I want to introduce myself as the new AHBAO President. We live on a beautiful ranch outside of Salem and raise Black Angus cattle. We got introduced to Arabians 7 years ago when my daughter bought her first Arabian and started showing 4-H and open shows. We then found a wonderful trainer, Karla Moffitt, whom we have been showing with for 6 years. We presently have 3 purebreds and 2 half Arabians and just love the breed. I wanted to personally invite you all to our 68th Anniversary Spring Classic Arabian Horse Show, held at the Oregon Horse Center in Eugene on April 17-19. Come join all the fun! Also in the fall our club hosts an All Breed Schooling Show at the Yamhill Co Fairgrounds in McMinnville on Sept 12. Thank you all for supporting and promoting the beautiful Arabian horse! Grooming For Success Clinic The AHBAO 'Grooming for Success' Clinic was just that...a great success! The location at Cedar Creek Stables in Sandy, OR was beautiful & the evening was agreeably warm for March. The big headliners were members Julie Hedden & Haley Vachter, who addressed the audience with a most informative, motivating, & practical approach to turning out beautifully groomed horses. They shared great tips so our demonstration horses looked outstanding. The people attending were very engaged, asking questions & looking first hand at finished results. Wilco donated some terrific grooming supplies & each one took home a prize. Many thanks go out to Julie Hedden, Haley Vachter, Renay Butts, Cedar Creek Stables, Wilco, & all the wonderful volunteers who made our clinic possible. Thank you also to everyone who came to our clinic. With your positive response, plans are in the works for a follow up clinic. Cathy Stauffer AHBAO Clinic committee

Summer Trail Ride The AHACO club has invited our members to join them for a trail ride at Perrydale Trails in Sherwood on August 9, 2015. We will get more details as the date gets closer. Club Volunteers Region 4 had a booth at the Northwest Horse Expo held recently. AHBAO members who volunteered their time were: Julie Hedden, Jan Hamilin, Lily Hamlin and Kay Herbst. Thanks to all of them! Member Accomplishments Make it three straight for Keith Butts. Youth member and son of board member Renay Butts, Keith recently won the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams Northwest district saddle seat championship for the third year in a row on his half Arabian mare Koko Shanel. The duo will compete at the state level in saddle seat and test themselves at the in-hand obstacle relay, a team event that they placed second in. Koko Shanel will not be the family s only horse at state, as their Arabian gelding Read All About It, will be on hand also. Reddy carried a teammate to a district bronze medal in saddle seat equitation and teamed with Keith to finish fifth in working rancher and team penning competitions. Congratulations to Keith and his versatile Arabian horses. Good luck at state!
