LONGBEACH SKI CLUB DECEMBER 2018 Volume 80, Issue 12 RACING WITH ERIC By Eric Hartman racing@longbeachskiclub.org Due to anticipated low turnout (Several clubs not participating), the Rokka/Ullr race 1 December 15 has been cancelled. Last year we lost to Aerospace for the overall club in points. We averaged about 7 racers per race and Aerospace averaged 12. I would think if we could get a few more racers to register and show up we would give Aerospace a good run for their money. First race of the season will now be January 12. So, whether you have done it before or you are a newbie, we always welcome another racer. There are many categories that do not have competitors or there are only a couple of racers. This make the odds to do well very high. Help us out and give racing a try, won t you? Racing Schedule for Ullr/Rokka race dates for 2018-9 at Mammoth: Race: January 12, 2018 at Mammoth ROKKA has a refine your skills three day Clinic - January 9-10-11, 2019 at Mammoth $425. LONGBEACH SKI CLUB DECEMBER 2018 Volume 80, Issue 12 Get Loose with Lance - Social By Lance Liebl social@longbeachskiclub.org Our annual Christmas party was a hit! Twenty-nine people attended. Great friends, good food, and lots of holiday cheer. I sported my new Ren Spooner 2018 Xmas shirt. As for January, I have planned a wine tasting at a new venue. Mark Malan recommended the Wine Bar, located on 250 Ocean Blvd, downtown Long Beach. There is free 2- hour parking in the parking structure located behind the Wine Bar. I have arranged with the owner to reserve a common location within the restaurant for members. The date for this wine tasting will be Saturday January 19 th starting at 5pm. I hope to have a good turnout for this event. Watch for flyer details. I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Since my birthday is December 31 st everyone will be celebrating my birthday. WINE BAR One of our star racers, Brian is healing well after his hip replacement. His wife Lisa, has sworn him to No diamonds for this ski season. He happily agreed. Not sure they were talking about the same thing. 7
