Clinic is on track for next fall and Fun Committee is working on several items to add to 2011 calendar. May not be feasible to add educational spots to meetings since they are currently 2 hours long. Vice Presidents Report: No business to report Secretary s Report: Not present Treasurer s Report: Not present Membership: Motion by Gabrielle to approve new memberships for Eric Balcom, Kelly Orr, Mary Lott, and Maurice Crites/Tiffany Carlton. Clary second. Unanimously approved. Several members have not paid 2009 or 2010 dues. The following will be removed from the member roster: Carrie, Doug, & Shelby Burrus, Karen Martinac, David & Helen Woracek. Charlotte paid Connie Gohl s 2009 dues and will discuss with Connie the best means for her to receive club news since she has no email access. Shelley Fritzke notified Debbi she will pay past and current dues by mail. Jen Rice renewed her membership. Old Business: Trailer Trailer purchase was unanimously approved. The cost will be ~$5000. Barb will form a small committee to negotiate a purchase package and place the trailer order with Freeway Sales. A down payment will be required at that time. Ron and Vicki volunteered for the committee. Annual Awards Charlotte presented a plan for ABHC annual awards with application form. Wooden plaques are approximately 5 x 7 and have the club logo on the left and a bronze plate on the right with the dog s name. Attendees agreed the plate may include non-herding titles the dog previously received. Annual plates will have all herding titles earned per herding venue during the year; one plate per venue. Deceased dogs may receive the historical hall of fame award. Barbara will provide Charlotte the appropriate herding titles for CKC. Vicki volunteered to help Charlotte organize and process annual awards. All members are asked to review the attached annual awards proposal and reply to Charlotte with comments or suggestions by 26 Dec so that the plan can be implemented at the beginning of next year.
Annual Educational Clinic Linda Rorem agreed to conduct a French course clinic and trial however notified Debbi that the CA clubs plan to bring another French judge next year and ABHCWW may be able to partner with them. Debbi estimates that the event would break even financially and may be profitable. Possible dates in order of preference are 6-9 Oct, 22-25 Sep, and 15-18 Sep. The last date conflicts with Harbor Hounds. A French language translater will likely be needed. Harbor Hounds/Instinct Testing Sandie has no news to report on Harbor Hounds but should receive information when the organizing body begins preparations for the 2011 event. It is likely to occur on Sep 17 th. If the French course falls the weekend after Harbor Hounds Barb suggested the herding instinct test could be run in conjunction with the French course trial. Fun Herding Committee Ron has several ideas for fun club events and will forward the information to Debbi. They will decide the best venue at which to hold the events. Judges Seminar The judges seminar will occur on 19 Feb, 2011 at the Gig Harbor Library. The cost for the seminar is $40. The Library room is reserved from 7AM to 7PM. Late registration will begin at 8AM and the seminar will begin at 8:30. Barbara prepared an advertising flyer for the seminar and after edits provided by Carol Delsman are incorporated it will be distributed to various lists and posted on the club website. Event Advertising Toni will prepare a promotional piece early next year with trial dates and other information to send to mailing list, website, local newspapers ( Key Peninsula News, Gig Harbor Gateway, and Pet Connection) and for distribution to veterinarian offices, pet stores, and various training facilities. New Business: Officer Elections Nominations for 2011 club officers were: President Debbi Humble Vice President Barbara Davenport Corresponding Secretary Gabrielle LaRoche Treasurer Toni Crites Board Members (three positions) Jane Baugh, Ron Fischer, Claire Sullivan Vicki Chalk was nominated for board member by Charlotte Dietsch at the meeting. A motion was made to accept as 2011 club officers the nominated president, vice president, corresponding secretary, and treasurer. A vote was conducted to select three of the four nominated board members and the winners are Jane Baugh, Vicki Chalk, and Ron Fischer. All officers will assume responsibility for their elected positions on Jan 1, 2011. Club Meeting Schedule members attending the Feb meeting will schedule all meetings for 2011. Charitable Donations Toni & Barb suggested organizing donations for elderly pet owners who are having financial difficulty caring for their pets. Barb will get the information from her vet and Sandie
will contact the organizer to learn more about the charity. All prefer to give food and other tangible items as opposed to cash. Donation boxes can be set out at trials and other club events. Trial Business: AHBA Ranch Large Flock Trial ( Barb) o Dates Changed from April 8, 9, 10 to April 1, 2, 3 due to conflict with B.C.
