While this isn t very pleasant for those of us feeding and calving, the moisture that is in this snow is very welcome. In fact, the word from meteorologists is that El Niño is starting to come to life and with it the promise of more moisture for the coming year. With record corn planting acres planned, we could be looking at the perfect situation as far as fall feeder calf prices are concerned. This year s offering is a testament to the goals we continue to strive to achieve. These bulls grew up through an extremely hot dry summer that presented forage as well as water challenges. They still weaned off their mothers at adequate weights and have performed well on test. One of the changes you will notice this year is the new EPD base. In January, the AGA adopted the same EPD base as the Simmental and Red Angus breeds. What this means is that you can now compare numbers across all three breeds.
