Welcome to the 2 nd Scoil Rince Ui Bhriain Open Feis Dear teachers and parents, we hope that you will have a very enjoyable experience and thank you for your support. We are delighted to hold our feis in the SouthCourt hotel which is situated within easy reach of Shannon airport. If you require any information or help regarding travel please do not hesitate to contact us. Championships will be adjudicated by a panel of 3 adjudicators. Perpetual Cup for winners of each Championship Grade competitions are open to all regions. Championship results will be given out in a separate results room upstairs in the Hotel - The Thomond Suite. We hope that this will ensure a smooth timetable. Special Award for Championship winners Separate practise area will be provided in the results room Championship stage (40ft x 24ft) Sashes/pennants will be awarded to top 5 dancers in each Championship Trophies will be awarded to all 1 st places in solo competitions. Medals will be presented to all competitors in each Cor Comortas. The u10 Championship will remain with Traditional Set Dance. There is a choice of heavy jig or hornpipe to suit those dancers competing in the upcoming All Scotland Championships There is no recall in Championships. All dancers will dance three rounds. Entries will be taken on the day of feis from 7.45am. Photographer will be in attendance. Dance City will be vending on the day. Tabulated Results will be available. FEIS GRADES Bun Grade: Confined to competitors who have never previously won first place for the dance specified in any grade, in any age group. Dancers must perform basic material only. Tus Grade: Confined to competitors who have never previously won first place for the dance specified in any grade, except bun grade. Material can be more advanced than bun grade but should exclude clicks, twists, swivels, cross keys, rocks etc. Primary Grade (Munster specific): Confined to competitors who have never previously won first place for the dance specified, other than Bun or Tus Grade. The same material as Mean or Ard Grad is acceptable. Solo costumes can be worn.once a dancer wins a dance in Primary grade, they are no longer eligible to enter that dance in that grade again. Mean Grade: Confined to competitors who have never previously won first place under the upper age-limit specified for the competition (or under a higher age-limit) other than Bun grad and Tus grad. The same level of material can be performed for Mean grad as Ard Grad. Ard Grade: Where a dancer has won first prize and there after fails to win a prize for that particular dance, the teacher of that dancer may, when a period of two years has elapsed, apply to the regional council to have the dancer re-graded as a mean grad dancer. Craobh Comortas/Championship: This is an ard grade competition and is judged by at least 3 Adjudicators. Competitions, in the case of a step dancing competition are required to perform at least two dances, one of which must be a "heavy dance and the other a light dance. Priomh Comortas: Priomh Comortas is judged by one adjudicator. There are two dances to be performed by each competitor. In a Priomh Comortas with an upper age of 8 years or less the compulsory dances must consist of either those stipulated for the older age groups or Two light dances (Munster Specific.).
