RECENT ACTION: The Chargers split a two-game series against Bemidji State at the VBC over the weekend, as UAH won the opener 5-1 before the Beavers took the finale by a 5-1 score as well. UAH has split in each of its four home series to date in the 2017-18 campaign. LEADING SCORER: Huntsville native Josh Kestner scored his 17th goal of the season the most by a Charger since Grant Sellinger s 17 tallies in 2006-07 to give him a team-high 23 points in addition to six assists in his senior season. His 23 points tie the most by a Charger in the WCHA era, as teammate Max McHugh notched 23 points (12g-11a) in 2014-15. CAREER YEAR: Junior Madison Dunn posted his first three-point performance in the series-opening win as he led the Chargers to the 5-1 victory with two goals and an assist in the contest. Dunn is amidst a career-best season, leading the roster with a +11 rating on the ice while rating fifth with 12 points (5g-7a). BETWEEN THE PIPES: Jordan Uhelski made his fourth and fifth straight start in goal for the Chargers in the weekend series against Bemidji State, turning in 61 total saves and five goals allowed over two games. Prior to the loss on Saturday, Uhelski had allowed two goals or fewer in four straight starts. Uhelski enters the weekend ranked in the WCHA with a.913 save percentage and 669 saves. YOUTH RISING: Christian Rajic posted two assists in a game for the first time in his collegiate career with a pair of helpers in the series opener on Friday, which gives the freshman 14 points this season from an additional eight goals. Rajic leads all UAH freshmen in goals, assists and points, while ranking tied for eighth amongst WCHA freshmen with.50 points per game. WELCOME RETURN: Senior captain Max McHugh made his return to the ice this weekend against Bemidji State, and the Edgewood, Washington, native turned in a goal and an assist in his first two appearances. McHugh boasts a team-high 66 career points from 28 goals and 38 assists, having posted at least 19 points in a season in each of his previous three campaigns. Corbett earned his first career head coaching victory and the program's first-ever WCHA win on Dec. 7, 2013, at Bowling Green. The Chargers maintained its upward trajectory within the WCHA during the 2016-17 campaign, with UAH posting a program-record 30 league points on a 9-16-3 conference mark. Corbett guided the squad to a total of three road series sweeps for the first time since 2004-05 in addition to garnering the first All-WCHA honoree in Kurt Gosselin as a Third Team selection. The UAH hockey program continued to grown under the direction of Corbett in 2015-16, as the squad posted a 7-21-6 overall record and a 5-17-6 record in the WCHA while improving upon 2014-15 in winning percentage, goals per game, shots per game, penalty minutes per game and goals against average. previous successful level. In his first season at UAH, Corbett led one of the youngest rosters in the country through one of the toughest strength of schedules in Division I hockey. Entering 2014-15, he had inked eight more freshmen as the program continues to build back to its Corbett spent 10 years as an assistant at Air Force including serving as the team s associate head coach in the 2012-13 season. During Corbett s time with the Falcons, the team won five Atlantic Hockey Association tournament championships and also appeared in the NCAA tournament five times with berths in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012. Winners of the AHA regular season title in 2009 and 2012, Air Force ranks in the top 10 in the country in winning percentage over the last seven seasons while stringing together seven consecutive winning seasons for the first time in program history. On the ice Corbett focused on the Air Force blue line, and the team established Falcon records for fewest goals allowed per game in three straight seasons from the 2006-07 year to the 2008-09 campaign. Under his watch, the Falcons featured three AHA Defensemen of the Year winners, and Air Force has consistently ranked among the best in the nation in fewest shots allowed per game. With Corbett assisting in the program s recruiting effort, the team also featured two AHA Player of the Year honorees, three Division I All- Americans, and 17 all-conference selections. During his time on the bench, the Falcons also had the only Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist in AFA history. No stranger to WCHA hockey, Corbett was a defensive force during his playing days at Denver from 1992-97 where he was an alternate captain for two seasons and a two-time WCHA All-Academic Team member. Additionally, in 1997 he was a finalist for the NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award. He graduated from Denver in 1996 before also earning his master s degree from the university in 1998. After his time in Denver, Corbett served as the head coach for the Butte Irish in the America West Junior Hockey League from 1997-2000, earning AWHL Coach of the Year honors in 1997-98. He then led the league s Billings Bulls for a season before joining the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League in 2001. After that stint, Corbett served as the director of the Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association in 2002 prior to joining the Air Force staff. Corbett and his wife, Stacey, have two children, Jordan and Mayson.
