearance at the Women s Basketball Invitational in three years. Lambert assisted with the instruction of the Buccaneer shooting guards on a team that ranked fourth in the nation in 3-point field goals per game. She also coached All-Big South Conference shooting guard Rachelle Coward, who finished her career with a 4.0 grade-point average and title of Big South Conference Student Athlete of the Year. After Goodenough departed for Abilene Christian, Lambert stayed on board for one additional year at Charleston Southern as an assistant to head coach Fred Applin. Lambert took over the development of the team s post players during this season and helped former Wildcat graduate assistant coach Lakeitha Alston earn All-Big South honors behind 16.6 points per game. During the 2013-14 season Lambert joined Ohio Wesleyan as a volunteer assistant coach and helped the Battling Bishops go from eight to 18 victories, and in 2014-15 she contributed to Bethel (Minnesota) University s 21-win season, which included an at-large bid to the NCAA DIII Tournament. As a student-athlete at the College of Charleston, Lambert battled through a series of knee injuries to play in 100 games (74 starts) and provide over 700 points, 400 rebounds and a school record 164 blocked shots. The Mannsville, N.Y., native was a two-year team captain for the Cougars and four-time selection to the Southern Conference All-Academic Honor Roll. One of her best games came against Kennesaw State in December of 2007, during which she scored a career-high 26 points, off a personal-best 13- for-16 effort from the field. Lambert graduated Cum Laude from the College of Charleston Honors College in 2008 with bachelor s degrees in corporate communication and historic preservation. She later earned her Master s of Public Administration from the College of Charleston in 2010. Lambert is an active member of the Women s Basketball Coaches Association and The Alliance of Women Coaches.
