He is the Team Captain of Kodak s JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge Team, often leading his team to the Championship Race in NYC. John Tuttle currently residing in Douglassville, Georgia graduated Alfred-Almond High School (Section V Athletics) in 1977. After a highly distinguished High School and Collegiate athletic career he went on to run in the 1984 Olympics Marathon held in Los Angeles, California. He has been one of the most dominant runners at distances from 800 meters to the marathon throughout his career as a runner. Even at the Master s level he has continued to dominate. He set nearly every American Road Racing record from the 5K to the half marathon distance when he turned 40 years of age. He currently holds the World Master s Road Running Record for 12 Kilometers. In the 1984 USA Olympic Marathon Trials held from Buffalo to Niagara Falls, Canada, Tuttle challenged both Pete Pfitzinger, formerly of Pittsford, NY, and Alberto Salazar, World Record Holder in the Marathon at the time. During the last two miles the race, Tuttle battled them for the lead, and was part of one of the most memorable finishes in US marathon history. Pfitizinger eventually won and John happily took third place, qualifying him for the Olympic team, the objective of the day. The Rochester community was fortunate to have John run in many High School races locally and even in recent years. He won the Lilac 10K in 1985 in 28:45 and again in 2000 in 30:19. He is still the Section V Record holder in the Indoor Mile, Outdoor Track 2 mile and Steeplechase. These records have stood for nearly 30 years.
