T O U R N A M E N T R U L E S & F O R M A T If we all play by them, we all have fun We appreciate you taking the time to read the rules and we look forward to a day filled with everyone playing by them! OSA Winter Classic - teams play 5v5 1. 3 15-minute running time periods. 2. There will be 2 divisions. Teams will play all teams in their division. The 2 winners from each division will play in the finals. Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie. If teams are tied after round robin play, the goal differential will be the tie breaker. However, if playoff game ends in a tie, the play will move to a shoot out. 3. All players must wear helmets and hockey skates and protective equipment. 4. All teams must have matching jerseys. If not, a set of jerseys can be bought from the OSA for the tournament. Just check off the box during registration, indicating if you will be purchasing a jersey. 5. All rinks will start and stop on the master horn. 6. There will be 1 referee for each game. If a puck goes out of bounds, the last team to touch it loses possession. During restart, the defender must give his opponent 2-stick lengths of space. 8. Players can only play on one team. 9. It is the responsibility of the team captain to ensure the correct game score has been logged on the scorecard. By signing the scorecard at the conclusion of the game, your team captain is acknowledging that they agree with the final score. Teams cannot contest scores/results after they have signed the scorecard. 4
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS When do players check-in for the OSA Winter Classic? Registration will begin at 8:00am with the games beginning at 9:00am How many games does my team get to play? All teams are guaranteed 2 games with the possibility of more if they make it to playoff rounds. All games are to take place on February 21. How many players can each team have? Teams may be composed of a minimum of four players and a maximum of five players on the ice at any one time. Each team can have 10 to 16 players What are the rules? See Tournament Format and Rules Above How do you do rankings? Points will be assigned to teams based on the outcome of each game: Win 2 Points Tie 1 Point Loss 0 Points The two teams with the greatest number of points will play in the final match for all the glory How do I learn about sponsoring this event?
