OUR OBJECTIVE The Club s objective is to encourage children from ages 4 to 17 to play the game of Australian Football and to teach them the required skills for them to develop. Taught by accredited coaches, the Club enables children to play in organised AFL competitions to the best of their ability and in accordance with the expected standard of sportsmanship and good conduct. This includes teaching them the importance of playing for the team rather than as individuals and to have respect for their teammates, the opposition and all officials. All players are given equal opportunity to play and compete during the season, irrespective of their skill-level and development progress. The Club continually promotes community spirit in supporting the children s social development. By interacting in a fun environment at Auskick through to Junior levels, children are able to make new friends at the same time as they enjoy participating in an active sport whilst improving self-confidence and acquiring new skills along the way. Finally, the Club operates at all times in the best interests of people affiliated with the Club including the players, members, parents & relatives, volunteers, sponsors and the Committee. MISSION STATEMENT The Campbelltown Swans Junior Australian Football Club exists to provide all children between the ages of 4 to 17 the opportunity to learn new skills and to play a team sport in a safe, fun and enjoyable environment. KIDS FIRST Today s parents have an important role in the delivery and support of sporting activities for their own and other children. With it comes a clear responsibility to act in a constructive and encouraging manner at all times. Barracking and wanting your child to perform well is human nature, but it is critical that this should be done in a responsible manner to avoid the ugly parent syndrome at all times. Penalties to your child s team can be issued by field umpires for poor sideline behaviour of spectators. CHILD PROTECTION All volunteers working with children within the club are required to complete a Prohibited Employment Declaration under the Working with Children Provisions of the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998. Please contact the Club s Child Protection Compliance Officer Dom O Callaghan if you require any further information.. FIRST AID OFFICERS In accordance with the AFL by-laws, the Club provides trained volunteer First Aid Officers at every home game. This is reciprocated by the home team when the Swans play the opposition s home ground. First-aid officers can be located in the Ground Manager s tent on game-day should you need assistance. 11

CANTEEN All parents will be rostered for Canteen/BBQ duties throughout the season. Your Team Manager will approach you about the Roster. If you are unable to make the timeslot/day you have been allocated please inform your Team Manager or the Canteen Manager ASAP so a replacement can be found. It is your responsibility to assist in arranging a swap. VOLUNTEER ROLES As the number of children at our club increases each year, the work that is required to keep the Club running efficiently also increases. All our Committee, Co- Ordinators, Coaches and Team Managers are parent volunteers. On home-game days, the Club is always in need of assistance. Please let your Team Manager know if you are able to support game-day activities in any way. Some of the areas include:- Ground Managers Marking out the Field Field Set Up on Game Days (setting up posts, gazebos, bbq) Field Pack Up at the end of the Day First Aid Officers (if you hold any First Aid Qualifications we would love to hear from you) Team Runners, Boundary and Goal Umpires needed every week. UMPIRING Umpires play an important role in Australian Football and without them, the game would not exist and children would be unable to play. Volunteers provide a vital role in supporting field umpires and children taking the field each week. As a parent, friend or relative, your assistance with umpiring is very much needed and appreciated. Goal & Boundary Umpires This is a volunteer role which can be performed by anyone over the age of 14. beginning of each season, the Club runs a training session on what s involved. At the We encourage everyone to participate in umpiring as it is very enjoyable and allows you to become more actively involved in the game. If this is something you are interested in learning, let your Team Manager know. All teams are required to provide a Goal Umpire at each game and from the Under 14 s to Under 17 s, each team must provide a Boundary Umpire. Field Umpires This is a paid role provided by the AFL. It is a great way for kids 14 years and over to make some pocket money on the weekends and gain a greater understanding of the game they love. Weekly training sessions are available to learn the skills of field umpiring and new-comers are partnered with an experienced umpire on game-day until comfortable with the understanding of the rules and general play. Umpire Liaison: Carole Hunt Please contact Carole via the Club to obtain further information. Keep an eye on the Website for umpire training details. 12

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS The Club is always looking for new sponsorship opportunities. If you are aware of a local business that would be interested, please pass their contact details to Chontelle Marsh at sponsorships@campbelltownswans.com, or have them contact Chontelle directly via the above email address or by phone 0415 108 088. 13
